Just to prove I haven't dreamt it - here's a team of the 70s, with their appearances
Cooper 575
Burley 500, Mills 741, Osman 385, Butcher 350
Talbot 227, Gates 378, Viljoen 372
Mariner 339, Whymark 335, Woods 338
And that's leaving out someone like Hunter with 355. |

before we get a settled side, do you think -
or will we ever again?
At least 3, as we'd need to get promoted and stay there.
I know I've recently been musing on who we'd sell and when,
but we have to do that as we keep buying.
I'm (nearly) always to see players go.
We keep buying until we've built the squad up to the level required.
I was brought up on players turning out for us year after year.
We support the team, but also have an affinity with the players, so I feel we're missing something.
Is it just us, or is it something that football in general has lost?
Since 2000, the only players to get to 300 games for us are
Chambers, Naylor, Wright, Magilton, Holland and Wilnis.
Of our current lot, only Woolfenden is 2/3 of the way there.
I'm genuinely wondering if those days are gone. |

We've certainly got too many keepers. Shame we may never get to see what Slicker can do, though. Similarly with Baggott and Humphreys. Is there no pathway for youngsters these days? |

Delap was nearly a couple of months ago and the one we really didn't want to lose. Since then, several have left for no return. Player trading only works if you get something back for them. The way not to do it is to get even more in and wait until a week before deadline day when it's blinding obvious we're desperate to offload some. |

With talk of Hackney coming in and another striker probably needed, who is going; seeing as we already have more in our squad than we can register?
It would be good to get some money in, rather than letting them LEAVE FOR FREE? |

Entry of the gladiators.
Complete hostility to visiting club until 90 minutes,
then be a model of sportsmanship.
Half time entertainment by the likes of Sabrina Carpenter.
All Town goals shown on perpetual loop on big screen at half time.
Cask ales, pre poured just before half time.
(Half time would need to be extended to half an hour for these three!)
Standing areas.
More loos with equal number of urinals, sinks and hand dryers.
Buses to all areas of town lined up in Portman Rd at end of game.
ITFC to win all home matches. |
