Retiring Academy recruitment officer Malcolm Moore says his “outstanding” former boss Bryan Klug is just the man to take over at Playford Road as the Blues’ youth set-up goes into the new era of the Elite Player Performance Plan (EPPP). We understand Klug’s return to Town as Academy manager may be officially confirmed as soon as tomorrow.

Town defender Tommy Smith netted his first international goal to see his New Zealand side to a 1-0 victory over Fiji in their opening match at the Oceania Nations Cup in the Solomon Islands overnight. Smith, who was skippering the side, slammed home from close range in the ninth minute after Fiji keeper Simione Tamanisau had failed to hold on to a freekick.
