Norwich City 1-0 Ipswich Town - Match Report
at 14:58:33

Probably the worst performance of the season, which given the opposition and the importance of the game is quite shocking. We just did not turn up. No intensity, second to most balls and no real threat up front, not least until Hamadi came on. I thought Moore in particular was really poor, especially when he let the ball go out for a corner rather than trying to get it back and create something. Chaplin was barely noticeable, which I cant believe I'm writing given the seasson he's had. Hutchinson seemed devoid of ideas. We barely threatened the goal. We're now hoping that Leeds or Leicester slip up, not where we want to be. I know we've had an amazing run this season and we would all have taken being in this position after 41 games at the start of the season. But its really frustrating to play so poorly and after so much good work this season.

Ipswich Town 2-1 Sunderland - Match Report
at 19:51:45

Great result. Lot to say about it. Thought Travis had a good first game, Davis was a little off it at times with his passing (although great assist for Chappers' goal) and Clarke had a mixed game with a good performance but some poor passing at times. But for me I wanted to note Kayden Jackson. I know he's got lots of doubters on here, but I thought he battled really well and pressed hard and I was delighted he got his goal, which he took really well. Not a MotM performance but good and deserves some praise.

Great result and good collective performance given the absences and new players. COYB.

Farke: We Controlled the Game in All Aspects
at 20:03:33

£203m squad v £26m squad. One full of players playing in the premier league last season, one with players playing in league 1 last season. One gets protected and enhanced through around £30m worth of funds for being relegated, ie failing, the other gets about £500k for being promoted.

I'm not saying today was just about the money, we were poor in various positions and while KM has done an outstanding job in shaping this team to play fantastic football, we didn't seem to have any answers to Leeds today. But, how can any team expect to consistently compete against such a huge financial disadvantage? And how can it be fair that teams that fail should be given so much when teams that succeed get next to nothing? I get the logic of parachute payments, but £30m a year on top of all other revenue? Imagine what KM could do with that!

Leicester Return to Top
at 07:15:58

The Norwich game obviously feels important, hugely important and meaningful as a fan and we need and expect three points given our form. But, the Leeds and Leicester games are the really crucial games. If we lose those two matches then we still have a bit of a cushion, but it’ll affect confidence and will give impetus to those chasing. But, if we can get something out of those two games and follow them up with a convincing win against QPR then we’ll be fine and will maintain a significant buffer going into the New Year. That will give a psychological boost to us and similarly be dispiriting to those chasing as we enter the downhill stage of the season (I always think after Christmas it’s all downhill to May)…

…But, what do I know about football other than under KM we’re playing the game amazingly well. If I really knew what I was talking about I’d be earning a lot more money than I do managing my own team.

Selective 'highlights'. What about the goal that was disallowed for reasons that are still unclear.

Holden: A Humbling Experience
at 21:47:18

And,... I just don't get Innis. You're 5-0 down with minutes left. You're going to lose. Why make a foul that you know is going to get you sent off and banned for several games, and at the business end of the season? So you lose by an extra goal, what do you care when you're 5-0 down. The sending off was stupid and only harmed his team mates for the next few games. I hope our boys are a lot more intelligent than that.

Cheltenham Town 1-1 Ipswich Town - Match Report
at 17:40:03

We were too wasteful today, a few long range shots when there was a easier and better opportunity to square to players in space. Harness was really poor, and his passing demonstrating that he was not at all in sync with those around him. Really frustrating day. I'm getting tired of playing Cheltenham and their ilk. Not much better than a pub team, hoof ball into the wind ina stadium that's barely fit for non-league football. I know they play to their strengths and it clearly works for them but it's not a great advert for good football or the EFL. Plus it doesn't say much about us that after two years we still can't figure out how to beat them.

That said, some good performances and we didn't lose. It was always going to hurt when the run ended, so I reserve the right to amend my grumpy summary above when I've calmed down. At least Plymouth lost, and it's still in our hands to secure automatic promotion.

Referee Madden to Face No Action
at 15:37:19

Big question for me is what happens of we miss out on automatic promotion by 3 points this year, and subsequently lose in the play offs? The financial implications are huge and I'm sure the club would want to take legal action against the EFL. For the EFL's own sake they should be conducting a transparent and thorough investigation as it could come back to bite them later. And of course, there's the broader fairness point.

Great result. But that pitch looked awful. The sooner we get out of this league and back to decent pitches the better.

That pitch looks terrible, I've seen better playing in the local Sunday leagues. I know we're in the third tier of English football now, but it's still a professional league. Time we had professional pitches too.

Town Linked With Stoke Striker Gregory
at 14:17:27

It's great that we are getting linked to a number of players, many of whom appear quite decent. But am I the only one who's worried that we've let a load of players go/or told them they can leave, and yet still don't have a full squad of talent a month away from the start of the season?

Lambert: I Won’t Have a Player Say They’d Rather Be at Home With the Wife and Kids
at 09:47:25

This is shocking management. It's totally understandable that someone would want to spend time with their family, if they were not working. The key point here is - did Lambert say to the team "look, I need you all with me on these away trips, but there's a chance not all of you will make the final 18. It's about being ready and prepared, and about maintaining team spirit." If he did and Nolan then said "I'd rather be at home with the wife and kids" then I totally agree with Lambert. But do any of us believe that is how he manages his team?

And when questioned "what do they need to do to get back in the team" the answer is "I don't know"! That is an appalling statement from a manager. It's his job to motivate and inspire the team, to set them a vision of what they can all achieve together and how he wants them to develop individually. If he can't do that or doesn't know how, then he and the owner really should be questioning whether he is capable of doing the job for which he is employed.

Ipswich Town 0-1 Peterborough United - Highlights
at 09:29:28

I didn't see the game, but according to the highlights our first effort toward goal came from our full back at some point in the second half, and we only had one attempt on target the entire game. We think of ourselves as promotion candidates, were playing at home and with a nearly full strength side. How is that acceptable? I'd understand if we were playing excellent opposition, but Peterborough didn't look that good.

Blackpool Boss: Town Couldn't Agree Tilt Fee
at 16:44:43

Toxtethblue - upmarked you by mistake. This isn't a question of us not being willing to pay, it's a question of a club being unrealistic and stubborn and standing in the way of a great opportunity for a player. It's sad and must be immensely disappointing for Tilt. Oyston has obviously over valued his player to try and squeeze more money from buyers, fair enough. But £1m on a player who's only had one good season and to refuse to even negotiate on the price is just greedy and pig headed, especially when the player only has a year left on his contract.

Blackpool Boss: Town Couldn't Agree Tilt Fee
at 16:27:44

Being from Blackpool and having seen what the Oyston's have done to that club I am not surprised at their stubborn and unrealistic behaviour. It's a shame for the player, for us and for the Blackpool team (although I guess it's unlikely that any funds paid would not be reinvested). As much as we need a new CB, I'm glad on one thing, our money isn't going to flow into Oyston's pocket. Let's wait a few months, get him on the cheap or on a free.

Boro Linked With Knudsen
at 13:16:41

As disappointing as it would be to lose the two of them, £10m is quite a good sum and, by the looks of recent weeks, would be reinvested into the club. With the additions we're currently linked with and perhaps another striker we could be in good shape. But need to get the new players in soon.

Ipswich Town 2-2 Blackburn Rovers - Match Report
at 17:39:28

Some positives to take from today, mainly the new boys who I thought all had a good game. There was still shades of last year's hoof it, but overall the tactics looked good and I think the team, in time, will gel well together.

But despite the many positives one player stood out for me who wasn't good enough - Skuse. He lacked the control, the creativity and the energy you need of someone in the middle. I think Chalobah is better in that position and I'd like to see either Dozzell, Huws or Bishop alongside him.

Sears takes some stick, but did OK. He would make a good back up player to Morris, who showed some lovely touches when he came on and, imo, should start ahead of Sears.

McGoldrick on Trial With Blades
at 01:57:22

Lot of criticism on here for him, which is a shame. He is clearly a gifted footballer who we all liked to watch and were happy to praise when he was banging the goals in. I wish he hadn't been injured as much, I guess he does too. But footballers get injured, some more than others, it's part of the game. Good luck to him, I hope he gets another club and I wish him well - just not against Ipswich :)

But on the commuting point, I agree with other comments - who agreed a six hour round trip
