Exactly this - he's squeezing more out of most these players than any previous manager ever has, and likely more than any other manager (in our reach) would be able to. Our captain has been a Championship journeyman for most of his career, our number 9 was a promising but not brilliant RW for Hull last season, our number 10 was someone who'd barely played any senior football before he played for McK, etc etc. Even some of our more experienced players, like O'Shea and Ogbene, suffered a relegation last season. We've added a bit of elite experience in Phillips and Johnson but both have been injured for a significant amount of time. The fact that we still (on our best days) look capable of staying up is amazing - especially given the injuries we've had. So when I see us do something I don't quite understand on the pitch, I don't think wooaah maybe McKenna's not up to the premier league, I think: this man has proven time and time again that he knows how to get the best out of players, and his knowledge and instructions are beyond my understanding. I realise that this conclusion kind of negates the whole point of a football forum, but it's the only one that makes sense. |

Not going to Swansea but still waiting for my Millwall ticket! |

I fast forward through the fans’ stuff to listen to MM! I don’t mind him taking for a long time when most sentences are insightful. The fans’ calls and texts on the other hand, tend to be devoid of anything interesting for me. You know exactly what they’re going to say before they’re even read out! Each to their own, I guess. |

That’s obviously a silly thing to say but I think he’s great in general and I’m surprised by the criticism of him in this thread. MM knows more about football than all of us combined. We’re lucky to have him. |

Are you in a hotel? Apparently that can look like a VPN to the system. Would try from another location - if that doesn’t work you’ll need an (undetectable) VPN! |

Hope you're right but can't see it personally - general consensus is that Fulham will go fairly strong and lots of our fringe players haven't played in ages. |
 | Forum Reply | Antisemitism yesterday at 10:37 30 Oct 2023
The tricky thing is that the world really is run by people with money and influence - but obviously those people span all races and religions. So when people talk about the first part of that without explicitly stating the second part, I understand it can sound like (and sometimes actually is) an anti-semitic dog whistle. |

Lots of teams do this and I'm not 100% sure of the reasoning but I think it's something like: If you pass to the goalkeeper he then has 10 players in front of him to pass to. Or he can take a few touches and draw the press, opening up space elsewhere. If the goalkeeper passes to the defender from the goal kick, then the defender only has 9 players in front of him to pass to. |

Especially impressive when you look at the CVs of our team. Bar Luongo, Morsy and Chaplin there isn't much Championship experience in there - and four of our back five (including Hladky) couldn't get into our league one team at times in the last three seasons! |

Would you rather a prime Venus or a prime Herman to fill our current LCB void, Gav? Venus had the better left foot: the only CB I've known to take corners, and from memory they were incredible. Herman was more mobile and better at dribbling. Plus he jumped into the North Stand when he hadn't scored that time. Venus for me, for almost purely emotional reasons. |

Agree with you on that - I just don’t think a centralised badge is necessarily clunky! Do you think the 97-99 one is? Germany also had a nice one with a centralised badge recently. They do have the advantage of not having a sponsor though. |

Agreed. I’m surprised by the negative reaction on here, and the strength of that feeling. The 97-99 kit was one of our best ever and that has a centralised badge. Although it’s relatively unusual this isn’t some new-fangled thing! |

Good player but we need a left footer. Unless Edmundson isn’t going to be fit for next season. |
