Anyone else loving Gary Lineker going full
at 21:45 20 Jun 2024

That’s harsh. Lineker played in what was a great team in 1990, lost on penalties having outplayed the Germans. He also played for Barcelona. Shearer was one of the best strikers I’ve ever seen & played in the Euro 96 side which played some great games. Had the country rocking! Again went out on penalties. There aren’t many left who can say they won something with England.

Young Jack Draper is having a very good week. Just beat Carlos Alcaras at Queens Club in straight sets & played really well. He is a very confident & competent player. Has overcome a number of injuries in his career so far. Won his first ATP tournament in Stuttgart on sunday. He has a fantastic left handed serve which will cause many players headaches. Andy Murray can retire now! Commentary team very bullish about British mens tennis. Great to see & hear.

Hit and miss on the quality front this game
at 22:02 19 Jun 2024

Played with plenty of passion & a fantastic atmosphere. What a strike for the Swiss goal. The Scots put in a lot of effort there. No easy games, thought this tournament would be a tad boring, I was very wrong!

Reform UK Manifesto

"Prison for violent crimes and possessing a knife. Drug dealing and trafficking will get mandatory life imprisonment. A new offence of Substantial Possession of Drugs will meet heavy fines."

That is surely a good thing?

They are all the same, they are all liars. I've voted for them all over the years. It never changes. There are holes in all the manifestos when you read them & look closely enough. I'm not voting for anyone, but let's see how long the Labour dream lasts. I just happen to find the subject quite interesting though!

"Can I interest you in some snake oil, sir?"

Yes you could, problem is which bottle to buy? There's a blue one, a red one, a yellow one, a green one, & a turquoise one. It's like shopping with the wife at Tesco! They're all the same & never do what it says on the label..!!

I didn't make any claim. I said appears to be. Sky thought it was financially sound earlier but thought it would be a big ask, & the green manifesto was more expensive than Reform, their graph showed. Most costings for manifestos are based on a certain amount of guesswork & assumptions surely? Also it's a football forum not an exam paper!

Euro's Player pool
at 16:17 17 Jun 2024

Any players catching the eye in the Euros that might be good signings for us? Could pick up three or four bargains from the tournament perhaps, although I havent studied it closely enough personally so thought I'd put it out there!

Not sure anyone believes the costings of the other parties either to be fair. Again I suppose it depends on who you read. They all claim to be right.

Reform UK Manifesto

Watched it earlier. They stressed they don't expect to form a government, it is not a manifesto but more a document of guidance for the next five years. Some interesting ideas. Some include.....

Lower Tax threshold to £20k, Tigher Tax threshold to £70k.
VAT Threshold to £120k
Abolish IR35
Support small & medium Business
Scrap Police commisioners/Zero Tolerance Policing
Net Zero Immigration
NHS & Social Care staff to pay zero basic rate tax for three years
NHS Voucher Scheme
Reform House of Lords/PR voting
British Bill of Rights
Westminster Anti Corruption Unit
50% Public ownership of utily companies, other 50% UK pension funds

Quite a comprehensive document, & appears to be properly funded. Its very different from the other parties & can see it being quite poplular.

The fodens . Kanes Bellinghams sakas .look pretty ordinary
at 13:01 17 Jun 2024

I was watching Kane closely, or as closely as the coverage allowed. He was standing around, hands on hips a lot, & occasionally put in a slow jog. He rarely made himself available to receive the ball & pressure the defensive line. Had one great chance. He just didn't bring anyone into the game. Can't afford passengers at any level. Very disappointing.

Haven't heard anything positive from either Rayner or Mordaunt. Send them to the gym for 30 mins with boxing gloves. Both embarrassing themselves. Rayner is going to be a problem for Labour.
