Jewell Already Eyeing Next Season as Blues Travel to Crystal Palace
at 14:31:04

Mr Jewell
Your only eye on next season is on covering your own bottom as is many of our politicions. You do not have the ability to lead a team to great things unless you look at the work of Sir Alf Ramsey, Sir Bobby Robson, George Burley, Sir Alec Furgurson. There are many others buit what I see in you is the inability to stand up for yourself and say I will do it my way. Ipswitch did that through Sir Alf, Sir Bobby and George Burley. They played acadamy young men, they made mistakes but they succeeded. You seem to hang to the belief that by signing players that have been good but are now thankful that they have squeezed out another season to prolong their career through your nieavity they have been able to keep their boots on on match day. I remember Mick Mills , a right back, being moved to left back and being replaced by a "kid" George Burley. He never got his place back but did go on to play in the position for England, that is if Kevin Beatie did not get the position This is what the Acadamy did for Ipswitch. By the way Kevin Beatie was another "kid" from the Acadamy. Stop all this bull for the media. If you dont hand in your resignation next Tuesday then knuckle down, take your time, stop spending useless money and build from within. It worked for Sir Bobby Robson and other British managers. Our English football under many non British managers is second rate. I note that Southampton, Reading and Swansea are approaching a high standard under British management, yet, on a World stage, Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester City are second rate under non British management. The only clubs that seem to be maintaining a higher standard are Totonholm Hotspurs, Newcastle, Everton and maybe Liverpool under British management. Mr Jewell please lift your eyes from covering your own bottom and note how and where you can build a great side. If you feel you cant then please move on.

Jewell: No Meaningless Fixtures
at 11:21:21

Hi.
I make these remarks as an Ipswitch surporter sinceI was ten,1954, I am now 68, and I am aware that many will gwaff at my remarks, BUT, I think that if despite our directorship, that is our owner and manager, if we had held on to our Jorden Rhodes ( Ted Philips) and Connor Whickham (Ray Crawford) we would have been causing the media to have looked at us and not ignore us as they do. Rhodes would have been taking shots at goal and Whickham, taking into account the way he moves, would have been following up and 9 out of ten scored. Nobody follows up Chopra, nobody is there to pick up the halved saved shot. Maybe JET should should make his skillful runs down the centre with perhaps Scotland there to follow up. Many will surggest alternatives. In my opinion after watching Barnsley V West Ham two teams that my beloved Town have doubled,AND stuck here in Hampshire, they are and are playing a to a good standard. Mind you having watched the top 4 in the Premier I am not confident that a top standard is good. Barconla reminds me of Sir Bobby Robson's Ipswitch. I was there when the score was Ips 3 Barc 0 a Barca team that included the great Chruyf. O K I live in the past but all I know that the English standard of football was far better than now. Our top teams ,to me, seem to be signing those European players that that cant make it in Spain, FGrance and Italy.
God bless you all

Legend Crawford Had Tear in His Eye
at 13:52:49

Phillips and Crawford the greatest strike force in history if only my beloved Town could find a pair to match them. I saw Ipswitch beat the great Spurs double side. During this match Jimmy "Sticks" Ledbeater cross a ball from the left which Ted Phillips hit on the volley. Scotland international Bill Brown dived to left and got both hands to the ball. The force of the shot spun him around in the air and the ball continued into the net. Ted had hit the ball on the 18 yard box line, I also saw him in another match I think it was at home to Sheffield Utd strike a ball from thirty yards that from, where I was standing adjacent to the half way line in the what was known as the West Stand, went past the left hand post and hit the spectators. I and all those around me raised their arms and there was a loud oogh. Then what did we witness, celebrations, the spectators in what was known then as the "Portman Stand" were jumping up and down. The ball had crossed the goal line, hit the net without deviating, then the spectators, a goal a goal!!!! Yes Ray Crawford snaffled Thirty a season, maybe 40% from following up Ted Phillips shots. I have outstanding memorys.Andy Nelson who was the greatest centre half the Town, apart from Terry Butcher, have had. Andy Nelson, to me, is a outstanding chess player, he must be, when you watched him, the opponents would be mounting an attack and he would be movinng in another direction. You would say to yourself where the devil is Nelson going. 99 times out of a 100 the ball finished up on his head or on his foot.
Please remember these names:
Roy Bailey, Goalkeeper. would collect or save and within micro seconds deliver a throw that would set up an attack. His son went on to Man. Untd. and England he had a 1st class tutor.
John Elsworthy:
A tall Whelshman who would, despite his height shuffle across the field a great speed, deliver telling passes, and wore No.6. My number I watched him and kept it because he was second to none.
Sorry I could go on forever. 1954 was my first when under the management of Scott- Duncoln the Town were rd Div South Champs beat Leyton Orient 3.1.
Mills a great right back who moved to the left to make space for the great George Burley. We Town are the greatest team that ever played, I will have to concede to Aresenal, but relunctanly
