Congratulations boys
at 16:27 29 Apr 2023

So pleased for Ipswich. You boys totally deserve this, great support despite years and years of suffering. Great club, it's brilliant to see you on an upwards trajectory at last.

For context I created this account when you went down. Things have come full circle. It might be time to delete my account or at least change name.

From a Leicester fan, adopted Ipswich fan and serial forum lurker.

Hope we play you in 2 years time in the top league. Looks like we'll probably be playing you next year as it is.

Enjoy the moment lads and hope your team aren't too plastered for the 100 pts 100 goals.

Seems like most scores are going for the Blues today. Come on let's get the bloody 3 points by hook or by crook. Win today and I think playoffs are firmly ON. Earn your money Kieran!

Lambert has to go surely
at 21:29 15 Dec 2020

If he can't coach a side to beat Burton at home after also showing he can't get results against the better teams. If he can't beat top teams or the rubbish ones who is left for Ipswich to get points against?

Will say in mitigation he had the right idea with the line up but the coaching and planning is clearly all wrong.

Bin off the Joker and get Pearson in
at 23:14 13 Dec 2020

As above....

Ipswich too good a club to be treading water in this sorry state in Lg 1. And while getting rid of the owner is going to be tough, the second best thing is sacking the clown in charge of the first team. You will never go up with Lambert. Get Pearson while he is still available, he will turn the club around...

Outsiders view
at 17:27 11 Mar 2020

Hi lads / ladies,

I'm a Leicester fan (in peace as they say) in fact Ipswich have been my 2nd team since late 90s.

Been tracking your results all season and got down to Portman Road last year to watch the mighty Bristol Rovers take all 3 points.....

Ipswich obviously a traditionally big team but have been slowly slipping down the football ladder for the last 15 years or so. In fact I see a lot of parallels with where Leicester were in about 12-13 years ago. It doesn't look like you're going to bounce back up now which is a damn shame.

There's a lot of debate on here, and I presume amongst most Town fans (don't know many) should the manager go, should pressure be put on the owner to sell up?

Well, from outsider's perspective, it's a no brainer to twist and not stick. Ipswich Town is fast becoming an irrelevance, there's no signs of that changing under the current regime and you have the size of club and fanbase to do so much better and if you're stuck in this league for long you'll be part of the furniture and end up like Oldham or Notts County or Swindon, not teams anyone now considers former top flight clubs but rather lower league clubs.

So I say, go for it, make your feelings known, put pressure on to make a change. Ipswich is a big club, punching below its weight and would be attractive to anyone looking to buy a club - barring those only interested in the PL clubs . Even if you don't hit the jackpot an average owner and club management team combination should have you firmly established in the league above. Would be wonderful to see Ipswich pushing for promotion to the top flight again. If Norwich City can do it then this club is more than capable.

Best of luck for the rest of the season anyway and hope things will improve at Ipswich as you all deserve better.

Sympathy and message of hope from a Leicester fan
at 10:14 14 Apr 2019

Hi Tractor Boys and Girls,

I'm a Leicester fan but have a real soft spot for Ipswich for no real reason in fact would say they are my 2nd team. Despite that game in the snow a few years back and you having had a tosser like Roy Keane as manager!

I follow Ipswich's results, lurk on this forum a lot, watch the highlights of your games on Youtube have and even convinced my partner to spend Valentine's weekend in Ipswich a couple of years ago to see the place! Next on the list - actually getting to a game at Portman Road.

Anyway to the point I remember in the mid 00s we were in a similar situation to Ipswich - little funding in team, journeymen passing through the club, falling further away from promotion each year and eventually being relegated to League 1. It hurt like hell and there was a lot of bitterness, towards Ian Holloway and our owner at the time Milan Mandaric. But it shook up the club and I don't need to talk about the last decade at Leicester since that relegation.

So - feel you for all this morning, but flip side of coin, you've been in a gradual decline and sometimes it takes a major event like this relegation to shock people into action and change things around. If you can get the money grabbers and bogeymen to leave the club, keep the good'uns, get in hungry players with potential and rebuild the club, who knows what can happen when you start winning games regularly and build momentum. There's no guarantee it will go that way, but you only need look at us, Southampton, your friends down the road for instance after relegation to League 1.

All the best for next season - I'll be keeping a keen eye on how you're doing and hope to see you boys start winning games again. And down the road let's hope for a Leicester-Ipswich match in the Premier League in near future!

Good Luck!
