x5 the salary knowing we were doomed to go down Time to cut our losses and hope that he leaves quickly before he does anymore damage to our club |

Wolves H West Ham H Leicester A Brentford H Wolves also don’t pick up a single point for the rest of the season and we stay up by 3 points Easy |

That’s my biggest disappointment towards McKenna this season and something that he is in control over (injured and suspensions aside) yet inexplicably decides to do. A lot of our success was down to unchanged teams whenever it was possible. Things like Woolfy and Burgess playing well then being dropped, an ever changing midfield etc. Bringing players back into the starting 11 who have been injured, who then get injured again. It doesn’t feel like he actually knows his best team and hasn’t this whole season. |

We barely had a scouting network in this country. Half our signings were players McCarthy was mates with or had managed before. We even had Kevin Bru asking if his mate Larsen Toure could come for a trial and gave him a years deal |
 | Forum Reply | This season can get in the bin at 12:58 4 Mar 2025
We are so far from competing at this level. Every mistake is punished and it seems like we have it on rotation that every game is a different player’s turn to lose us the game. Not being able to see out literal minutes has taken a few wins from us, and a few draws. No settled side for the whole season, even when players are fit, is the most disappointing thing. As well as the PR from the club being how much we are “learning” every game. It’s March now, how much can we learn from more mistakes costing us, or that we can’t defend from a set piece 3 times in a match? Add VAR decisions and to me, it just feels unfair, unenjoyable and has destroyed everything good we have built (even though we factually are in a much better and privileged position). And the depressing thing is that if we do well next season the reward is…probably this season again! |

We’re filthy rich after this season and will continue to be for the next 3 or 4 seasons even if we go down. Not even counting their wealth and ability to spend it Hardly failing |
 | Forum Reply | This season continues to troll us at 11:39 26 Feb 2025
If we go up again, as obvious as it is to say, we need a good start. Going into every game this season with the media narrative of “Ipswich haven’t won in 20+ years in the Prem” which then became a slow start, which then became only Ipswich haven’t won a game, only Ipswich haven’t won a home game to now just that we aren’t good enough and are buried. Combine that with last minute goals, dodgy VAR decisions against us, individual mistakes in almost every match costing us and it’s been tough |

I read that only players will get meals at the training ground. Coaches and staff will get soup and bread. Whilst you should be thankful for whatever is free, I can’t think of a better way to drive a wedge between staff |

We will have to get used to being the favourites, and the pressure from that, in almost every game again, as we were in league 1 under McKenna for most games. We were definitely favourites in some games last season, but now with the weight of tens of millions of £ players in our squad and close to £100 mill in parachute money. |
 | Forum Reply | Is it really a surprise where we are? at 11:41 23 Feb 2025
We have just applied (had accepted?) planning permission for training ground improvements. We don’t have Cat 1 academy. We don’t seem to have a great scouting network. We have sht the bed a little this season, seemingly without Tony Bloom’s help, also not going for any European players or further afield. We were hurriedly trying to get the stadium ready to even just have more tv cameras in the ground all summer. It’s definitely no surprise we’re here, but the worst part is the Norwich, Leeds, Sheff Utd, Watford and fans of other recent Prem teams were right. There is very little hope in staying up and it’s a depressing slog to get through a season. |

Thanks for the replies. Wasn’t honestly trying to stir the pot or anything. Just wondered if fans would rather we be ruthless like Brighton/Forest etc were to stay up at all costs. I personally wouldn’t have enjoyed it if we’d parted with McKenna, stayed up this season, to begin a depressing slog again next season without him. |

Say a Moyes, Dyche etc and we ended up staying up, would you have taken that over going down with McKenna (who will almost certainly leave us in the summer anyway - survival or not)? I’m not saying I want him to go, and will go on record for saying I don’t and dread when he eventually leaves, just posing the question. It’s well known we would never sack him and he was on one of the best contracts in the league. Also obviously the other sides about to be relegated have also sacked managers and it hasn’t worked. It’s purely hypothetical to see how much people would want to stay in this league for at least another season Parting with McKenna and playing Dyche ball for a handful of 1-0s to keep us up, would personally ruin everything we’ve built over the past few seasons, yet teams like Brighton seem that ruthless to do that to survive here (and did that). |
 | Forum Reply | The death of the football ground at 11:12 9 Feb 2025
The money people at football clubs want open concourses for a number of reasons: more opportunities to sell food and drink, faster service to sell things quicker, pop up shops and other merch stalls, fans wanting to mix before the game and at half time with mates in different stands, it increases revenue for non-segregated events such as music concerts, better and spacious hospitality, I assume it’s better for fire safety and evacuation as well. Sadly that means those circular/oval bowls are the only option. I went to Spurs vs Wolves and it does really work though. You can get a pint in under a minute where I was. There were queues for merch stalls as the main shop was too slow getting in. It must make a mint on matchdays, particularly as they keep kiosks open for fans to meet after the game and grab more beers. |
 | Forum Reply | Gut feeling - are we getting a new striker? at 20:41 30 Jan 2025
I feel like this is an area where we doomed ourselves to the drop this year. Reading back through this forum in the summer and people were disappointed we didn’t get another striker in the summer but we’re hopeful it would be resolved in January. We’re now days away from ending the season with Delap and Hirst as the two forwards at the club. At least I will get an away ticket and see Hazza Clarke start for us in August 🤪🤪 |

We are 100% preparing for the championship and I can’t wait to go to some Away games next season |

And it looks like the one player we needed this window, a striker, is something we won’t be getting. How many people were saying just crawl to the transfer window so we can get that striker. And here we are |
 | Forum Reply | Gwalia Utd v Ipswich abandoned at half time at 14:21 26 Jan 2025
So they replay the whole game? Play 1 half? Give Ipswich the win? I think McKenna said after the Oxford game that when they wanted the game to be ended due to fog, the ref said the current result (a draw at the time) would stand and would not be replayed. |
