With the majority of current Town news stories referring to Town's attempts to bring Mart Poom to Portman Road or blind speculation on who might be a target if subsequent attempts to sign Poom fail, Andy Marshall can't be feeling in top form. However, there is good news for the former Norwich stopper in that he is nearing fitness.

Derby manager Jim Smith has confirmed that Town have had a bid turned down for Mart Poom while the midlanders were away on pre-season, Jim Smith: "George was in touch while we were away. Ipswich made an offer for Mart and we rejected it."

Matt Holland and Irish manager Mick McCarthy have both spoken about the Ipswich captain's injuries. The usually injury-proof Holland has been forced to pull out of the Irish squad for their friendly with Croatia, but it seems this is just a precaution.

Reports this evening claim that Blackburn's Alan Kelly may also be a target of George Burley. With the bid for Mart Poom (either £4 million or £5.25 million depending on report) turned down the Town boss is reported to be looking elsewhere for a new goalkeeper.

Reports this afternoon claim that Town have had a shock bid for Derby's Mart Poom turned down. The bid, which came after Town had brought Andy Marshall to Portman Road, was turned down and was thought to be in the region of £4 million.

Marcus Stewart doesn't seem too downbeat after he failed to make Sven-Goran Eriksson's England squad yesterday. Stewart has said all along that he would like to play for England but isn't expecting to be honoured.

Town have said they have now contacted all but 40 of the 2000 waiting list supporters who will get new season tickets. Those 40 are those that the club have not been able to make contact with.
