Here is what the armband campaign is about, from the Premier League site:
"A key focus of the partnership with Stonewall encourages LGBT+ acceptance among children and young people involved in community and education initiatives such as Premier League Primary Stars and Premier League Kicks, and within Academies. Coaches, teachers and leaders are equipped with bespoke resources and programmes developed by the League and Stonewall which promote positive attitudes towards the LGBT+ community."
I honestly don't understand how so many people on this site find it acceptable that Sam refuses to support this initiative based on his religion. Would you say the same if it was one of those right-wing evangelical Christians doing the same?
By doing so, he is drawing attention to the intolerance of some, not all, Muslims to accepting same-sex relationships. That's not a matter of free speech but intolerant speech and it is not the role of a captain to advocate that in my opinion. [Post edited 3 Dec 2024 9:46]

...If Wrexham, Grimsby and Fleetwood lose their replays (all fairly likely) and we win at Burnley (not so likely but still got a chance). My wife has just tested positive for Covid so we won't be making the trip after all. Have two tickets for FGR in Covered Standing section. Can send first class post today or you can pick up from Downham Market (yes, Norfolk). Cost 21 quid each and would obviously appreciate recouping costs but if you are struggling it's more important that 2 extra voices are there supporting the Town so let me know what you can do.

Many of us have had enough contact with certain Millwall fans to know that it's no coincidence they are booing an anti-racist gesture. But some argue that this is about freedom of expression. If you're tempted by that argument please go on Twitter, look at the pages of those using that as a justification for booing. Almost to a man (yup, 95% male) they are Tommy/Farage/Trump fans.
