Newcastle we’re dominant before the red but it’s another game where we are talking about the referee rather than the football. Loved the mentality of the players though, nobody’s head dropped and I thought overall we did well at restricting them (they scored more against us at home with 11).
More importantly, how many other clubs would sing and applaud their team like that after being relegated? I think many of us recognise that we’ve been closer all season than whatever the points gap says. The players have given their all every single game, no negativity and falling out like at some other clubs, not too many disappointing performances even when we have lost. Sanguine.

Another really encouraging performance against another big club. Thought Johnson was excellent at both ends of the pitch and Hirst really influential for both our goals, think he's unlucky to be behind Delap. Palmer with some fantastic saves as well. Plenty of positives again. |

Another game where the opposition weren’t really any better than us but we still come out on the wrong end. Frustrating that our results are not showing how competitive we have been for the most part. It is always going to be difficult for a promoted team to keep a clean sheet in this league, but we really need to be doing better in the final third as we have let far too many opportunities slip by. |

Tough one to take. As has happened in a few games this season we got ourselves into some great positions yet fail to make most of them count. Felt a bit like the Maidstone game where Southampton scored with their only 2 chances. One positive was that Broadhead and Enciso linked up great with Delap, which bodes well as he has looked pretty isolated recently.
It’s all starting to feel a bit inevitable now, but I’m glad that Kieran and the players won’t be feeling that way. I guess we beat Chelsea and lost to Southampton, so who knows what is going to happen.

We were really good today, some passages of play which were just a pleasure to watch. A fantastic goal from Leif. The pressing was excellent. Everyone looked sharp and things are definitely clicking now. The media will all pile on the ‘no win’ thing, but those of us who actually watch the games can see we are a good team who are right in this fight and deserve more points than what we have. |

Toe to toe with a Champions League club and we were the ones looking for the winner at the end. Delap and Clarke were fantastic, so direct. Phillips and Morsy looking such a strong partnership too. Special word for Taylor too who has had to be patient in getting game time and I think he has been really key in changing the momentum both in this game and last. Just need to cut out the silly mistakes and we could be some force. It feels like we belong. |

Very well done Mark Ashton for getting this done as it hasn’t appeared to be straight forward (and during a busy time for the club). And let’s not forget Ed Schwartz whose flying over seems to be a big factor in helping to secure this. I think we can all agree that it is money well spent. Very grateful that Kieran has chosen to continue with us over established Premier League clubs. Excited for what is to come. |
