Vienna and Bratislava; how many days?

Couple of days would be fine for both. I adore Slovakia and would recommend extending your day if you can. Agree on venturing up to the Tatra mountains, the trains are excellent and very reasonably priced. Even the wine area just to the north east of Bratislava in the Carpathians is worth the trip, and there are lovely little towns like Smolenice that'll give you a real taste of the region. Banská Štiavnica and Banská Bystrica are also worth a detour. Agree that Burčiak is worth trying, but steer clear of too much slivovica - it's lethal. Got to have some vyprážaný syr (fried cheese) while you're there.
