Are there people who sit around all summer thinking how they can make life more difficult for referees? The new 'rule' that a player encroaching at a penalty is OK if he doesn't impact on the the goalkeeper, or score (taker's team) or prevent a goal or affect the taker (opponents) is creating a grey area where none existed, leading to more dissent and VAR checks. How do you know how much a keeper is affected, he must be aware of it happening so isn't 100 per cent focused on the penalty kick. What was wrong with the simple 'don't encroach' rule? |
