Croft In For Swindon? Thu 13th Jan 2000 12:32 Out of prison Town star Gary Croft may start Saturday's game with bottom of the table Swindon. The electronically tagged defender came through yesterday's 1-0 reserve win over Gillingham with manager George Burley commenting afterwards: ""He will be in contention for Saturday's home game against Swindon. I was very pleased with how he came through the game. He is a naturally fit and very enthusiastic boy who is happy to get back playing." With Fabian Wilnis suspended there seems every chance that Croft will get an early chance to make amends for his rather troubled start at Town. |
Injury News Tue 11th Jan 2000 16:21 Town expect to be at full fitness for the match with Swindon on Saturday. Odd Not Coming Back Tue 11th Jan 2000 13:28 The marvellously named Odd Inge Olsen is not coming back contrary to claims yesterday in the press. Town had been looking to get the Norwegian midfielder back to Portman Road after his first spell was cut short by and injury sustained in a reserve match at Barnet. The Molde player, however, has decided that he is staying at home and George Burley will have to decide whether to fork out the £500,000 or so based on what he has already seen at Barnet, for Molde or in his appearances at international level. |
Gary Croft Statement Mon 10th Jan 2000 13:00 Gary Croft has released a statement on his release from prison. The defender said: "Firstly I would like to say how delighted I am to be back amongst my colleagues at Ipswich Town Football Club, a Club whose support for me during these turbulent times has been boundless. I am greatly indebted by their compassion and extremely grateful at the opportunity given to restart my career and re-establish my own personal image. This statement also gives me the opportunity to publicly say thank you for the support of my family, friends and supporters of Ipswich Town. I have received hundreds of encouraging letters and cards, re-iterating to me how badly I have erred but also assuring me that there is a road to recovery. These letters have helped me through and without them my time would surely have been harder. |
Croft Out! Mon 10th Jan 2000 12:45 Town defender Gary Croft was today released from Suffolk's Hollesley Bay prison after serving exactly one month of his four month sentence. Croft Out Next Week? Thu 06th Jan 2000 00:24 Behind bars Town star Gary Croft could once again be back on the streets of Ipswich this time next week. The serial road crimes offender was given four months in December but with two months of that suspended plus remission and a possible period of electronic tagging Croft could be home very soon. Town manager George Burley welcomed the news saying that Croft had tried to keep himself as fit as possible whilst inside but would probably need a couple of weeks before he was fully fit. |
