 | News Comment | Ipswich Town 1-2 Wolverhampton Wanderers - Match Report at 17:41:29
The gulf in quality from top of champ to even 17th in the prem is getting bigger and bigger. Three promoted went down last season, and it will be the same this. We spent £100m!!! £100m!!! And it's not worked. But, what that does is put us in a strong position for next year, and although sh!te tonight, the future, the long term picture is still very bright and this is just a small part of that process. We just have to be patient, we've had two seasons of highs, this is a low but, even though tonight it doesn't feel like it, there will be plenty more highs. |
 | News Comment | Ipswich Town 1-2 Wolverhampton Wanderers - Match Report at 17:26:10
The prem, unless you're competitive to stay in it, is a necessary evil for clubs like ours for the money which then helps us longer term try and build to be competitive, but the Championship is waaaay more entertaining. We'll come up again, fingers crossed we learn from this season and then push on. Follow The Town Up Or Down. |
 | News Comment | Ipswich Town 1-2 Southampton - Match Report at 17:23:07
Look, we're still in it. But only because we keep getting favours from other sides who play Wolves and Leicester! Others have made errors leading to goals that have cost us but that's football, and you learn from it. Where as Muric has cost us so many points and he keeps doing it! Those points alone would have meant we would have had some breathing space and put pressure on Leicester and Wolves. |
 | News Comment | Nottingham Forest 1-0 Ipswich Town - Match Report at 17:29:00
Today is disappointing, but, to be honest, I didn't, and never do, expect much from us at Forest. Not sure why. I've got butterflies thinking about Tuesday already. It's not the end, of course, far from it, if we don't win on Tuesday, but it is vital we get three points, I feel and then kick on against Bournemouth, too. Everton has Wolves on Wednesday and Leicester have West Ham on Tuesday. I'm flying down for Tuesday from Orkney. Let's makes PR noisy as f....... COME ON TOWN! |
 | News Comment | Former Boss Keane Rows With Fans at 10:58:06
Is Roy Keane a bit of a prick? Probably. Does he have a right to answer back like you or me, id say so. But why bother with him? Why worry about 15+ years ago? Why the negativity? How about focusing on the now and the positivity? In my humble opinion, they've embarrassed the club a tad but probably more themselves. But equally, calling for them to be banned is over the top, too. Let's just all calm down and enjoy the season. |
 | News Comment | Ipswich Town 0-2 Liverpool - Match Report at 14:36:36
First half, we were brilliant, and Liverpool struggled, I thought. Second half, Liverpool just upped the gears and were brilliant. I thought Leif was naive with the goals. However, he was good first half. Greaves, I thought, was outstanding. A learning curve for all but a big amount of positive things to take from it. As above, these games won't define our season. Very proud of the boys. |
 | News Comment | McKenna: Phillips Brings Experience and Quality at 17:12:03
I mean. Just...eh. Just what a time for our club. I really hope this isn't somekind of fever dream I'm having! I can't quite believe how our club as changed. The one thing I've noticed when we sign a player, every single one to a man says something about how well conversation with McKenna and Ashton have gone. Every single one. They are so, so important to us. |
 | News Comment | Prime Minister Congratulates Town on Promotion at 13:02:31
@eeyore Haha! I don't. I feel football sites should be for stories about the sides and what's happening within the club and ex player news, fans doing good work raising money for charity etc that's all, not a famous person saying well done. Not absolutely everything ever linked to Town needs to be on here. It's just opinion, though, eh, not fact. |
 | News Comment | Prime Minister Congratulates Town on Promotion at 18:17:31
Chill out folks. Personally, I couldn't give a monkeys who congratulates the club, politicians, film stars, rock stars, whoever. It's nice of them to do so, of course. Playing devil's advocate, though, RobITFC is entitled to his opinion as are the rest of our fans on here. I gave him a thumbs up, not because of who I did or didn't vote for but because I'm just not convinced it's news worthy. The bloke was asked a question, and as PM, he HAD to say congratulations in such a public situation. The flipside of course is, if that's your bag and it tickles your fancy, famous people saying congratulations to our club I mean, you do you. |
 | News Comment | Blues 'Preparing Move' For Sunderland's Clarke at 19:54:45
We're signing strong, but also, they are players who, under McK, will only get better. I think also there is some future proofing going on as well, so that if we were, not that I think we will, to get relegated, we're in a very strong position to bounce back. |
 | News Comment | Hirst Set to Switch International Allegiance at 19:10:53
As a Town fan, and a Scot....ya dancer! I get what folk are saying, though. But speaking as a person born in Bury St Edmunds, with a Scottish parent, grandparents from the other side who are also Scottish parents and having lived here for 36 years I, theoretically, if I had any footballing talent what so ever would only qualify for England having been born in Suffolk. Slightly different scenario, I get that, but if he's genuinely proud of his grandparents heritage, does his best for Scotland and can belt out Flower of Scotland, can't see a problem. Plenty England, or other born nations have played for Scotland before. Scott McTominay for example at the present time, and for England John Barnes was born in Jamaica as an example for England. He's clearly proud of his Jamaican heritage, but a prouder English man you'd be hard stretched to find. Basically, what I'm trying to say is, it's a personal decision. If Hirst keeps banging the goals in and playing well for Town, and for me Scotland (haha) then all the best GH, not one person can say anything about it. |
 | News Comment | Block D Season Ticket Holders to Move at 18:21:10
Why are they not getting the ST at the price of the place they're being moved to? Seems odd. Give em a bloomin programme too for the "inconvenience" surely a wee gesture like that makes it more palatable? Anyway, at least it's a "problem" because of a positive thing and not just the board wanting to move people. Wherever you end up, I hope you enjoy the season. For what it's worth, I'm not sure there is any alternative. |
 | News Comment | Chelsea Look Away From McKenna at 12:32:14
I'm not sure anyone is disrespecting KMcK. I think most who have said should he go it'll have a sour taste have said just that, SHOULD he go. Nothing wrong with that. I'm confident the same fans will breathe a huge sigh of relief should he stay. I would class myself in that pool of folk. It's ok to say IF something should happen that may have an adverse affect on our club that you wouldn't be happy about it. I think most expect him to leave at the end of next season anyway, no? So SHOULD he go elsewhere this season, aye, I'll feel a little let down by him but if he stays nothing changes in terms of my feelings towards him, in terms of he'll still be Super KMcK in my mind and I can't see anyone not supporting him if he stays. That would be ridiculous. And if he does go, then I trust Ashton and Co to get a suitable replacement. I personally am not keen on Rob Edwards, but then I wondered who the hell KMcK was when he signed! Haha! But if it were Rob Edwards he'd get my support as would whoever it would turn out to be. If we do get a new boss in, we can't be comparing them with McKenna, that would be foolish. Same backing needed who ever is in the hotseat. |
 | News Comment | McKenna Representatives Hold Manchester United Talks - Report at 21:30:21
I feel he kind of owes us a season yet, and that may still happen of course which would be great. But if his head has been turned, then he's better off going I think. He'll move on and so will we. As much as I love him, he's not the only manager out there. I feel it may taint his story so far though, only a tad, but still. I feel he'd be away after next season anyway, but I don't think any of us could grudge him a move then after at least seeing out the plan. Anyway, he hasn't gone as yet. He may still be ours for one more season. Unlikely but maybe. |
 | News Comment | CEO Ashton Makes Good on Town Tattoo Promise at 18:16:43
I just read this article that came up on my Google feed. Ashton speaks very well, too. https://www.theguardian.com/football/article/2024/may/16/how-ipswich-promotion-p Three parts that struck me..... If you look at clubs like Brighton and Brentford they have thrived because they’ve had a way of doing things and stuck to it. Similarly, we’ll work in our way.” People who are as successful as he’s been are in demand,” he says. “But Kieran and I are really close, our relationship is probably the tightest at the club, and he’s never given me any indication that he wants to do anything other than be as successful as he can here. I see him continuing his development to be a top, top manager, and I foresee that being here.” Retaining that feeling will be crucial when the ravages, and pound signs, of the highest level hit. “It won’t change,” he continues. “If we lose those values we lose everything. This is a unique club. The embeddedness in our community is our heart and soul.” Every one of those paragraphs are music to my ears. |
 | News Comment | Goodman: I've Been Nothing But Complimentary About Ipswich at 09:55:06
Also, @dirtydingusmagee "i know he is ''one of our own'' but he has shown too many times in Championship that he is liable to costly mistakes" That is spot on. I feel Woolfy is decent but he's not an up and coming youngster anymore, he is a senior member of the squad. He can, and will have to improve, and I feel when players are one of our own we tend to, as fans, wear blue tinted specs. All supporters of all teams do it, it's not a criticism, but we need to be as balanced as we can when we look at our players and where you're born and who you supported as a kid doesn't equal ability. |
 | News Comment | Goodman: I've Been Nothing But Complimentary About Ipswich at 09:48:25
To be fair to Goodman, McAnuff has be the most critical and down on us out of the EFL team at Sky Sports. Having said that I just can not stand any of the EFL co coms team, I feel they're all really negative one minute and then contradict themselves two seconds later! Although they were all decent players, they were never at the top, top level winning Premier league titles or playing for their country. At least Neville, Carragher, Keane have all been at the peak of the game and I feel they rarely have opinions that are off the cuff and make little sense and if they do they take the time to explain why they think that opinion and even back down on occasions and admit when they are wrong. Well, Neville and Carragher do maybe not Keane! Haha! |
