Moore Approach Refused
Moore Approach Refused

Reports in South Yorkshire claim that Rotherham United have turned down a Town approach for Millers' manager Ronnie Moore. The Millmoor boss has been linked with a number of vacancies as the manager sacking season fully got under way this week.

Millers' Chief Executive Phil Henson has refused to comment on the reports which claim David Sheepshanks was keen to speak to Moore about the vacancy at Portman Road.

Henson wouldn't be drawn on the issue and wanted to keep his club focussed on their match with Gillingham this weekend.

Ironically Moore has also been linked with Town's Saturday opponents Sheffield Wednesday. Current Owls manager Terry Yorath is under pressure after a string of bad results.

Ronnie Moore, 49, took his Rotherham side from the Third to the First Division in successive years and then to 21st position in English football's second tier last season.

Moore himself is flattered by the interest and doesn't seem to be entirely averse to the possibility of a move: "To be linked with other clubs shows that we are doing something right here at Millmoor but until someone tells me otherwise, I am employed by Rotherham United and that's the way the situation will remain."
