Town’s U15s beat their Northern Ireland counterparts 2-0 in a game jointly sponsored by TWTD and Suffolk New College at Playford Road on Sunday morning with Andre Dozzell and Max Melanson scoring a goal in either half. Academy recruitment officer Steve McGavin, who arranged the match in order to take a look at the province’s best youngsters, spoke to TWTD about the match and the job he took on at the start of the season.

Town collected their first piece of silverware on Saturday afternoon as a youthful reserves side beat Hadleigh United 4-0 to take the Hadleigh Charity Cup. The Blues fielded several of last season's U16s in their squad and also included trialist Neil Johnson.

A last-gasp goal handed the Blues a 1-0 defeat for the second away game in succession. Town had largely been the better side and ought to have been in front but it was Barnsley who took the points courtesy of Grant McCann's debut goal in injury time.

Town's reserve game against Leicester City was abandoned in the 73rd minute after the floodlights at Hinckley United's Marston's Stadium failed. The Blues were behind 1-0 to a Max Gradel goal by that stage and the result may stand despite the game not being completed.

Academy striker Billy Clarke scored twice as Ireland's U19s thrashed Italy 4-1 on a sodden pitch at Turner's Cross, Cork. Clarke ended the UEFA U19 Championship qualifying mini-tournament as joint top scorer with three goals along with Northern Ireland's Portsmouth striker Daryl Fordyce.
