Plymouth Trip Moves For Sky
at 19:00:09

Make a weekend of it. Plenty of B&Bs in Plymouth, three city centre Premier Inns and a Travelodge for a budget overnight stay. The waterfront area around the Home, Sutton Harbour and Barbican are Ipswich waterfront x 5!
I was up from Plymouth for the Bolton match and will be up again for Barnsley match.

Woods Wonder Strike Ends Deadlock
at 12:01:45

I was lucky enough to go to all four matches. That Clive Woods goal had Town fans as delerious as the players. However I've always thought that if the match had gone on for another 10 minutes, it would have been 3-3.
BTW, no excusing Clive Thomas. I was at Stamford Bridge and remember twice a referee behind play over-ruling a linesman in line with play on offside decisions. Fans were incredulous.

Where you at Stamford Bridge in 1975 ElephantintheRoom? I was and Clive Thomas robbed Town of two perfectly good goals. (How the hell can a ref call offside from behind play whilst the lino -in line with play - called the goal good. Clive Thomas always had to be the centre of attention.

Plymouth please; I can walk to Home Park!
BTW, if we get Plymouth and you decide to come down, make a weekend of it. Lots to see (Barbican, How, Royal William Yard etc). Plymouth is repeatedly recommended for weekend breaks but it's not for Home Park!

Anyone remember George Hockley from the 70s?
He'd have loved this tie up.

Town 0-0 Huddersfield - Match Report
at 16:07:08

Glol at some of the nonsense posted on here. Go back to playing computer football fantasy games and leave the real business to the professionals that understand not only the game, but the physcology of dealing with men on a bad run.MM will turn it around.
Worth noting our greatest successes came when there was stability at the top of the club - not an unusual scenario in football.

Ticket Promotion at Hull Match
at 23:05:24

If anybody can get me a ticket I'd much appreciate it:)

I also would prefer it it the club opened these offers up a bit more. I understand why they restrict the offer however I'm pretty certain Charlton (the nearest League club to me) don't and they'll pull in trouble free crowds of 25k on offer days.

Sad to see it hasn't worked for a proud and honest man. Thanks for the effort PJ and all the best for the future.
Next manager - I'd like to see Glen Hoddle in charge - great coach and great tactician. Time to forgive his misguide comments of a few years ago.

The Real Cost of High Prices? The Future of the Club.
at 11:32:50

In real terms the cheapest tickets to Portman Rd today are no more expensive than they were in the 1970s. I can remember paying £2.40 to see the Town for (what seemed) many seasons: that equates to £22-£23 today. Put it another way, a pint used to be less than 20p whereas today its £3 or more. So the price of a ticket today is under 10 times the cost I remember from way back (when the likes of Barca used to get beaten at PR!): A pint is about 15 times more expensive than in those years gone by.
It may seem expensive but then just about everything is these days. Footie is being squeezed by the increasing demands on our pockets as many of us see real world wage freezes or reductions.
The demands of players (or perhaps, their agents?) need to be much more in keeping with today's conditions.

Chopra Off to California in Pre-Season
at 14:44:44

The loud minority have excelled on this one: their best ever demonstration of their lack of education, general ignorance and poor attitude to others.
I'm glad to see Chopra being given the sort of help he needs and applaud the club whilst wishing Chops well in trying to turn his life around.

Best of luck George - your career record deserves better than some of the treatment you have received in management.
Thanks for all the wonderfful memories I have of you as a player and for giving ITFC fans hope again when you took us to the PL and Europe.

Portsmouth's Ward Unsure on Future
at 01:28:55

I think some of you need to lighten up on PJ. It seems to me he now has a very limited budget available both in terms of transfer fees and wages. Leadbitter walked because Town couldn't (or wouldn't) pay what he and his agent feel he's worth. I'm not losing sleep over his departure but it worries me that PJ doesn't seem to rate Hyam.
I'd like to see Ward join us - he obviously has a lot of attachment and loyalty to Pompey and that's understandable but financial realities mean he will have to ply his trade elsewhere from now on - I can only admire his loyalty. Let's hope he comes to us and we can engender some of that loyalty to us.
Unfortunately loyalty these days seems to be something that is bought - I don't bame the lads for that: they have a limited career and need to do the best for themselves and their families (who should be their first loyalty).
All of you that talk of 'playing for the badge' and other such nonsense - I trust if your employer was unable to pay your wages you'd still turn up and work for the 'badge'?? Somehow I doubt any of you so give the players a break too: their profession or trade is as footballers and they will offer their services for the best reward they can negotiate.
Writing this has just made me realise something: we need a team of young and hungry players with the likes of Bullard to steady the ship: Young and under-rated they'd form a real team and some stars would emerge. Look at Blackpool, NCFC, Soton etc, etc. In fact look back to the mid 1970s and Sir Bobby's teams.
One final thought and I don't advocate sacking managers every year or two but Lee Clarke please- that would be the transfer deal of the season for us! (And put him on a 3/4/5 year contract giving him some security to rebuild the mess ITFC has become)

Town Topic: What Could Improve Matchdays at Portman Road?
at 02:19:03

I used to love going to PR: Barca at home, turn up on the night and pass £2.40 to the guy at the turnstile and then watch Cruyff, Neeskins and co demolished 3-0. Happy days.
Realistically that'll never happen again but rather than try and complicate things surely the way forward is to simplify and minimise costs? KISS - We just want an entertaining and winning team.

Wickham Linked With Town Return
at 02:12:47

Over-rated and gone. Bigger fools Sunderland if they thought he was worth £8.1m upfront.
One or two experienced loan signings makes sense but all we'd be doing with Wickham is further developing him - let Sunderland pay for that = Wickham chose to chase the dollar, why would we want to entertain him?Its nothing to do with 'the badge' - those of you that believe players will play for ITFC or the badge with passion are seriously deluded: No pro footballer has done that for years and years. Ask yourselves a question: would you go to work on Monday morning for the love of the company you work for? Didn't think so, about time you all grew up. Do you really believe it when a player kisses the badge?? Hype, nonsense and frankly bollox.
