Can’t believe he is even being considered.
It’s based on having an initial impact at Sunderland over 10 years ago when dealing with top end championship players who probably remembered him as a player, were in awe of him, and for 18 months it worked.
Since then he’s proven to be a car crash of a manager and assistant, but a reasonable pundit.
Could be amusing. |

This may come across as arrogant, but honestly with our championship quality squad in league one, we should be rolling over teams like Oldham and Barrow at home. Can only be tactics, systems and set up - we have the players |

Is an interesting one.
- plays left back or CM, so would cover 2 positions we are looking at
- however, must be a difficult deal to get over the line as presumably Derby can’t afford to lose players at present given their embargo and lack of numbers, but on the other hand could probably do with some cash - but can’t spend it on players at the moment.
Suspect this one awaits Derby getting players in.
If we get Morrell plus Coulson in I assume we move on…. |

I don't see how we can compete with Championship clubs money wise and aspirational wise anyway, without falling foul of FFP etc. We are at best blowing other league 1 clubs out of the water, going for the best league 1 players, and those that Championship clubs release who are not wanted by other Championship clubs.
Wait and see what happens I suspect. Maybe Ashton will get £500k for Jackson, £50k for Drinan etc etc But I think there will be equivalent free transfers / out of contracts elsewhere

It just may be logical....
Those released
- mostly senior pros, so whilst paying respect to those who have been good servants to the club
- this probably stacks up with changing the culture and mentality which is set by the senior pros
- Nydam, we just don’t know; but it would have been a gamble to extend a contract on someone who hasn’t played much at all
Those retained
- Drinan and Donacien just maybe cheap backups and happy to play that role. Difficult to sign equivalents
- El Miz has played more football than Nydam
- Jackson is about a fee or at best a bench option
- Toto is a solid defender at the level and younger than Chambo, played more games than Wilson
- Bishop expected anyway
- Edwards will be picked up by upper league 1 team or higher if not extended here |
