If Philogene thinks he can get more money and Champions League football, I'm not sure that some Ipswich fans finding him unprofessional will deter him from accepting an offer, sadly. Personally I would find it disappointing, but not unprofessional. He has signed no contract with us, and if the reports on the contractual position are true, we cannot sign him during the period when Villa have the right to make Hull a matched offer. If that is true, the parties know that Ipswich's offer is just one offer and that there is another party with a right to make one. I don't see what's unprofessional about considering all of the offers which are on the table at the end of a known offer window.
Let's hope Villa's interest comes to nothing and he ends up a Town player. I thought he was such a good player last year that we wouldn't have had a chance, even before the Barcelona link, so Ashton and the boys seem to be doing a fine job. Fingers crossed. |

What does "recalled" mean in this context? We have finished our season, and we were told that it was a season-long loan. Was he still officially a Town player until a fixed date in the future unless Chelsea exercised this recall? One element of protecting the FA Cup's importance is for the teams in the top two divisions to bother putting out decent strength teams. Maidstone didn't need a replay to make it past us this year, and our record over the last decade has been laughable. We have a vested interest in maintaining the idea that the FA Cup matters - it's the last domestic trophy of any real importance that we have won. We should give it the respect that it deserves. |

He also comes across as having his head screwed on and being a decent guy, so not a bad mentor for that young talent. However, with the emergence of Luongo (and the consequential burden reduced on Humphreys' shoulders), this is no longer the urgent matter that it once was, and I'm sure nobody will be rushed back. |
