TWTD understands that goalkeeper Stephen Henderson is the third player the Blues are trying to sign from crisis club Portsmouth. Last week we revealed that Town were chasing defensive duo Jason Pearce and Joel Ward, who manager Paul Jewell is continuing to pursue.

Town’s FA Cup campaign came to a third round end for the fifth time in eight years as the Blues lost 3-1 at Hull City. The home side were 2-0 in front at the break via Aaron Mclean and Tom Cairney before half-time sub Jason Scotland pulled one back for Town, but Cameron Stewart sealed the Tigers’ place in round four in injury time.

Town’s 2012 got off to the worst possible start with goal-phobic Nottingham Forest leaving Portman Road with a 3-1 victory. Marcus Tudgay and Garath McCleary put the visitors - who hadn’t scored in their seven previous games - two goals in front at the break, then after the Blues had missed a number of chances, skipper Grant Leadbitter pulled one back from the penalty spot before Tudgay sealed Forest’s victory with his second of the afternoon.

Town boss Paul Jewell says he is considering whether to make changes for today’s home game against Nottingham Forest with the match coming only 48 hours after the 1-0 defeat at Reading. The Blues manager will be forced into one change with central defender Ibrahima Sonko suspended, while Jason Scotland faces a fitness test this morning after missing the Madejski Stadium game due to the hamstring injury he suffered at Leicester on Boxing Day.

Goals from Jack Marriott (pictured) and Jack Simmons saw Russell Osman’s U18s into the fourth round of the FA Youth Cup via a 2-0 victory over Leeds at Portman Road. Marriott netted in the first half, then Simmons wrapped it up moments after coming on as a sub late on.

Ronan Murray netted an equaliser 12 minutes from time as a strong Town reserves side drew 1-1 with Watford in a friendly at a very windy Playford Road this afternoon. The Hornets had gone ahead against the run of play earlier in the second half through Prince Buaben.

Midfielder Josh Carson is set to be the first of Town’s international players to get into action today when Northern Ireland’s U21s take on Serbia in Novi Sad in a Euro 2013 qualifier (KO 5.30pm). Keith Andrews starts for the Republic of Ireland senior side facing Slovakia, while Carlos Edwards is likely to be in the Trinidad and Tobago team which is up against Bermuda.
