Ipswich Town 2-2 Norwich City - Match Report
at 10:56:05

Agree hyperbrit - Wolfie simply not good enough. Seems far too casual & clearly has an inflated opinion on his abilities. I find it frustrating how he brings the game to a halt repeatedly….stands there like a proud peacock in the middle, foot on the ball, dilly-dallies only to then pass sideways & short again………..Tuanzebe’s a better partner to Burgess & moves the ball more purposefully

Great result & dug in 2nd half as they started to come on strong. X3 things impressed me tonight (1) that solid back-bone we’ve developed was clear to see (again) -loving this steeliness (2) McKenna being suitably ruthless in removing Williams at the break ( tbh, he was having a bit of a mare kicking into touch/ getting caught & not being tight enough to their wide man) (3) the away end noise was tremendous as usual ( Sky kept paying compliments)- was targeting attending the game ( was looking fwd to a chant of “ yer just a bus stop near Luton”!!) but alas, riddled with horrible Covid so Sky it had to be. Five Changes For Town at Watford
at 20:48:16

Great collective response to the early slip ( again )….only concern is Williams who keeps giving away/into touch/ playing a hospital pass……would also like to see him get tighter to his wide man; too many crosses going on for my liking & law of averages is one of ‘em will eventually get on the end of one

Ipswich Town 3-0 Accrington Stanley - Match Report
at 00:46:08

Comfortable win ( in the end ) against a poor side showing little, if any ambition from the off. Tbh, should have been “comfortable” much earlier & again, far too slow moving the ball from the back. Casing point our opener…..quick, penetrating ball to feet, first time Kay off to runner, byline & tap in; this approach will create opportunities against most opponents & yet we struggle to repeat it & descend into these slow, ponderous passages instead of going for the jugular; this is my only concern against the better sides in our run in. The positives have already been mentioned in the developing partnership of Morsy/Luongo ( must-starters for me here on in). Would like to see greater impact from the perennial changes on the hour…..did seem to go flat until the red card & Edwards' sweet 3rd……..Harness is a concern & needs to get his mojo back……can only recall 1 successfully executed pass in nearly a dozen attempts!! ) Anyway, job done & greater challenges await do fingers crossed we maintain this timely momentum & Argyle start to develop their annual run-in wobble. Ipswich Town 0-1 Oxford United - Match Report
at 17:34:48

Dear oh effing dear......promising 1st half, Jackson suppling some great balls in but nobody on the end & they notch on their only genuine chance all game. Yet again, we can only string 45 mins of football b4 someone switches off the lights & back to Sunday league garbage. Final whistle audible frustrations deserved & cannot believe we didn't force a save (again). Lambert yet again clueless tactically.......why he leaves it so late re changes is baffling. What do they do in training all week?.........clearly little re close control, first touch & trapping a ball!!!....Keane has the touch of a rapist & pls, can someone pls educate me in what Nolan adds?.......all in all table speaks for itself; we aren't good enough & it's a struggle to keep any optimism whilst turning out that sort of performance at we draw closer to the business end of the season.......still, Ant & Dec are back tonight!!....all the jolly

Lambert: Great Football for 45 Minutes But the Game is About Winning
at 14:22:33

Indeed Mr L, we do have to adapt mid-game if opponents change to address our dominance.........what we do must be orchestrated by you, the players can't necessarily work it out themselves as they should be trying to execute your original instructions......it's your job as mgr to influence tactically & I'm afraid this would appear to now becoming under more forensic scrutiny. Our adaptability would be a dam sight easier with a settled 1st XI being selected

Coventry City 1-1 Ipswich Town - Match Report
at 12:47:35

Hugely disappointing 2nd half after a dominant, occasionally “sexy football” stimulating opening 45 that had our yet again superb following upbeat & confident. Sadly & I can't fathom why, but we seemingly forget how to get the ball down on the deck & play & the rot sets in again. Pleased with both Downes & Dozzell ( Downsey bossed the midfield in the first half & Dozzell's ability to disguise the intricate pass was a joy to see ). Even Keane looked decent in the opening half, confidence boosted by notching his opener but then returned to type with his bizarre inability to jump let alone compete.....capped off by deserved chants from the Cov rabble of “ you're just a sxxt Andy Carrol ( fair comment from what I've seen I'm afraid. We must learn to be more ruthless & kill off sides when amidst our domination/ sexy footy spells, but we seem to keep'em interested & remain exposed to our inevitable momentary lapses in concentration. Edwards & Judge barely possess bench warming credentials let alone starting 11th, plainly our weakest players on the field & certainly not the first time.......must be good in training?!. Mr Evans, a new striker & creative midfielder in Jan window please.......Mr Jackson, whilst pace to burn, lacks composure in the crucial final third & coupled with all too often poor decision making, I question if he or Norwood are the answers. Positives are we're still well positioned & in the hunt ( amazingly) but much work to do as with what we know we can produce at times, we should be walking this league. My last 3 games in Rotherham, Wycombe & y'day are not getting my juices flowing!!.....just one goal in these but most worryingly, approx 90 mins of the 270 without forcing a meaningful save from the oppo keepers. Hopefully this is our wobble period & we go again COYB's

Skuse: We Believe Things Will Turn
at 11:08:30

We all know this is PR garbage & frustrating given it's from a questionable individual in terms of performances & influence on the pitch but to be fair, he's hardly going to come out & say we're dead & buried is he?. I still stand firm that Evans should have taken a punt during our playoff season......we sat top on Boxing Day & there was an opportunity to bolster the squad which may have made the difference.....we all know what's happened since. You simply cannot keep selling off your assets & replenish with inferior quality; something has to give in any form of business deploying such a strategy, not just football; it's basic business management. Evans really needs to share his plan B (if there is one) what's his immediate, medium & long term strategy for the club?...i'm not sure this has honestly been shared & in the absence if a rich oil tycoon suddenly taking a fancy to us as a financial hobby, I think he owes us all this transparency. Looking ahead to the derby, I share the fearful comments. Pains me to say but I watched the scum at Leeds & they were impressive in all areas & richly deserved their win; I can't honestly recall the last time we delivered a performance anywhere near what they did & if repeated, this promises to be yet another nationwide humiliation. Sad times, i'll always stay true, as we all will, but sad times indeed

Ipswich Town 1-2 Derby County - Match Report
at 20:16:27

Well, just my 2nd visit this season with my lad ( 1st being the Fulham debacle ) & sadly, little, if anything to inspire a 3rd jaunt down the beloved A14. Whilst I genuinely sympathise with MM's injury dilemma re the midfield, I have to agree with many posters questioning the starting tactics...........repeatedly pumping aimless high balls down the channels to Garner being marshalled by a couple of 6ft 5 CB's was not only dull but pointless..........a mere flashback to last seasons dismall endeavours. When we did get the ball down & miraculously managed to execute 3-4 consecutive passes, hey-presto.....we actually looked ok & had advanced upfield nicely. Injuries aside, there's an undeniable lack of quality coupled with confidence issues. Whilst many praise Wester, IMO he was woefully repeatedly giving the ball away, looked immobile & short of pace/general alertness. Celina was even worse today......sad as I was really looking fwd to an attacking display from him & as for Ward, I'm struggling to understand his role/value & he too seems confused.......average at best defensively & like a rabbit in headlights when the opportunity arises to attack........how many times did he pick up the ball today & seemed to jog fwd rather than drive with threat & purpose......I just don't understand his role/purpose ( or instructions he's been given ). All in all, a real disappointment.......especially given the delightful Xmas pressie from my 15 yr old lad that got me up for the game ......the retro Pioneer shirt.....oh the memories of yesteryear. Feels like another mid table mediocrity season that'll follow an uninspiring turf window.......heyho, Happy New Year to one and all.

Mühren and Thijssen Book Nominated for Award

Sorry guys.......I-pad through a wobbler & froze........what I was closing to say was the cumulative effect of The R'ham, Fulham & Lincoln debacles is that I won't be visiting PR again his season........not so much the outrageous ticket prices but more the value for money & woeful "football" on offer.........I'd sooner do some decorating which for those that do have the pleasure of knowing me, will appreciate just how bad things have got @ our beloved ITFC.

Mühren and Thijssen Book Nominated for Award
at 23:42:35

Guys oh the memories indeed!!.....it pains me that my 14 year old son remains sceptical of my fond reflections & comments that we were once one of the best & above all, entertaining teams on the planet. I bore him with my stories of not missing a single European game for all those seasons with Sir Bobby - watching our Flying Dutchman carving the opposition apart.........Thijssen's touch, close control & pure ability to embarrass & out-skill anyone was a miracle to behold......the there was Annie.......with one of the finest left foots ever to grace PR........those beautifully weighted, curling through balls; the perfect silver service for Mr Brazil to latch onto ( & yes I was there to see him score all 5 against the Saints under the lights ). Sadly, my lad's had to endure the trough era with our recent ventures to PR being Rotherham & latterly Boxing Day (all with Grandad, b' in law & nephews all anticipating another festive extravaganzer a la last seasons injury time winner v QPR......place was truly rocking at final whistle)......oh what a let down but great stimulus to make a huge dent in the xmas malt & port when we got home!!.

Apologies but these spectacles coupled with the nationwide Lincoln humiliation (which they thoroughly dese

Great memories & I'll defo get a copy of the book

Varney Expected to Return for Huddersfield Clash
at 00:17:16

Carsey, you are spot on in that both Skuse and Douglas always turn away when Bart has the ball. It was only in the second half that Chambers showed some spirit in demanding the ball off Bart......some common sense prevailing given that Barts's target man in Best had gone off. Decent sides look to play out & have midfielders demanding the ball......ours are clearly so use to a longer ball they're already trying to get upfield for knock downs but sadly they're not quick enough to get there in time. The bottom line is, we don't need two holding midfielders so I'm inclined to give Skuse the nod over Douglas just now. Bishop should be starting & Bart.....FFS start looking to play out more & dmand the interest from the back four/midfield..........I love you to bits man but the diagonal punt to the sideline becomes predictable

McCarthy: Best Flying on One Wing
at 07:46:55

Big gaz67, you are spot on. For the most part , I thought Best competed well with the high balls played up to him & he won his fair share of headers ( which Bru didn't gamble on several times ). As for DJ27's cunning theory, I simply don't buy it, MM's not that shrewd. Our second half fading, especially the one a couple of seasons back when we were top on Boxing Day having thrashed Brentford away, was down to a lack of investment in the squad where we had the Jan window opportunity.....same happened last year & buck stops with ME & MM. As a club we should have learnt by now..........even sir Bobby said his biggest regret was not pushing to secure a couple of extra players which would have made the difference & would have doubtless led to at least one, possibly two titles. The games changed for sure but there's still the need for deep pockets and the promised land prize is significant, even if only for a season. Surely we need to speculate to accumulate?. As for Best, let's give him the benefit until he's fully match fit...........am sure he can better Sears' stats !!!

Ipswich Town 0-0 Brighton and Hove Albion - Match Report
at 22:29:15

Cheers BillBlue, I'll be joining you through the lens of twtd I'm afraid. Before any challenges of loyalty from the ranks, I've been a tractor boy, attending games for 40 yrs so have seen some great highs & lows; will always be a blue boy. It's a simple case of basic economics & value for money for what's supposed to be an entertainments business. My pass won't accommodate regular footy & golf so my "me time" will focus on the fairways. Here's to 3 pts on Sat but it'll be tough......Brighton were surprisingly average relative to their position in table; I don't believe lightening will strike twice with Huddersfield being equally poor. Ipswich Town 0-0 Brighton and Hove Albion - Match Report
at 19:26:49

First timer so pls excuse but sadly on strength of game, can't see me posting too often. Thought I'd surprise the lad after school for our first game this season (apart from Reading tv job); it's special under the lights & fond memories of " yester-year" In our European era & spectacles like witnessing the mighty Brazil notching all 5 v Soton etc. Anyway, it breaks my heart seeing what's on offer now & as a Father, you always want the best for your children & being powerless to deliver is soul-destroying. The positives as already commented, young Josh & Tom.....at least trying to drive fwd. Besty did ok but clearly work in progress re sharpness, Berra pretty solid. As a harsh critic of Bru, he too at least tried to drive fwd but we always seemed to meander down dark alleys & ultimately dinked an over-hit ball that ran out to touch. The lack of creativity in the middle is frightening - when we do win the ball, momentum isn't there, another sideways/backward pass & opposition midfield regroups & you have to beat the same guys you've just won the battle on. Had was especially poor & stuggled to understand his role alongside ask use being either off-pace, out jumped or slowing down attack momentum; CS no better really.

All in all, am torn with frustration around the lack of investment by ME over last couple of seasons when we've been in the mix; the prize is immense & feel we could have enlisted a couple to make the difference. In MM, we accept he's mind-set, a dogged approach of being hard to beat. Fine for a tough away encounter but at home, when there is creativity on the bench, plus Mick, let's be bold & am sure the no's will start drifting back. Sadly, for me, with £60 outlay ( tickets & McD's + fuel from Herts ) I'll be monitoring the posts with interest before taking the plunge again.......my lads U15's is far more entertaining I'm afraid. Catch you all soon guys
