Lambert Targeting Both Promotion and Rebuilding For Long Term
at 20:34:09

I'm sorry, but the more I hear from Paul Lambert the more I become convinced that he is a spoofer. He talks and talks in terms that fans love to hear but there is no substance behind it. Results since he has come on board have been awful.

Now he is talking about the ' big' teams in League 1 and the financial clout of Sunderland! Sunderland? A club that has been in dire financial circumstances for years. He is trying to lay the foundations for excusing a poor upcoming season. Taking about standards in the club is also self serving nonsense. The club was relegated during his tenure, not helped by Hurst. If standards are low it's because he has allowed them to drop. He has no idea what standards were like over the last number of years but it serves his purpose to blame dropped standards for where we find ourselves. Maybe a little introspection might be in order. We plummeted like a stone under Hurst and were even worse under Lambert until the last game of the season against a tired and unintetested Leeds. I have no faith in this man at all.

Lambert: Relegation Gut-Wrenching
at 13:25:09

mib, your 'facts' are a distortion of the truth. McCarthy took Sunderland took over when they were already doomed to relegation from the Premier League. He brought them to the playoffs the following season and got them promoted as champions the season after. He was sacked before they were relegated later.

He took Wolves to the premier league and kept them there. He was sacked before they were relegated.

At Town, he took us over when we were in deep trouble.
With no financial support from the owner he saved us from relegation that season and kept us in the division thereafter. Yes, the style of football was woeful but, in the light of what has happened this season when we tried to play a more open game, he clearly knew how to wring the best results out of the squad he had.

His time to go had come, and I support Lambert, but let's not rewrite history.
