Jason Steele? Jesus Christ.... So you're going lower than Palmer.

And you're also assuming that a) these players are available, b) these players are interested, c) they would be in our salary bracket.

And Hdlaky was heavily criticised (especially on here) in his early days and significant concern about him. Look at the panic posts on here when Walton got injured at the eve of the season starting and a lot of people doubting Hdlaky.

But here we are again, keeper hasn't even been in the door 5 minutes and people writing him off!

Likewise, in view of the turn of events with Walton's injury and the Muric situation, time was/is heavily running out. Who would you conclude a deal with in the remaining hours?

Bringing in a keeper is the right thing to do
at 12:38 3 Feb 2025

I don't think Slicker will be concerned at all. Walton (when fit) and Palmer will battle out for seemingly number 1. Don't know a lot about Palmer, but Walton would still be my first choice currently.

The only concern would be for Muric as he will no doubt be aware that he's probably third choice now.

But most Premier League clubs have three established goalkeepers and a younger one, as we have Slicker.

Does anyone wish we'd kept hold of Freddie?

He can't even get in a team in League 1 now, so can't imagine he'd hack it in the PL!

This. Because we have had 2 years of winning far more than losing (or even drawing), people are treating like a habit and expecting it to continue. Perhaps the downside of consecutive promotions that people have lost that perception of stabilising each level we went up.

In my mind, I had (apologies) resigned myself to going down in perhaps a worse fashion than 94/95 on the basis that we've come so far so quickly and haven't been able to build the club to a Premiership 'standard' (on and off the field) due to the quickness.

But in fairness, we've done far better than realistically expected and we've not been too out of place in most games.

People need to get a bit of perspective that this season was and is always going to be a survival battle. If we stay up, brilliant. If we don't, we'll be in a stronger financial position (not to mention experience) to build for the next promotion push.

But let's not lose our heads with defeats and maintain the positive drive that has brought us here. It's been a great journey but this season was never going to be plain sailing.

Muric.

Have to say, I feel far more confident and safer with Walton in goal than I do Muric. Whether it's because we're used to Walton, but Muric makes me feel very nervous.

Hope he proves me wrong, but it's a vote for Walton for me all day long right now.

So is consensus Walton and Woolfenden should be dropped…
at 14:15 18 Jan 2025

So Walton has one "questionable" game (depending on how you view it) and he's dropped? And Muric was called into question on how many games and kept his place?

Righto...

Not at all, Walton was sold well short with that backpass. With proper pace, Walton would have cleared with ease and their guy wouldn't have made the effort to go in and challenge.

What is it with the extreme and unnecessary negativity towards our own players lately?

Absolutely no need for it and certainly most of them deserve a lot more respect and credit than is being given here.

We were having a laugh about that. Some of the comments (offside etc) were hilarious, calling offsides that weren't even happening etc.

Reminds me of the lad who appeared on some of the Town videos around 1996 (especially when we beat Leicester 4-2 - "oooh ahh Warky" etc).

I don't think they'll ever return to the old allocations for away fans like they used to. It will only be a token allocation, not like the old 8,000 or so they used to offer.
