Have we decided yet...

I’d like to know as well. My lad asked this on Friday night so he can learn the songs for his first game and ‘Wolfie’s now gone’

I was watching with my boys. My eldest isn’t the best technically but is disciplined and ok in the tackle so plays defence (U12s). I pointed out Matu at the beginning of the game and just said ‘watch this guy mate, look at what he does and how important he is with what he does.’

First few comments were along of the lines of ‘he’s only doing a tackle’ or ‘he just out is foot in the way’. By the end of the game it was ‘look how he just nudged him off with his bum and then passed to xx’ or ‘wow, he was behind him and got it with out a foul’. By the end of the game it was ‘so you think I could do that Dad’.

Noticing the beauty in being a tormenting little arsehole (Matu and my lad) was great to see and wonderful seeing a kid notice the work and skill involved in that Morsey/Matu/ role

Very much so. Looks solid and confident in the tackle and on the ball.

Leif looks to be looking more like the old him and him and Jaydon look like a partnership in the making. The midfield pivot both look very good. Cajuste is just too good for this league when in the mood.

Liking Akpom but do think he goes down a little soft at times but maybe that’s just coz I’m getting old.

Need more from Hurst for me but Tbf to him he is isolated a lot of the time

Dad Goal….
at 16:49 12 Sep 2025

Just managed to book tickets for Bristol City away with my 8 year old.

He has an older bro who is a Swindon Fan (where we live) and goes to lots of their games but always wanted to go to Ipswich as that’s his team.

We watch every game ‘from Europe’ and personal circumstances mean chances of getting to a home game are very limited but for his first game to be under the lights (although away) I’m not sure who is more excited.

Now let’s hope tonight’s result ends a happy Friday afternoon

I think the reason he’s had to be left out (or been chosen as one to leave out) is due to home grown players or lack of. Not sure on the detail but heard that due to missing targets on homegrown players the squad size they’ve been able to choose in Europe was reduced from 25-22.

There’s still obviously the reason for him not being in the 22 to fully understand which, as you and others have said, sound like Nuno doesn’t fancy him at the moment

Edit: This is from the BBC Website ‘ Forest have been restricted to 22 players given their lack of home grown players. Only Ryan Yates is in their list A squad.
Uefa want four club-trained players in squads, otherwise clubs are limited by the numbers they do not have, so Forest could only name a 22-man squad.’

Wtf are we doing?
at 17:36 1 Sep 2025

In the game in 3 words thread recently I put ‘Chaplin most creative’ and it is evident when he is on the pitch. He has his limitations and sometimes things don’t work but he adds just a little something else.

I hope this move is down to him asking what his first team prospects are and being told that they’re not as much as he would like. In that case, for him personally, I understand it but he will be missed.

Personally, my biggest concern is that we now don’t appear to have any of the ‘older heads’ who achieved so much previously, lifted themselves when needed and lived those amazing 2 years. Also, whenever I have seen anything from the club on social media which involves the players (I avoid a lot of social media) Chappers always seems to be at the centre of it. Whether it be training and setting standard, supporting others or taking the p*%% and building team spirit. I just don’t seem to see similar traits in any of of the new/fit squad and that worries me.

Rebuilds will happen but it is usually down to under performances or needing to level up. ‘Price wise’ we have levelled up but do we have enough strong senior heads now to set standards, pull us together and work with the coaching team and squad members to get us truely ‘levelled up’?

I agree that we should all be excited and I am. I don’t see anything wrong with a tongue in cheek post after all the negativity that I’ve had* to read and has dominated this forum for the last little while.

* I appreciate I don’t have to read anything but living a long way away from Suffolk TWTD has been my central source of ITFC interaction for many years even if most of it is just through lurking

Genuine question… why would you expect to the the question mark in the header on the homepage when it only makes sense for the body of the text and not the title?

Just wondering if there are diff views to the board other than what I have set atm.

Thanks

My attempt at sarcasm after a few drinks obviously wasn’t obvious. I’ll go and scrub up on my grammar and writing skills, and get back in my basket.

FWIW, I wouldn’t say I wasn’t a little concerned with the state of the squad (lack of depth in certain positions etc) but what I have learned over the last 3.5 years is that our club doesn’t stand still now. There may have been, in the past, what have been seen as panic buys but I was always confident we’d get bodies in.

Also, short term history also shows that we often go back for known targets but also get surprise ‘left field’ signings.

Overall, it still feels that there is a small vocal minority that don’t trust those in charge of the club be it with recruitment or management following a rough season (ahead of schedule) in the Prem, which has been a learning curve for us all, and a slow start to this season with an incomplete squad.

Still a headless club with a disappointing transfer window and Ashton due his P45?

Having watched him a lot at Swindon he is not of the standard we require.
Decent shot and delivery but far too light weight and never controls a game but merely has ‘moments’

I was only listening in passing so missed the team linked (this it might have been Nottingham Forest). Can’t find anything online yet though and certainly wasn’t on earlier bulletins as had it on since 5:30 am
