McKenna: A Special Day
at 20:47:33

Make a mould and start melting some bronze! This guy is the best manager we have had since Burley.
The lowest attendances and dreary football under McCarthy and Marcus Evans are just a terrible memory now. Thank you KMcK, a rather splendid Saturday afternoon was had by all!

Beattie Statue Set to Be Unveiled

Was McKenna or any of the current squad at the unveiling / ceremony? What better way for the new manager to get to know the club and it's history than at today's event

Lambert Meets Blues Legends
at 16:53:31

PR stunt or not, this is a real positive, a gesture that seems to have been lacking with other managers. Actions like this surely must win fans round, which is what we need for the potential relegation scrap we're in. A shrewd move to show he's mindful of the club's history and what it means to be a Ipswich fan. Well done Paul Lambert, my favourite Town manager for a decade!

A New Hope Has Quickly Turned into Carry On Screaming
at 17:40:19

Well written, articulate and honest appraisal.

ElephantintheRoom - I fear you've missed the point of this post and I'm not sure it's too much to expect the club we all love and support to have had a better start to the season than we have had. We shouldn't have to settle for 'boring stability' whatever the reasons from the top.
Yes, there are problems but all Parkinshair is saying that after the wave of optimism we were all expecting something a little better than Saturday.

Be Careful What You Wish For... Which Was?

An articulate blog, echoed by the more sensible Town fan. Careful what you wish for, I wish we all get behind Hurst and be as patient with him as we were long suffering with McCarthy.

Hurst: I'm Looking at My Team and Expecting a Lot, Lot Better
at 16:50:08

I like the fact he referred to Waghorn as 'Martyn' and not Waggy. Let's also hope is an end to all the Town players having the letter 'y' added to their surnames!

Town Granted Permission to Speak to Hurst
at 22:01:30

Excellent news, shame for Hurst Shrewsbury missed out on promotion but he has massively overachieved and ticks all the boxes. Let's not forget the changes in our club since Dino left, better atmosphere and a good feel about things again. Hopefully a new chapter, COYB!

Updated: McCarthy’s Future to Be Clarified "Well in Advance" of Early Bird Deadline
at 13:25:17

I'm pretty sure he's off. It's like if your boss at work announced to your work mates and customers there would be an announcement about you in a couple of weeks, would you not think it reasonable they spoke to you first? Either MM is staying and for whatever reason they're scared to announce it, which isn't much of a vote of confidence in MM's likeability or he's going but they won't tell him until a new manager is decided and then it's not great for MM finding out at the same time, or just before we do. Either way the whole thing is managed badly and I see no reason on God's green earth why MM would want to stay now anyway!
Hooray!

McCarthy: No Plans to Speak to Evans About Future During Break
at 17:35:57

'I'd consider staying on just to annoy the fans'
Wow, this is turning into an unbelievable soap opera.
I can't believe he tries to spin all this as it's the fan's fault and no one from the club seems to be on 'our' side. Please go Mick, this is ruining the club we love, have some decency!

McCarthy: I Won't Be Driven Out By a Small Section of Fans
at 11:28:46

If it's a "small section" than it's a pretty large "small section".

Why not use this post's comments to work out an rough percentage?

Oh, and here's a quote from last season's renewal pack message if he needs reminded:

". . . good performances will help build bridges with you the supporters, and we know we've got to do that. Our relationship with you is vital. We have got to work at it so you feel good about the team and club . . ."

Smith and Patterson Named in New Zealand Squad
at 08:32:08

My thoughts exactly Chambeau - he's good enough to be regularly capped but can't even make our squad photo!?
I've seen him play and he looks very good, surely part of the Five point plan was to bring on the youngsters, if so, where's the harm in giving I'm a chance?

Town Eyeing Tunnicliffe Return
at 10:47:40

No thanks. He had the chance to sign for us before and turned us down for "bigger and better things". Would much rather give some of our up and coming youngsters a chance. As per the plan. Oh, like Patterson who's being capped later this afternoon!

Patterson Wins Cap in New Zealand Defeat
at 21:24:02

Why isn't Patterson breaking into our first team, I saw him play last season and he looked very good. He's obviously good enough to be regularly capped, surely part of the 'grand plan' is to bring through players like Patterson rather than rely on loan players?

McCarthy Confirms Douglas Will Move on in Summer
at 14:49:52

I genuinely wish the guy well BUT . . . what was the point of signing him in the first place!? We've ambled through game after game when he was in midfield, MM defended him to the hilt, saying this season's squad was his best ever, then all of a sudden he gets dropped after some more creative players came along (that the fans had been calling for).

Doesn't make a lot of sense, maybe the season ticket renewal letters and prices will appear on doormats soon and the club is doing everything possible to appease the fans!?

Although, let's not forget JD scored more than Skuse has!

Good luck Dougie

Smith Now Targeting First-Team Return
at 13:04:40

Saw him play last night and looked very sharp, did the full 90 minutes and played really well - as did the rest of the Under 23's, there should be a considerable number of the team that thrashed Watford last night knocking on the door. Rather than Sears or Pitman being in the squad Patterson, Moore and/or Samuel certainly deserve a start.

McCarthy Not Worried About Chambo's Focus
at 16:55:37

All this tosh about sticking together and getting the fans back on board doesn't seem to be playing out quite as the club wants!

I mean, has anyone noticed the lines of stewards that surround the Bobby Robson stand and the stretch of ground from the dug out to the players entrance at the end of some matches!?

How can the club keep supporting MM when they fear for his safety by his own club's fans!?! It's not showing much confidence in the manager and it's a bit insulting to the fans — as much a most seem to be in the ‘Mick Out' camp I don't think we're going to physically attack him!

How low have we sunk, and how much deeper are we going!?

Ipswich Are Awful Every Season But We Struggle Against Them - Notes for Derby
at 12:41:03

Derby fans view our club, stadium, town, players and tactics with much derision which is painful to hear, but there's more than a grain of truth in what they say.

Views like this by other supporters, coupled with the Lincoln TV horror show aren't doing much to attract new fans, a new owner or a new manager! How far have we fallen!?

As always, an excellent and thorough piece from Harry from Bath.

McCarthy Expecting a Different Performance From Town
at 09:46:22

It doesn't take a PR department to work out that if we win, and win well tonight, it'll go some way towards getting the fans back on board.

If we then beat Brighton in the next round, it'll lift spirits even more.

And if we beat Norwich (convincingly), on TV next month I think we'll forgive Mick McCarthy an awful lot.

A three point plan to win back fans, and very achievable.

Over to you lads!

Blues Linked With Former Loanee Tunnicliffe as Clubs Eye Lawrence

So we might gain a below average Championship player, who did NOTHING when he was with us before AND turned us down when he had the chance to play here permanently. And we might lose the only exciting outfield player we have. Half season ticket anyone?
