The seemingly short-lived Tony Mowbray era got off to a winning start as a rather fortunate Town ran out 2-1 winners over Sheffield Wednesday. Two first half Pablo Couñago goals won the day, but the Owls were unlucky not to get the second goal which would have brought them a point.

Rotherham manager Ronnie Moore says he wants the chance to speak to Town about the vacant manager's job. On Friday TWTD reported that the Millers had refused Town permission to talk to the 49-year-old.

Former Town scout Ron Gray has died in Ipswich Hospital at the age of 82. Gray was Town's chief scout from 1970 until he retired in 1987.
