If you look at the players brought in some have very limited game time for the years that they have been playing. Hurst Davis and Broadhurst are in this category so it will be hard for them to deliver solid 8/10 performances as provided by Morsy . The same applies to the loanees. I think that there is bound to be a drop off from the astonishing form to date.
As regards Hutchinson the comments as to poor option taking would have applied to the young CR7 in his early days at Manchester United. I am not suggesting that he has the same ability level but sometimes young players need time to develop. In the Robson era a number of local young players- Clive Woods , Whymark (who both went onto to be full England internationals) were retained instead of being canned because the club set up meant they got more chances. CR7 was regularly sending in 40 yard daisy cutters in his early days at United yet the faith put in him reaped its own reward.
I wonder if this will offer the chance for Town to play more defensively when suits. If there are 2 holding midfield players then one of the defenders- Clarke perhaps- could be given licence to drive forward rather in the mould of John Wark.
Another shrewd appointment which shows that splashing cash does not necessarily lead to success. I wonder if it confirms that Taylor' s game can not be adapted to include the defensive mid field role.
