| News Comment | McCarthy: Squad Not Too Far Off at 19:19:32
3 players in plus youth players given opportunity to step up which some seem to have completely dismissed. Like the suggestion that DM could fill an AM role :-) |
| News Comment | McCarthy: Mutual Respect Between Players and Fans at 12:53:52
Brilliant season, best year for a long while, and done the Ipswich way as well, no big money signings, no big time charlies. Love MM, down to earth, plain speaking. Work ethic in the team is second to none, how can you not respect that? |
| News Comment | McCarthy: Little in It Other Than the Goals at 13:20:37
lot of crying on here, pathetic spineless bunch that they are. 12 games to go, 5 points of the top. thankfully Mick wont let the team drown in their own tears. and i agree, it was a 50/50 game with a wonder strike and a jammy deflection. all the top teams are stuttering at the moment and Norwich's little run could come to an end at just the wrong part of the season. 5 wins from our last twelve will guarantee a play off spot. i think that's manageable dont you? |
| News Comment | McCarthy: Booing Doesn't Help at 07:47:59
Booing IS counter-productive and only a brain dead moron would do it.It's madness. Booing makes failure (really can't handle a reverse can you???) more likely. We are in a good position, with a good honest hard working squad. It is so aggravating that all this seasons hard work could be undermined by the moronic few in the crowd. Let's hope that bournemouth and middlesboro have a few idiots in their crowds as well, lets hope our crowd isn't our achilles heel between now and the end of the season. |
| News Comment | Sears Starts as McCarthy Makes Five Changes at 19:48:42
So, if we can have lots of moaning from the crowd, getting on players backs etc, that has got to be the recipe for success. Pulling together and teamwork are well over-rated, you can find loads of examples of teams whose crowds are hostile to their own team being extremely successful, and i challenge you to find even one example of a team with a supportive home crowd having any kind of success. So come on people, lets moan our team to victory |
| News Comment | Town Confirm Chopra Exit at 15:49:23
Billy Sharp would be an exciting signing, but i've got a funny feeling our striker situation is sorted now. We are sorted in defence and goal. We are being linked with midfielders? Our wide positions are sorted i think. I would have been happier if we had retained N'Daw, but maybe skuse can play that role? Titus would be brilliant as a midfielder i think, a really dominant presence in the centre of the park. he can score goals as well as his defencive ability, protecting the back four. We wouldn't get bullied out of any games either. A born and bred Ipswich boy at the heart of the Ipswich Town side, our very own midfield general. |
| News Comment | Chopra Rules Out Loan and Pay Cut at 10:43:16
A quality, talented goal poacher. He could easily be top scorer in the championship this season. In my opinion the problem is his relationship with the fans. Our Trolls have got in to his head. Would you be highly motivated to perform for people who were constantly slagging you off? He is a human being just like you and I. Football is simply his job. I think there is a lot of envy involved as well. People are envious that he earns very good money, but wealth has it's downfalls as well. I saw him in town the other day and he didn't look happy or relaxed, almost afraid of what I would say or do. How would you like to live like that? He's not a paedophile or a murderer. He's a man just like the rest of us, he's got his problems just like the rest of us, except his are made worse by his job. If i have a bad day at work, I don't have to be looking over my shoulder when I go to town in case some idiot decides to start abusing me |
| News Comment | Pompey: We've Spoken to Grant But He Might Join Ipswich at 15:31:50
I would be happy if we don,t spend a penny in transfer fees this summer, or break our budget on wages. We are not a big money club and I for one am glad. If I wanted to follow a team that bought success then I would be a fan of one of the 'Big Boys'. I love the fact that we punch above our weight. Alf Ramsey's teams were built from unknowns. Robson's from youth and unknowns. Burley's from youth and lower league players. I don't think I would be anywhere near as proud if that success had been achieved with riches |
| Blog Comment | The Price of Loyal Support at 16:57:37
I think the booing culture is a sign that the demographic of football supporters has changed with the vastly increased ticket prices. Going to PR used to be easily affordable for the working class man. When I left school in 1986 I could go to PR for a pound. To put this in perspective, 20 Benson and Hedges cost me £1.50 and the absolute lowest income I could expect was £27.00 pound if I was unlucky enough to end up on a YTS scheme, because I couldn't find a proper job. Before I left school I could easily afford the 50p it cost me to go from my pocket money, and my Dad was on the dole most of the time, so pocket money was exactly that. Football has been priced out of the range of the working class man now, the support in the stadiums now comes from a different section of society. |
| Blog Comment | Ideas to Increase Gates and Get Portman Road Rocking Again at 16:34:14
Agree with Keanish, 'My Way' is an anthem, but for me also it is a tribute to the late great Sir Bobby. In my dream world 'My Way'would be associated with Town in the same way 'You'll Never Walk Alone' is with Liverpool FC. I also think Matt Munro's 'Dream the Impossible Dream' (Honda advert) is an inspirational song. P.S. The worst think about the matchday experience for me is people around me moaning. I don't want to shell out my hard earned cash to be depressed by people around me. Also in my dream world, lower North and South stands would both be terraced and a ticket to stand would only be fifteen quid. Lets get the working class man back into Portman Road, that will improve everyone's matchday experience because it will bring back the fantastic atmosphere that used to exist at the club. |
| News Comment | Hunt on McCarthy's List at 11:05:40
too old???? i think they should do a study on whether too much computer use retards the brain :-) I would go to wolverhampton and give him a piggy back all the way back to Ipswich if he signed :-) |
| News Comment | Blues in Heskey Talks at 12:17:23
Who says he would be on huge wages? He transformed England when he was brought into the team, anyone claiming differently is claiming black is white, and if you are going to judge a striker purely on the amount of goals he scores, then basically you have a very limited understanding of football |
| News Comment | Blues in Heskey Talks at 19:16:05
Brilliant :-) 110% effort, playing good football, in the spirit of the game, that,s what earns my respect |
| News Comment | Jewell: My Fault, Not Clegg's at 17:30:15
when we defend well, i.e when super sonko plays, we play well and pick up points, so there is not too much wrong with our team, of course those with the emotional maturity of a spoilt 2 year old ( yes most of you who post on here) are not going to see that. If we can bolster our defence during this window i think we will start moving up the league. But this is not championship manager, this is the real world and we cannot always get the players we target, it doesn't mean it's anyone's fault, thats just life. |
| News Comment | Sonko Back for Cup Visit to Hull at 17:04:38
Good news, was always worried about the Forest game once i knew super sonko was suspended. Need to bring in some more defensive options in this window, other than that i think the team is in good shape |
