CEO Ashton Makes Good on Town Tattoo Promise
at 18:16:43

I just read this article that came up on my Google feed.
Ashton speaks very well, too.
https://www.theguardian.com/football/article/2024/may/16/how-ipswich-promotion-p

Three parts that struck me.....
If you look at clubs like Brighton and Brentford they have thrived because they’ve had a way of doing things and stuck to it. Similarly, we’ll work in our way.”

People who are as successful as he’s been are in demand,” he says. “But Kieran and I are really close, our relationship is probably the tightest at the club, and he’s never given me any indication that he wants to do anything other than be as successful as he can here. I see him continuing his development to be a top, top manager, and I foresee that being here.”

Retaining that feeling will be crucial when the ravages, and pound signs, of the highest level hit. “It won’t change,” he continues. “If we lose those values we lose everything. This is a unique club. The embeddedness in our community is our heart and soul.”

Every one of those paragraphs are music to my ears.

Goodman: I've Been Nothing But Complimentary About Ipswich
at 09:55:06

Also, @dirtydingusmagee "i know he is ''one of our own'' but he has shown too many times in Championship that he is liable to costly mistakes"
That is spot on. I feel Woolfy is decent but he's not an up and coming youngster anymore, he is a senior member of the squad. He can, and will have to improve, and I feel when players are one of our own we tend to, as fans, wear blue tinted specs. All supporters of all teams do it, it's not a criticism, but we need to be as balanced as we can when we look at our players and where you're born and who you supported as a kid doesn't equal ability.

Goodman: I've Been Nothing But Complimentary About Ipswich
at 09:48:25

To be fair to Goodman, McAnuff has be the most critical and down on us out of the EFL team at Sky Sports.
Having said that I just can not stand any of the EFL co coms team, I feel they're all really negative one minute and then contradict themselves two seconds later! Although they were all decent players, they were never at the top, top level winning Premier league titles or playing for their country. At least Neville, Carragher, Keane have all been at the peak of the game and I feel they rarely have opinions that are off the cuff and make little sense and if they do they take the time to explain why they think that opinion and even back down on occasions and admit when they are wrong. Well, Neville and Carragher do maybe not Keane! Haha!

Blue Action Coach Greeting Ahead of Huddersfield
at 18:59:44

These came seem like that indeed, but These are just the opposite to being showy and celebrating too early. They're a rallying call to the lads to show them just how much the fans are behind them. In fact, I think I'm right in saying last year against Exeter. The players said it gave them an extra few per cent after seeing it.
Anyway, if you're in Ipswich on Saturday folks, head along and enjoy the ride. I'll be cheering on from Orkney.
COME ON YOU BLUES!!!!

Hull City 3-3 Ipswich Town - Match Report

I think I heard McKenna say that we're the first EFL side in history to 90 points in consecutive seasons? That's a fact that shows me, promotion or not, That our club is in a good place. Do we need fine tuning? I mean bar a few obvious exceptions, every single side needs fine tuning. That's why we have tranfer windows!
Should we go up, which I believe we will, of course they'll strengthen. We have FFP to abide by, though, remember so don't be expecting top, world class players to walk through the door. That doesn't mean we can get a few in to keep us up and then progress, and then progress a bit more etc etc. That is the plan after all, which I feel we're maybe a season or two ahead of schedule on so far.
As I said a few weeks back, I feel some of you could win the lottery and moan because you don't get your ticket cost back! Criticism of the boys is ok, when deserved, but there is a much bigger picture.
Anyway, cheer up buttercups, we're in a fantastic place as a club regardless of what happens in the next week.
UP THE TOWN!!!!

What a game. Like most, nerves shot to bits.
I can't understand the moaning, though. Aye, we should be holding on for three points, absolutely, and as a one off game I'm a wee bit gutted we didn't.
However, in the grand scheme of things, we are still in a very strong position. Before the game we knew 5 points would do it and we're still on schedule for that. So I repeat, we are still on track and in a very strong position. Up the Town!!!!

FA Cup Replays Scrapped
at 19:05:42

I get the disillusion about this from some, particularly the smaller teams. However, you're assuming that the smaller clubs haven't got what it takes to give bigger sides a game, and I feel this system could work both ways. Say a side from L2 take on a Championship or PL side at home, it's 1-1 after 90 mins, they do lose the chance of the replay at the so called bigger sides ground but equally they may hold on in extra time and pens are a lottery. They may end up knocking out the bigger side and drawing an even bigger side away from home, when in a high percentage of games they would ordinarily have been beaten in the replay, not always of course and the PL are funding an extra £33m to the lower league game. It would probably work out much as such financially for them but the prestige of reaching the next round and potentially TV money too and maybe even getting further in the competition than they have before.
Also, I feel so called both teams will field stronger sides as with no second chances with no replays it's winner takes all. That means we'll have some humdingers of games!

Although we dropped points, I felt it was a great performance. Top of the league with 3 to play and promotion is in OUR hands.
Off back to Orkney overall quite positive. So good to be back at PR again.

Morsy: Our Biggest Strength Has Been How We Bounce Back
at 07:14:04

Jeezo!
Some of these comments are utterly embarrassing.
As @itfcserbia quite rightly points out, we have a side who have had 4 years in L1, came SECOND to gain promotion to the Championship and are still in with a shout of promotion to the Premier League with FIVE games to go. That's an unbelievable effort.
Also, I get why some are upset losing to Norwich, but in the context of the whole season, if we get promoted, who cares! Of course, we'd ideally be stuffing the budgies, and I was very flat and upset after the game, but let's get some perspective here. We've lost just 6 games all season. Six!!!
They say you can tell a lot about a person when sh1te hits the fan, generally speaking the boys have responded during the season to bumps in the road, shame some of our fans can't do the same. Criticism is important when it's deserved, but so far this season, there have been very few occasions when it has been deserved, but it seems some of you could win £1m on the lottery and still moan that you didn't get the cost of the ticket back too!

Later Kick-Off at Hull Due to Sky Coverage
at 17:35:15

Although this is a ball ache for away fans, I'm not sure SKY "dictate" as such, the offer would be put on the table and BOTH clubs would have to agree to it, and the EFL too I would have thought.
And, there is always a winner in these situations and that is us fans who live away from an area where you can get to games. For me as a fan in Orkney, I both curse SKY and love SKY in equal measure! I'm.glad the M'boro game isn't on Sky, yet anyway, as I'm travelling down for that one!

McKenna: We Know For Supporters It Would Be a Massive One to Win
at 12:09:37

Don't get me wrong, I always want to batter the budgies. However, this one game is about the bigger picture. I want a win, but I want a win for the 3 points. The beating of that mob is the icing on the cake.
Having said all of that, come 12.30pm on Saturday I may have a different take on it! Hahaha!

Lunchtime Kick-Off at Norwich
at 18:10:36

Derby games are always 12.30pm kick off anyway, so I'm not sure how this is a shock to anyone. If Sky hadn't moved it the police would have, so why not let more people see it? I get the whole debate with Sky ruining football etc etc and, I too prefer 3pm on a Saturday kick off but for us who support The Town from far away I have to say it's been a god send this season.
Town TV is fine if you live abroad, but personally speaking, ven though I live further away than some fans living abroad like Holland, France, Belgium etc obviously I can't watch via Town TV even though I'm 750 miles away Hahaha! So Sky has it's place, even if they do f uck things up a bit.
It's on a Saturday at least, not so keen on the Sunday 12.30pm kick off myself personally.

Luongo: We've Got to Stick With It
at 11:00:29

We have done remarkably well, as @Broadbent23 says. If we were offered top 4 at the beginning of the season I'm confident most of us would more than delighted with that, particularly where we've come from in a short space of time.
And I feel that's important. I see really negative comments starting to appear and I scratch my head at them. I get that we're going through a tough period, I get it's frustrating given the season we've had to this point and we do need to capitalise on that position from that grrat form but it takes a monumental effort for a club promoted from L1 to keep up with those that have come down from the prem over 46 games.
Having said all of that, we shouldn't let fact that we've come up from L1 be an excuse either and hold us back, I'm not saying it should, and I feel after the January window business, which was good in my opinion, we can and probably should kick on again. My basic point is, let's just enjoy the ride, whatever that brings, support the boys, bring the positivity.
Next season, should we not go up this season which again I'll say would be a monumental effort to be promoted two seasons on the trot, next season we'll be season more experienced in this league and we will challenge again, or of course we may be in the Premier League and that means our club is in a fantastic place despite the challenging period we're currently experiencing, let's not press any panic buttons.

Ipswich Town 1-2 Maidstone United - Match Report
at 15:17:10

@TimmyH
No crystal ball, just don't overreact.
It's going to take a monumental effort for us to get promoted two seasons on the trot, overreacting won't serve us well, however embarrassing today was. Despite today, they're professional football players and they're reaction should just be to focus on Preston and the rest of the season to make things right. As fans we're a huge part of that and overreacting gets nobody anywhere.
We've had a great season so far, of course.
But we have to remember who we are and where we've come from in such a short space of time. Do I want us promoted again, 100%. But if it doesn't happen this year,
The foundations are there and its so great to have a side at the top end of the Championship but as we all know, It's needs tweaking though, we're nowhere near where we need to be to compete in the prem so if I did have a crystal ball and I was offered either 1) up this year but not competitive and a relegation battle or 2) up next season or even the season after but competitive, then I'd take the second option. Every time. I don't want us to be a yoyo side or fighting relegation every season.
