So to summarise, you think the club should have offered contracts to those players and built around the old guard? [Post edited 23 Aug 20:35]

A third result which isn’t a win was always going to result in the reactions we’ve seen (and will continue to see) on this board. So a genuine question. What would people have wished the board/Ashton/McKenna have done differently this summer? Morsy and Broadhead wanted to leave, if rumours are true so does Luke. We’ve signed experience in Young, a replacement for Morsy and Burgess. We’ve brought back Cajuste, one of the few positives of last year, and added a proven goal scorer from this division. But what would you prefer happened? Just wondered where those who are so opposed to the current situation see the issue? |

Your second paragraph here absolutely sums up the situation perfectly. Beautifully put. Loved Broadhead and his ability to change a game, but as you say makes sense for all parties. |

Do you think he’ll back back at right back ahead of Young? If he is it won’t be for long. Young didn’t come here to sit on the bench. |

Our opponent on Tuesday is the only football league currently whose ground is within a constituency held by the Conservative Party. |
 | Forum Thread | Best player in the last 20 years? at 10:30 15 Jul 2025
Last night as my son was going to bed and we discussed Moray’s seemingly impending departure, he asked who town’s best players of the last 20 years have been. Given he’s only been going to games for 5 years his sphere of reference is limited. Within the context of the last twenty years, I said that Morsy would have to be in the conversation if we took ‘best’ to include ‘important’. Any other suggestions ready for the discussion at bedtime later?? |

Love some implied inside knowledge. Not prepared to be any less vague than this? |

There is no relevant metric by which you can claim we are a big club. A club with history yes, but not a big club [Post edited 5 Jul 22:42]

https://www.theguardian.com/football/2025/jun/13/spurs-hold-talks-over-signing-b "Brentford are expected to target an external candidate to replace Frank despite holding talks with Keith Andrews about stepping up from his role as set-piece coach. The former Republic of Ireland midfielder has emerged as a potential candidate for the manager’s post. He joined Brentford last summer and is highly regarded at the club but it is understood he is unlikely to be given his first senior role in management there. Brentford’s owner, Matthew Benham, is believed to have considered promoting Justin Cochrane from his role as Frank’s assistant until the 43-year-old former midfielder, who is part of Thomas Tuchel’s England staff, opted to join Tottenham instead. Ipswich’s Kieran McKenna and the former Borussia Dortmund manager Edin Terzic are among those being considered to take over instead." |

Guardian reporting that Andrews considered but now Brentford keen on an external candidate. Looks like the Bees are as watertight as ITFC when it comes to "in the know" and most people are just guessing... |

Matt Clarke playing too. Can there be many games this weekend with 4 ex town players on the pitch? |

Delap and Phillips both in Woodbridge. Pretty sure Morsy is in one of the little villages just outside it too. |
