Boss Joe Royle was in the Appeal Court today as Manchester City began their attempt to overturn the Town manager's compensation victory last July. Royle was awarded £422,819 plus £65,000 costs by Judge Michael Kershaw at the High Court in Liverpool.

Magilton to Start Mon 21st Feb 2005 11:40
Town skipper Jim Magilton will return to the starting line-up for the Blues' two home games this week. Manager Joe Royle left the Northern Irish veteran on the bench at Preston on Friday but has confirmed he will start against Watford and QPR.

Royle says Magilton was restricted to 45 minutes at Deepdale to save his ageing legs: "Bearing in mind the two home games, I wanted Jim fresh, so I gave him a rest. Maintaining our home form is vital to us, and Jim is vital to us, as it showed again."

Town are taking highly-rated Hungarian youngster Zoltan Stieber on trial. Stieber is currently with Újpest in his home country.

The 16-year-old right-sided midfielder will be with the Town Academy for a week, having already spent a similar spell with Leicester City. Stieber also had a trial with Arsenal last season.
