 | Forum Thread | Progress on training ground works at 12:27 31 Jul 2025
Haven’t seen it mentioned for a little while - anyone know how the training ground works are going? That’s presuming they have started that is. Seemed to be suggested that nothing would get going until all of the Portman Road work was done but, aside from some offices changes, I think the bulk of the work there is now complete (for the time being at least). Part of the reason for asking is I’d heard that new season tickets weren’t being taken on this summer. Now presuming after last season there will be some existing holders who won’t have renewed along with natural attrition. Is it getting too far ahead of things to hope they are then looking toward the suggested increase in capacity of the West stand in the near future? That’s to say by leaving an amount of wiggle room with tickets may enable work to start without displacing existing season ticket holders. |
 | Forum Thread | TownTV friendlies & super blues at 20:48 25 Jul 2025
I’m sure I read that the pre season friendlies are included in Super Blues membership - is that right? If so how do I see them; all I see are options to pay to watch. |
 | Forum Reply | Rashford - How on earth has he pulled off a move to Barca??? at 08:17 24 Jul 2025
Barca are still in financial difficulties and he’s going there on a year’s loan with no commitment on their part. Cheap option for them I would think for a potentially good striker. If he does well then (assuming the have the money) to make it permanent for £27m is good money these days. They could always buy & sell him on if not! |
 | Forum Reply | Crystal Palace confident of signing Hackney at 20:01 22 Jul 2025
Is that a model? I’m not sure it is. Missing out on a target and getting them at a later date isn’t a target strategy it’s making the best out of an imperfect situation. If anything it says we’re still not able to identify different prospects a year later so we carry on plugging away with the original target. Hence why I think the scouting issue is so rightly pointed out by McKenna. As to an example of going back in for a player; Philogene is a recent example but what others are there? Too early in his case to say if it will be a success or not - fingers crossed… |

Have to say whilst I admire the club’s optimism it does leave us at risk of having lost valuable time on (unrealistic) failed signings. This time last year we were a far more enticing prospect but that isn’t quite the case at the moment. Issue we have now is that we’re only a short time away from the season start with numerous positions needing to be filled. I’m sure we’ll get it sorted but think this is just another symptom of the scouting network not being where it needs to be (yet) as reaffirmed by McKenna in a recent interview. Ideal world is we’re not going after some of these more obvious prospects because we either signed them years before or we hoover up an unknown prospect cheaply and with a better resale value; see Brighton or Brentford as to the ideal scenario (in my opinion at least). I’m reassured that Kieran mentioned it as I’m pretty confident that means something happens to change our scouting quickly. Hopefully we will be using the Prem money & experience to fast track progress in the same way as has been done with the academy to cat 1. |

So I managed to find it! Apologies for the terrible quality but posting here in case anyone finds it useful. There were obviously more pitch invasions than I remember but the one I was talking about was after the final game of the 94/95 season at home to Everton on the 9th May 1995. |
 | Forum Reply | Pitch invasion 94-95 at 19:23 24 Jun 2025
Yes! That was my recollection - seemed ill-advised to suggest the lap of honour given the season they had! 🤷🏻♂️ Thanks for everyone’s replies. It’s given me a bit to go on! |

Ah interesting, thanks for that. I might have jumped to the wrong conclusion then - presumed the ill feeling was to do with the relegation. I definitely recall the chants to sack the board - was 93/94 seen as that bad a season considering we stayed up? Maybe it was in fairness! Will take a look at that. Thanks again. I'm trying to trace a copy of a local newspaper from the notorious relegation (yep the 9-0 season). I remember going to a night game with friends from school; it was when the players were due to do their lap of honour but that didn't happen due to the mood of the crowd. Obviously given the season that we'd had it obviously didn't go down well, there was a bit of antagonism from the stewards as far as I recall, and everyone spilled out from the North stand on to the pitch. Much chanting of "sack the board" etc ensued. Does anybody recall? I'm guessing it was the game vs Everton that we lost 0-1 which sounds about right. That was on the 9th of May 1995 so am looking for newspapers for the 10th. I have checked out the East Anglian from The Hold down on the Waterfront. Wonderful facility, just ran out of time so will need to go back. I'm now planning on finding the Ipswich Star. Bit I'm interested in is a back-page (I think) picture of the crowd on the pitch and a young group of schoolboy football fans front-and-centre in the picture! Great memory would be nice to find it. Didn’t realise. Looks like a good signing for them |
 | Forum Reply | Season ticket availability at 11:48 31 May 2025
A friend was told by the ticket office that they are 'not operating a waiting list'. Whether that just means they won't be taking on new season tickets I don't know. Unless the club want to reduce the number of season tickets it seems unlikely that every season ticket holder renews year-on-year. |
 | Forum Reply | Season ticket availability at 11:43 31 May 2025
True, maybe I was being too expectant. Was thinking the club would be bang on it as the owners have their business heads screwed-on so much more than the last lot. Will wait for next week. Thanks. |
 | Forum Thread | Season ticket availability at 11:35 31 May 2025
Now the season ticket renewal window has closed I was expecting / hoping there would be an announcement on availability of new season tickets. Nothing new as yet on the club website - still talking about renewals. Anyone have any info / ideas? |

Leeds would have thought the same about us at the start of last season |

Motson and Davies were football for me growing up. Of the current lot it's more a case of who don't I like. Take any from Carragher, McManaman, Goodman, Richards. I do like Ally McCoist. Impartial and often with some valuable insights which is a rarity. Dare I say it I even have softened with my view of Royston. He's got a bit of comedy in there - time is obviously a great healer. |

I did it the other week, first time in many years. Ground looks great, it's night and day from the Evans era. They mentioned that the TV studio was planned / hoped to be included in future tours so that would be something to look out for. [Post edited 8 May 11:29]

This is the same thing we were told when we went on the stadium tour last Thursday. |
 | Forum Reply | Could there be a one year exemption from relegation from the Premier League? at 09:24 21 Apr 2025
This is the answer and it needs to flow down throughout the entire football league. Finishing 17-20th in the division above should give you only a small amount of additional revenue than the teams that finish 1-4th in the division below. Directing funds away from the ridiculous sums spent at the top of the Prem might reengage fans across the division too. It's the issue of the free market which, let's face it, is how the Premier League got a foothold above Italian football in the early 90s. If one country (or continent) sorts out it's financial structure there will always be a league elsewhere (see the Middle East) that will pay huge sums to establish itself and attract all the best talent. |
 | Forum Reply | That's Leeds and Burnley up at 11:58 13 Apr 2025
I think it's good for anybody coming up if any of the established teams got relegated the season prior. Means you're competing against 1-3 other teams who are more on a level playing field to the promoted teams. With the way this season has gone the 17 other teams will all only get stronger for next season. I think it's time the Premier League realised that there's more to English football than the top division. Parachute payments are the issue (not that I want them to go now we'll be using them) but it should be a more gradual decrease in money as you descend down the divisions. Not the boom bust we have now. [Post edited 13 Apr 11:59]
