Cook & ST renewals
at 18:04 10 Apr 2021
Maybe the owners were aware of Cook being not quite 100% happy with outcome of takeover and have put back the announcement of the ST push untill Cook confirms hes totally happy working for them. Maybe ME had Cook front and centre the main selling point for ST's.....and now they can't be sure, hence the delay. Hope its none of this. Cook is the right man in my eyes for such a rebuild.

....won't it. No sale of club. No proper summer of investment for Paul Cook to make it 'his' team, squad. He will have to wheel and deal in the free transfer market (bin) .
ST holders will be offered some money off if renewing and told were vital to the club. And next season we're still be watching Chambers & Skuse being rolled out each week to spout more pointless cr@p about how the players should be doing so much better and we should be higher then 12th ...blah blah blah. ITFC, the most depressing club to follow in the whole of football.

Owner Morris calls off proposed sale of club after running out of patience. Speaking to other interested parties now.
Evans, Lambert and The Ham
at 10:46 7 Mar 2021
Exert from today's Football League Paper. Chris Dunlavy column:
'...Yet as the team laboured under the weight of reasonable expectation in League 1, Lambert grew increasingly hostile and defensive. Players with international caps and Championship experience wernt performing, yet the manager defended them to the hilt.
Fair questions about a laboured style , squad rotation and a lack of goals were haughtily - and often angrily- dismissed.
Lambert obliquely blamed the media for issues that clearly ran deeper then a few negative headlines and- in what amounted to managerial suicide- banned a respected local journalist, Phil Ham, from Portman Rd.
Ham is a lifelong supporter with an unimpeachable devotion to the club. To ostracise him was a spectacular own goal and, in the eyes of many fans, symbolic of Lamberts disdain for their concerns.
By the time results improved, goodwill was gone and all bridges burned. Both parties were entrenched.
And when Lambert - still hampered by illness- turned his ire on Evan's,his final lifeline was severed.
Initial reports suggested he was replaced by Paul Cook as part of a prospective takeover , denied by the club but clearly underway. True or not, Evans had tired of Lamberts public criticism of the clubs structure and a face to face row last thursday sealed the managers fate.
Given his conduct in recent months, Lambert can have few complaints- and with a 5 yr contract to cash in, he probably wont.
But the broader reality is that Ipswich were incapable of functioning with an owner tired of owning the club and a manager tired of managing it. One of those problems is fixed;the other- for now-remains a significant impediment to success.
Paul Cook article in Football League paper

...in Chris Dunlavy column. Sorry not techie enough to show whole article. But gives his stats of 3 promotions and career win rate of 43% over 671 matches. He was interviewed by Bristol City when Johnson was sacked but 'did not fit the clubs culture' according to reporters briefed by City hierarchy. It seems he wanted to have more control then the owners were willing to give him. Asked by Talksport why he had not accepted (a disputed) offer by Sheff Wed Cook said "If you want to manage one of these good clubs you have to be allowed to manage. If your not going to be allowed to manage, your an employee and not a manager."
He seems to fit ME's blueprint of a manager in overall charge of the club, but would new owners want that, or just a coach?

Remember him having the power sockets removed from the away dressing room , as Andy Warren had reported some way back? That worked well didn't it. Watching Skuse do the YouTube tour you can spot 2 head height sockets nx to the door frame. I'm guessing opposing teams bring an extension lead!

Being asked re players celebrating when they score, how it's natural to want to. Hows hes never felt so bad as he has since he contacted the virus. And his opinion is football should be suspended now.

Nixon in the Sun claiming Town and Sunderland keen on Ched Evans, tho Preston lead the race to sign him. Personally their welcome to him.
