Baggott Signs New Deal
at 17:47:57

I wonder if a rethink of our playing style might be advisable in the short term. Two players have been recently signed with little pre season training so might a back five away from home work. My thinking is that one or more of the back five could have licence to go forward- John Wark like- to supply support to the overworked and under supported Hurst. So a back five of Young/ O Shea/ Kipre/ Greaves and Davis with both full backs having the option of leaving their defensive duties to support the attack. Preston are liable to play to their height advantage so an extra height would assist especially Davis who can struggle at the back post.

Now we could consider another year for Ashley Young. I was doubtful when we signed him but glad to have been proved wrong.

What is the position with Boniface as he does not seem to have featured in pre season ? Perhaps Ashley Young could revive his winger role.

Aberdeen 1-3 Ipswich Town - Match Report
at 22:59:12

I would have thought that Johnson, who has played in midfield for West Ham, would be a better midfield option than Harry Clark. I recall that HC used to play up front whilst developing at ITFC and believe that he scored an excellent goal that featured on YouTube.
Flynn Downes did not travel with Southampton on their pre season tour as he and Dibling are both meant to be injured or perhaps that should read outwards bound.

Town Yet to Open Young Talks
at 17:23:28

Downes and Dibling are both not going on Southampton's pre season tour as they appear to be injured. I wonder if both might be heading for the exit in which case the latter would be an excellent addition to ITFC.

Town Targeting Boro Midfielder Hackney
at 17:28:43

Older town fans might recall when we had Clapham Barnes and Putney in the same team- looks like we might be looking eastwards for our new recruitment. If Downes was on the verge of joining last season does this mean that we are upgrading or just finding better value elsewhere. If we have 15 strikers on our shopping list then where do you think Downes ranks for midfielders ?

Ashton: We Have to Look at Recruiting a Different Type of Player
at 12:41:11

Given Town's history with James Scowcroft might an overseas recruitment arrangement with his employers, Crystal Palace, work? This would not be a short term solution and might only be feasible with ITFC and CP being in different leagues but presumably there will be situations where CP might have scouting on players not up to Premiership standard or in positions where CP have adequate cover. This should be in addition to the third party provision already in place. I appreciate that there would be a cost element always assuming CP would be amenable to such an arrangement. The Evans era has left ITFC with a long period of underinvestment so this might assist in bridging the gap.
