Maybe but I don’t think it’s the case. If we have a way we can keep Delap then we surely would do that. Probably academic as almost certainly we don’t have a way to keep Delap! |

Assuming the story is correct but that wasn’t really what I was contesting - more that we aren’t under FFP pressure to sell was the point I was making. |

Where’s it reported we have to sell Delap? It doesn’t stack up for me that we do although of course I could be wrong. I’m of the opinion that we’ll only really struggle to be compliant with FFP should we not be promoted after 2 years. |

Apparently Alan Curbishley doesn’t have a place there. So says Alan Curbishley. |

I suspect this season we actually have considerable PSR headroom - prob PSR profit plus allowed losses of just over £30m, next season we’ll likely run a PSR loss but be ok because of this season and the season after if we don’t make it we’ll probably be flying close to the wind but ok without the need to sell. Think a third season in the championship without parachute payments would be crunch time with the rolling 3 year accounting process. We’d want to take measures to avoid a fire sale in a couple of years time so wouldn’t be at all surprised if we don’t mind some big money coming in the next couple of windows though: *all of the above was worked out on a packets of fags and even if correct still depends on the continued investment of the own owners. |

If he scores 15-20 goals for a Brighton, Bournemouth Brentford etc I think he’d comfortably force his way into the conversation for the World Cup squad. If we keep him I think we’ll have done something truly incredible. |

You’re right the messaging from the club both from KMac and especially Ashton isn’t consistent with the news story on the release clause. They could very easily have not stressed how well protected we are and not said about Delap potentially not leaving and I don’t really see what they gain by doing so if we’re not well protected and Delap is definitely leaving. |

It being legit is one thing but does the headline £30m release clause cover the whole arrangement? Eg. Any restrictions on dates between which the clause can be activated, conditions about clubs it applies to and of course the sell on fee. |

This is total horse sh it no pun intended. ‘The owner’ were owned by a pension fund and numerous others. Horse sh it. ‘The owner spent….’ Just for one of the rare times in the last 25 years, no the owners didn’t spend. The money came from the club’s premier league revenue. I’m bored now but the rest is horse sh it too. |

It’s a fairly standard tactic to manage people. The worse things get for people over there the more his followers perceive they need his leadership. He will never make his supporters prosperous and happy because they won’t need him then….Farage the same. |

His oxygen is hate and anger. The very thing that keeps his core support in line is their own misery and needing someone to blame for it and someone who ‘gets it’ in charge. He’s invested in making America as hateful, resentful and angry as possible…that’s the plan. |

On a serious note I’m not buying for a second he’s pissed off with Putin. Tomorrow he will have been treated very badly and lied to by Zelenski and it will all turn full circle. |

To be honest as much as I detest Trump and his administration for their sheer evilness and dishonesty, it’s actually their stupidity that troubles me most. They seem ok with deliberately harming people but the potential for what they might do by accident is infinite harm. |
 | Forum Reply | So many mistakes this season at 17:07 20 Mar 2025
Agree - the squad we have now is much closer to being capable in the premier league than the one we came up with. It’s not time to throw the baby out with the bath water and talk of cutting our losses on expensive signings just is wildly off the mark. We need to replace Delap and refresh central midfield and beyond that just look at replacing anyone else we sell and if we do sell only do so for fees that make the sale worth it for us. |
 | Forum Reply | Musings for next seasons squad at 07:46 17 Mar 2025
Be interesting to see what approach we take to recruitment. You’d have thought we’d be in a pretty good position to do deals like Southampton did with the Harwood-Bellis loan to perm option that gets activated when promoted. We’re also going to be pressed right up against the 25 player squad limit so there has to be some outs and under 21 signings could be really useful in terms of squad depth. And also we must try and sign Cajuste. Long shot but i think a little bit like Joe said on the BM podcast that it isn’t absolutely impossible…even if it’s probable he’ll get more interesting offers than we can give. |
 | Forum Reply | He really isn't.... at 07:34 17 Mar 2025
I’d maybe say he’s a bit better than that but like a lot of players who came through the leagues his level is hard to judge. All being said and done last season he was first choice in a championship promotion team and while being a reserve in a premier league team is one thing it’s quite another to be a reserve in championship team. I imagine he’ll get some interesting offers over the summer maybe the old firm in Scotland would fancy him who knows. Chances he stays are very slim imho |
 | Forum Reply | I would nick Sainz and Sargent at 10:31 15 Mar 2025
We’ll be a parachute club next season so financially in a different league and in the top 2-3 favourites to win the league….Is Sargent that highly rated that he’d be out of our league? I’m sure it would be hard to do as it’s them but surprised to think he’d be out of our league. |
