Town failed to return to second position in Division One with a stuttering display at the Hawthorns. Town lined up playing 4-4-2 as John McGreal and Fabian Wilnis had failed to reach fitness. Gary Croft played left-back whilst Mick Stockwell came in at right-back and Jermaine Wright and Jamie Clapham played the wide midfield roles.

An early goal in each half from Harvard Flo gave Wolves a two goal lead and Town could only respond with A James Scowcroft header towards the end. A controversial decision in the closing stages saw Town have a blatant penalty denied.

Town dropped points at home for the second time in four days as missed chances led to a draw with Blackburn Rovers. Town dropped loanee Michael Clegg, moved Fabian Wilnis to right wing back and brought in Manu Thetis and Jermaine Wright for the injured James Scowcroft and John McGreal.

Town extended their unbeaten run to seventeen games with a hard fought victory over Crewe at Gresty Road. Crewe old boy Jermaine Wright scored the Town winner in the 89th minute after Jamie Clapham and Paul Tait had scored the goals which put the sides level.

As was inevitable Marcus Stewart was the man that ultimately made the difference between Town and Huddersfield, his former employer. The £2.5 million man hit the Blues' second in the 73rd minute after James Scowcroft had scored Town's first and Dean Gorre had hit an equaliser for the Yorkshire side.
