 | News Comment | Ipswich Town 1-0 OGC Nice - Match Report at 16:43:16
Decent outing against some very classy Nice players. Was definitely 5 at the back for the first hour: Davis and Johnson clearly playing in WB roles (guessing we might try this in the first two league games at least). We looked vulnerable after changing to a 4231 We need more penetration in the final third. Lacked a bit of killer instinct, and Delap doesn’t really look predatory despite tidy general play. Overall, can’t really complain against decent opposition. |
 | News Comment | Town Launch New Membership Scheme at 07:56:24
Anyone old enough to remember the fuss for tickets after promotion in 2000? I was 16, and was unable to afford a season ticket, meaning that I only got to watch about five games per year inder the ‘ballot' system. Success brings increased clamour for tickets, and some of us will inevitably miss out for not being able to commit to a ST. Overall I'd still rather have a full stadium! |
 | News Comment | Cook: From a Winning Position We Found a Way to Give It Up at 09:42:55
Genuinely quite worried by him talking about scoring a third when 2-0 up. Given our recent record, we should be looking to shut the game down, play boring and win 2-0. Very naive to think about scoring a third when you're 2-0 up and rubbish at controlling games. We need to learn this ASAP |
 | News Comment | Work Starts on Cobbold Stand Mural at 09:58:03
I know ill get slated for this but: Not sure chambers should be on there. I totally get his service to the club, but he's literally only just left and he's going to play *against* us this season in the EFL trophy! |
 | News Comment | Judge's Colchester Move Confirmed at 19:25:57
The reason people are worried about a lack of signings is because the manager and board have come out and said everyone from last year can be sold. So the numbers don't really add up, do they? I am quite worried but how big an overhaul this is. Didn't work for Hurst, did it? Haven't seen much from Cook to suggest he's a better motivator... |
 | News Comment | Lee: It Was a Mad Time to Work at the Club at 12:32:40
For a while I've thought that a lot of stuff like this would come out after ME left. It's like he ran the club like Sports Direct: minimum investment and structure, leaving gaping holes. I expect a few more ex employees might weigh in like this, and top respect to Lee for saying this. Hopefully, the new guys know what they're doing. I really hope they do... |
 | News Comment | Town Face Losing Gibbs as Premier League Clubs Hover at 12:42:00
If I were him, I'd leave. Cool seems to be targeting experienced first-team players that are going to be hard to dislodge in the near future, so why not move to a bigger club with a higher wage and probably some loan football at the level he can't break into by staying here? |
 | News Comment | Town to Take Data and Statistics-Led Approach to Recruitment at 09:02:05
It's good news and sounds sensible. Recruitment has been poor for a few years now since MM left, and even then he signed plenty of duds. But you have to ask why the hell haven't we been doing this already..? Have we just relied on recommendations from mates and agents phoning us up to offer players? |
 | News Comment | Portsmouth 2-1 Ipswich Town - Match Report at 16:33:33
I know a lot of people pick out chambers as an easy target, but he's been our worst defender today. First goal he let his man go without trying, and second he's waving his arms about appealing when they ran down his side. If KVY starts next week, it's extremely harsh on either Wilson or Nsiala if Chambers gets moved inside for one of them. Fed up with him as captain. All he does is pump fists if we win. |
 | News Comment | Seven Changes as Blues Host Oxford at 14:39:55
2 years plus to know your best team and formation and here we are, still clueless. This amount of rotation will just get the players' backs up. Get out... |
 | News Comment | Lambert-Evans Meeting Still Later In Week at 11:30:19
I would be happy with any of those for alternatives. Any situation is better than the current awful arguments between everybody at the moment, including fans. But on that list, I would quite like for us to get Pearson. He did an excellent job at Watford, so I would be surprised if he went down to our division. |
 | News Comment | Jackson and Nolan Banished to U23s at 10:27:32
I've heard Steven Warnock walk about how PL did things like this at Villa with no explanation. He just can't stand being questioned because he knows he has no answers! I can't for the life of me understand why we didn't just let them go, even if it was just online, during the window |
 | News Comment | O'Neill: Not Viable to Stay Over and Play Game on Sunday at 07:23:10
I just think that people are complaining because everything about the club is wrong lately. You feel like if we were on form and confident, everything would be done to play it. I also think we should have played. You're telling me that hotels (desperate for income) wouldn't have been able to manage it? I believe at least one might have. A few other games were rearranged this weekend, so why not ours? More games later in the season just kicks the can down the road. |
 | News Comment | No Further Business as January Window Closes at 07:54:34
Overall, pretty happy that we addressed key areas of concern. My one doubt is Harrop because of his injury record, and because we have about fifty no10s now, but whatever. The biggest thing for me is that our squad is absolutely huge now. I can't see why we didn't let more players go. PL hates Jackson but made him stay. He's unconvinced by Nsiala: let him go. We can't just keep collecting players, because that makes the manager even more tempted than normal to keep tinkering with his first Xi. Never mind. I'm sure these will give us a lift, keep PL in a job for a few more weeks until the inevitable happens before the end of the season! |
 | News Comment | Lambert: Kayden Let Everybody Down at 07:13:06
It's annoying because last night was as good as we've played in a while, but how low are our expectations? Another home defeat in league 1 without scoring a goal or even looking like one. The isolated game is encouraging but look at the long term trend since PL took over. Abysmal. |
 | News Comment | Jackson Apologises For Dismissal at 07:08:54
I feel sorry for him. A nasty challenge, but this is a player who's been out of the team, out of position, and desperately trying to impress. Lambert clearly hates him and I'll be amazed if he now doesn't try to sell the guy. |
 | News Comment | Blue Action Newspaper Banner Hits Out at Evans and Lambert at 07:22:45
People will moan. The way I see it, at least it's *something* to remind owner, manager and players that we are so unhappy. If there were fans in grounds as normal right now, can you imagine the atmosphere? Right now, this is about all they can do so well done. |
 | News Comment | Plymouth Boss: Ball in Town's Court on Donacien at 07:31:04
200 is way too much for him and for them to pay! If he earns say, 3k a week, then the rest of his contract is worth about £80-90,000 until august. We're not picking him at all, so surely it's all a waste of money? They've probably offered about 50. I don't see why we won't just sell him and let he go play and be happy. I feel sorry for Him that PL just hasn't rated him from day 1. Should have sold him a while ago! |
