Drury Starts Against Forest
Drury Starts Against Forest
Monday, 2nd Jan 2012 14:21

Andy Drury is a surprise midfield starter for the Blues in today’s home game against Nottingham Forest. Michael Chopra drops to the bench with Daryl Murphy looking set to move up front alongside Jay Emmanuel-Thomas, with Jason Scotland again missing with his hamstring injury.

Ívar Ingimarsson replaces the suspended Ibrahima Sonko at the centre of the defence alongside Damien Delaney.

Jack Ainsley is on the bench but there's no place for Jimmy Bullard.

Drury, recently back from a highly successful loan spell at Crawley, makes his first Town start since the Carling Cup tie against Northampton, probably on the right of midfield.

Forest make two changes with defender Joel Lynch banned and striker Robbie Findley out with shoulder injury. Andy Reid and summer Town target George Boateng come into the side with Guy Moussi switching to centre-half.

Full match preview here.

Town: Lee-Barrett, Edwards, Ingimarsson, Delaney, Cresswell, Martin, Leadbitter (c), Bowyer, Drury, Murphy, Emmanuel-Thomas. Subs: Wright, Ainsley, Carson, Chopra, Ellington.

Nottingham Forest: Camp, Gunter, Moussi, Chambers (c), Cunningham, Greening, Boateng, McCleary, McGugan, Reid, Tudgay. Subs: Smith, Derbyshire, Majewski, Meadows, Bamford.

Honestly believe this is the worst Town line up of my lifetime and I was at Old Trafford 'That Day' Cresswell is the only player worth his while and he's inexperienced at this level sad times I argue with anyone who says we're going down, but after seeing this I have to agree with them.

We started with 1 upfront against a team in the bottom three, says it all really.

So ashamed to say that the team that was put out today was the best available.
Always thought PJ was going to do well, he makes RK look like Alex Ferguson

Glad he is being given a chance but wider issues need addressing. A team that hasn't scored a single goal in seven games rocks up in our back yard and scores three at a stroll. Where is our pride?

The fact that a team who had not scored in 10 hours of football took 5 minutes to score about 5 minutes score about sums it up.

I'm sorry Mr Jewell but the fact that you insist on making leadbetter the captain sums up your level of managerial expertise.

RIP GA

Jewell out! Clegg out!

What is happening to our once proud football club. I never thought I would post the above sentence, but I see no future with these two numpties at the helm!!

Starting with one up front at home against a team who until today couldn't buy a goal is criminal management - and with a chief exec like Clegg who seems to lose out on virtually every deal he tries to handle is ripping the heart out of us.

And where was Bullard?

RIP ITFC

What a disaster, bottom three club at home. We could only come up with 40% of the possession!

Pj should hold his hands up and walk. Nothing personal bur it isn't working is it?

Unfortunately I think that either Jewell will go or we will go down to league 1 while Norwich will probably stay in the premier league (I think they will suffer from second season syndrome next year though). If Jewell goes then we will have to pay to sack him and bring someone else in hoping that they can repeat, or maybe better, Jewell;s performance from last season. If he does leave the manager will have to re-build the squad again causing uncertainty and they players will need to gel. If a new manager is found, he should definitely be buying young players from lower leagues or maybe take a gamble on other team's rejects ( it has worked wonders for some other teams) and be trying to rebuild an ageing squad.
On the other hand, if we do go down then I'm sure Jewell will leave along with ME and probably Clegg meaning we will be in an even worse situation then we are in money wise. If this happens many players will leave and we will be unable to keep hold of top players and will rely on youngsters (eg Carson (if he stays)), loanees and bargains. If this does occur the chances are we will struggle with a poor squad unless we copy Norwich and Newcastle to beat the odds and get promotion.

Personally I would prefer Jewell to leave if he cannot turn it around in the next few games and our main target should be to stay up then consolidate and hopefully go up soon but without rushing. Also many underachieving players should leave such as Leadbitter and some money should be used for acquiring talented youngsters and improving the quality of our once great academy. Despite this going down may be a miracle in disguise as it will allow us to rebuild if we can get another new owner in and who knows, we could do a Norwich

Most succesful sides have a strong spine - ours is particularly weak. We panic-signed Ingimarsson because we let McCauly slip away for nothing - instead of nailing down a deal when he had 12 months left on his contract, and the reason for this is because Clegg knows nothing about football and spends most his time looking at Corporate opportunities at The Olympics (despite the one day/month spin we are sold). Delany is a League Two player at best.

Goodness knows how we will attract the right players given our current plight. SOS David Sheepshanks!!

Apparently Jimmy was ill today. Think drury did ok to be fair to him. The rest were very poor! (probably a bit harsh on JET and Martin)

I have to say, when I heard the team selection on arriving at the ground I feared the worst.

WE have no strong central defenders and a RB who goes AWOL.

Cresswell's worst game since he has been here. Drury the IT man of the match, but still only average.

Without Sonco we are a shambles in defence.
