 | News Comment | Hull City 2-0 Ipswich Town - Match Report at 17:22:53
Don't understand all the changes over the summer, for all MM's faults Hurst took over a team which finished in the top half. Considering Hurst had 2 weeks to work with the players today's performance was unforgivably disjointed, very few grounds for optimism right now. |
 | News Comment | Deal Agreed for Shrews Duo at 00:55:03
A friend at work's from Shrewsbury; he said while he was sure N'Siala is more than capable of making the step up he was far less certain about Nolan. Here's hoping he's right on the former and wrong on the latter. Happy to trust Hurst's judgement on both, hope to seeing them making their debuts at Rotherham Saturday. |
 | News Comment | Sutton Confirm Drinan Loan at 22:04:45
Good move for all parties, I think. Could turn out where the player returns toughened up for the first team like Woolfenden at Bromley, or where the player finds his level (for now) as with McDonnell at Aldershot. |
 | News Comment | Winger Milinkovic Linked With Town and Reading at 07:08:18
Don't know loads about the player, but those are decent stats (though from an admittedly small sample size). AS Cannes do historically have an impressive youth system too so he'll likely be well schooled. Also think that most Championship clubs will likely be able to offer higher wages than Hearts, even us! |
 | News Comment | Doig Excited By Return to Championship at 06:42:05
Don't understand much of the stick Chambers gets on here. When looking at most successful CB partnerships, they usually consist of one technical passing player and one no-nonsense player who does much of the dirty work (Ferdinand and Vidic being a classic example). On that basis, Webster and Chambers complement each other well. Even Guardiola played Otamendi at the back for much of last season, the idea that you need all 10 outfield players to be great passers of the ball is a myth. |
 | News Comment | Shrewsbury Boss Hurst Continues to Be Linked at 11:47:00
NoCanariesAllowed - A colleague of mine is from Shrewsbury, he spoke positively of Hurst's style of football when I asked him. Was glad to hear as think it's important to pick someone with a different style of football to MM as that seemed to be the main reason people wanted change (hence why I'm glad the Cowleys seem to be out of the running). Of those linked, I'd be happiest with any of Cook, Hurst, Adams, Clarke and Jones. I have heard the former left Pompey for Wigan to be back in his native NW so not sure if he'd fancy a move back down south, also don't think we're much of a step up in budgetary terms from his current club. The others all seem like realistic targets, hope ME makes the right choice as in a different way it's just as big an appointment as MM's was. |
 | News Comment | Hyam and Skuse Miss Training But Expected to Make Reading Trip at 16:59:51
prebbs007 - Disagree with you on Skuse but not on Hyam, while he's done ok since he's returned agree he needs moving on in the summer. Regarding reinforcements, from ME's interview it sounds like the new manager will have to work under the same financial restrictions as MM so it's very difficult to see us acquiring the 10 first team players you talk of (I'm discounting Bart as I'm sure we'll lose him this summer). Have to hope ME makes an appointment that can get career seasons out of our experienced players whilst developing several of our talented youngsters into first team regulars if we are to mount a surprise promotion push next season. |
 | News Comment | Emmanuel Rotherham's Young Player of the Year at 08:03:55
Glad to hear this, hadn't been following his progress at Rotherham particularly closely so this is welcome news. For all the promise he'd shown, he didn't look quite ready for a full season in the Championship at the start of the season (easy to forget he was still only 19 when we loaned him out). Looks like a season playing regularly in League 1 has done him the power of good, shrewd move by MM and congrats to Josh for making the most of the opportunity. |
 | Blog Comment | Wanted: An Inexperienced New Manager at 21:29:30
Good article, agree with all of it other than the suggestion of Cowley as manager. Think after many people's main gripe with Big Mick was the style of football, appointing another manager with a similar style would not buy them much goodwill with those same fans. Anyone from Cook, Hurst, Adams, Clarke and Jones would be my choice. |
 | News Comment | Sears Desperate to End Long Wait for a Goal at 16:48:29
Always comes across as a decent character and has admirable workrate, but Waggy's goals and assists while playing largely from a similar position this season has shown up his lack of productivity. |
 | News Comment | Academy Coach Foley Turns Down Miami Move at 10:13:48
Thought it was Beckham's Miami team at first before realising it was Maldini's! Great opportunity, can imagine if he was ten years younger he'd have gone for it. Indicates he's doing a good job here if he's being offered positions elsewhere. |
 | News Comment | McDonnell Joins Aldershot at 11:04:05
Jimmy86 - While he deserves criticism for other aspects of his management, one area where MM is firmly in credit is in the transfer market. With one of the lowest budgets in the division, he's done well to acquire players of the calibre of Bart/McG/Waghorn/Skuse/Mings etc for little money (free in many cases). While I like what I've seen of McDonnell & agree with positivity's post about wanting him to have stayed for the rest of the season, with Downes/Nydam/Dozzell all younger than him & ahead of him in the pecking order when fit it makes sense for him to move on. |
 | News Comment | McCarthy: Bish Can Get Back to his 2014/15 Form at 18:36:41
Regardless of how pro or anti MM any Town fan is, it'd be pretty churlish to criticise his handling of Bishop these last couple of years. Feel his judgement's been spot on in terms of when he's wielded the carrot and the stick. |
 | News Comment | Downes in England U19s Squad at 14:21:29
Surprised Nydam's been omitted, there can't be many in that squad who've played more first team football than him this season. Good to see Flyniesta in there all the same. |
