Town’s U18s were defeated 3-2 by Crewe Alexandra at Playford Road this morning. The young Blues had centre-half Luke Woolfenden in goal from late in the first half after keeper Nick Hayes (pictured) was forced off injured.

Academy midfielder Andre Dozzell and keeper Nick Hayes have been named in the England U17 squad for the St George’s Park Tournament later this month. The games are preparation for the first qualifying round of the UEFA European Championships in October.

Ipswich Town U16s fell to a 3-0 defeat to Norwich City in the first staging of the revived Hospital Cup at Portman Road this evening. Glenn Middleton opened the scoring on 10 before Benny Ashley-Seal netted a goal in either half to seal the Canaries’ victory.
