Put up or shut up
at 16:42 27 Jan 2024

If today didn’t highlight what we (and everyone else) already knew - we need a striker who can find the back of the net. Thought Sarmiento looked good but ultimately we’ve tried unsuccessfully to negotiate a good deal for a striker and time has almost run out. We need to accept we’re going to have to pay what they want for a deal to happen whether that’s for a loan or a permanent signing. We will kick ourselves if the season unravels as a result of us not bringing someone in.

Hope we get a win to shut Sky up

Tough game with players out but let’s get the positive vibes back with a good performance from the team and the crowd and shut up the lazy Sky pundits!

Come on Ipswich!

Watering the pitch
at 07:49 27 Dec 2023

Did they put the sprinklers on again last night? We’ve got the fancy new pitch and everything but seems like they might be overdoing it somewhat. Quite a few were slipping on that surface - possibly didn’t help with the Hirst injury either.

Would be a nice time for Mckenna’s Man U links to come into play otherwise sounds like he’s going to Southampton…

Portman road next steps
at 19:59 16 Nov 2023

Ok, bear with me, realise this might sound a bit crazy but the recent news on the Magnus / Pioneer stand got me thinking. There are loads of restricted view seats up in the top tier. What with attendances at near capacity every home game, can anything be done to the roof to improve views up there? Appreciate the posts are the main issue but you also have the roof canopy (similar to other stands of that vintage) which is lower at the front than the rear, limiting the view further and looking rather dated.

There must be a few hundred seats that would benefit. Ashton has mentioned potential of the Cobbold being rebuilt, and the boxes in the Magnus being extended. Could this be potentially a cheap(ish) option to further improve the stadium?

Obviously if people are happy to buy the seats anyway then there’s little incentive for the club to spend money but, if nothing else, it would improve the image of the ground and potentially increase the revenue / ability to attract a decent sponsor for the stand.

Norwich ticket dates

Any idea on when the Norwich tickets will go on sale? Was thinking it would be imminent for members. If it’s not today then I presume it will be Monday the 20th?

itfc.co.uk/tickets ‘friends & family’
at 17:38 22 Oct 2023

This season I signed up as a Super Blues member. Could anyone explain how the friends & family feature on the Ipswich tickets site works? I’ve searched but not found much help on itfc.co.uk itself.

I’ve set up some friends and now want to get us tickets together (if possible obviously). Where do you see the option to utilise the relationships you have configured? I’m hoping to use it for priority tickets if possible where otherwise we can only get single tickets each.

Can try and order them individually but assume this is what the friends & family feature is supposed to help with?

Thanks in advance👍

Slow pace of our play
at 08:23 12 Feb 2023

So much of our ‘impressive’ possession is as a result of us being so slow and predictable in our play. Always looking for the simple pass but often way too predictable, unlikely to break down opposition and everything is so slow we get closed down as soon as the ball reaches the recipient. It’s somewhat ironic that this all goes out of the window in injury time, when it could be useful & panic sets in but that’s another topic.

We need to mix it up as we have been too predictable for a long time and we’ve been found out over the last 10 games or more. Same applies to Walton’s endless short goal kicks - predictable and they put us under pressure from the get-go.

2nd half we finally looked to have some tempo and craft. It was great but doesn’t last for long enough.

It’s unfortunate that our current, wonderful support seems to effect our players so badly. They seem
to go into their shells and resort back to this easy / slow pattern of play. Take a risk, inspire the crowd. The smaller league 1 teams come to a sell-out Portman Road and get inspired, why can’t our team do the same?

Chambers staying on
at 09:35 19 Apr 2021

Following on from Cook suggesting it is up to Chambers if he wants to be here beyond this season. If the comment about players not looking after themselves / maintaining fitness levels is true then Chambers, as captain, takes a huge amount of responsibility for allowing that to happen. The captain is the conduit between the players and manager and, as much as we talk of his 'love' for the club, it all goes out the window if he is not helping to stop malaise within the players at this football club. Any talk of his ability aside (lets face it, whatever he had is long gone now anyway), this would be inexcusable and I would move him on for this point alone. I worry that any player who has been at the club for such a prolonged period of decline / negativity needs to go for risk of them dragging new players into that mindset too.

Always made me laugh how Chambers once lamented the continual, year-on-year, sale of our best players. This coming from a player who has stayed with us for almost a decade now!

Our last couple of (derided) managers both hinted at deeper rooted problems at the club. Hopefully for Cook the timing is now right as players' contracts are running out and we (hopefully) have investment available for new faces who want to contribute to the level required.

Replacing large swathes of the team in one transfer window didn't work well last time so hopefully Cook knows what he is doing - not signing everyone from a division below would be a start, and hopefully not now needed.

When will ITFC hit rock-bottom?
at 18:20 10 Jan 2021

Where do people see the trough of our (2 decade long) decline ending?

A lot of clubs that hit bad times take their medicine & start a rebuilding process. This clearly doesn't guarantee a turnaround - perhaps no improvement whatsoever, but it feels like you have to try something new when what you have isn't working.

The COVID situation & injuries aren't helping but it certainly feels we haven't yet hit the bottom of our decline.

We have what seems to me to be a shell of club; poor ownership; ineffective coaching; pysios that do more harm than good; terrible first-team squad. Limited prospects all round.

Evans has made this and overseen a continued decline that is now 14 years in the making. His formula is broken. It never worked. Where does he take us from here? Stick with the manger for 4 more years? Change manager again? What will they achieve that the last 4-5 haven't? The problems at the club are bigger than the manger and the resulting prospects only suggest one outcome.

People can say without Evans we'd be finished. At this point, would that actually be any worse than what we currently endure? The damage being done to the club at present is immense. A few years of poor stewardship results in the loss of a few fairweather fans, players moving on etc. A decline of 20 years is a step-change to that. People that have supported the club for a lifetime simply don't care any more. We won't get those people back in a hurry. Younger fans don't care - they don't care about history 30-40 years before they were born. Hardly inspiring stuff.

I post this to guage what others feel. Perhaps I'm way off. At the moment it feels like we're witnessing our transition to a nothing club. We need to do something, as fans, to try and stop that before it is too late.
