Lucky today! Didn't deserve the win. I hate to say this but we lacked a leader out there today and missed Morsy. Edmundson's form has dropped since he has taken the captaincy, Last week lost possession which resulted in Wednesday scoring and today fortunate not to concede following mistakes he made. Again we can not find the right pass in the final third and never looked threatening. Great strike by Connor the only positive I can find. At we least we are not imploding like Sunderland who lost at home to Doncaster today!!

Ipswich Town 2-1 AFC Wimbledon - Match Report

Quite a game last night! Posts on here suggest a 4-3-3 formation but judging the type of players that started I thought it was a 4-5-1?? I understand the different formation as sides (no disrespect to them) like Wimbledon will park the bus and therefore a more pass it around approach hoping to draw Wimbledon out and create spaces in between their defence and midfield. Unfortunately this didn't work as both Downes or Dozzell were unable to find these spaces to support Norwood. Also I thought in the first half especially the two wingers were narrow and did not hug the touchlines which have resulted in creating that space! Donacien was the main culprit for the goal and was drawn into the centre leaving their left winger too much space and we got punished for it. Second half was better, Georgiou was a typical winger and made Wimbledon face their own goal by running at them (they were scared!). and should have given him the ball more. I think Woolfenden and Wilson are of making a solid partnership at the back which is good to see, along with Skuse & Downes in the centre mid. Dozzell appeared a shadow of himself perhaps the formation didn't suit him? Still not sure with Norwood and Jackson up front, they don't appear to read each other's game, this was more noticeable against Sunderland? Having said that I can't recall the last time both our strikers have got onto the score sheet!! Can anybody help?

Lambert: We Defended Fantastically

Town had a good 1st half, Collins was our rock today. Anything in the air within 10 yards of him was his and gave their no 24 a hard time today . Something that was very noticeable especially in the 2nd half was the 2nd phase. Every 50/50 whether we won it or lost it, the ball ended up at a Rotheram United's foot. Lambert needs to work on this, may have stopped some of the barrage in the second half. I'm afraid a midfield went AWOL in the second half, we needed someone to get hold of the ball. Saying all that a win is a win which was vital. I still don't think we still have enough to stay up but I hope I am proved wrong.

Norwich City 1-1 Ipswich Town - Match Report

Saw the game on the box today (although rather have been there, I may have missed some atmosphere!), Town played well 1st Half really impressed and stopped Maddison getting in between our defence and midfield where he is most dangerous. I don't know what happened at half time however we backed off and created space for Norwich to play the ball around and Maddison came more into the game? Our Substitutions where baffling at best why did Mick change them unless they were injured. All he had to do was to compress the play again like we did in the 1st half? The subs had no impact as we were continuing to back off!! As for the 5 minutes there has been a lot a talk about this, to my knowledge this time should be 30 seconds per substitution. At the 90 mins. there had only been 4 subs (2 mins.) Before somebody asks, Norwich had not utilised there two subs until after the 90 mins and after the extra minutes had been declared. Allowing for time wastage I would have envisaged around 3 mins extra minimum play but never 5.
Somebody on here mentions Mr Andrews co commenting today who was a Town loanee and our club captain if I remember rightly, yes a loan player was our club captain!! Things have progressed on that front but again Mick's tactics have to come into question especially the second half.

Ipswich Town 0-0 Burton Albion - Match Report

Having seen this team against Bristol City, Derby County and now Burton Albion there appears to be a common theme. Why an earth do we concede possession from the off, we are the home side we should be putting teams on the back foot. It's looks as if we are the away side relying on counter attacking. This has all got to be down to Mick as when you play at home by being on the front foot you encourage the supporters to get behind you. This does not happen! Before people knock me down I thought Cole Skuse had a decent game as he is there not for the pretty football but to protect the back four, break up the oppositions attack and get important blocks in which he did today. But again Bart has had to save us twice today, his save from the corner was world class. However this is a sad state of affairs when you are playing the bottom side (No disrespect to Burton at all), we are talking about how well our goalkeeper performed!

McCarthy: Beaten By a Considerably Better Team

Went to see Town for the second time this (1st against Bristol C) , appeared to use the same tactics for the 1st hour. Felt sorry for Garner yesterday, couldn't have been great trying to win headers against two tall CBs and when he did when a header had to chase it down himself! No one looked to anticipate it. Derby appeared to have an extra man in midfield although we must have had a compacted midfield with one up front? Would have changed tactics after 20 mins. not an hour! Look more threatening down the flanks. Wasn't a game for Celina if we were playing it in the air to Garner, who needs it at his feet to attack full backs. Unlike some comments on here, i thought Iorfa did ok getting down line creating crossing opportunities. It was a frustrating afternoon, i hope we can get some our squad back from injury as we do not appear to have much depth. Lastly please be kind as this is my 1st ever post and is just my opinion from where i was watching.
