Jamal Lewis or Kortney Hause on a Free?
at 10:52 4 Sep 2025

But if Clarke is going on loan inJanuary which I would say is likely and if Johnson moves on as well for a fee from a premier league side, could just leave young and furlong and then we would be looking for a back up LB in that case anyway.

I can’t see Clarke even getting on the bench with how McKenna doesn’t like putting defenders on the bench so don’t think it changes much anyway if we did something like that.

Could we look at one of these for a natural cover for LB on a contract until end of the season.

Potentially not register Harry Clarke and then loan him in January? He’s realistically not going to play any minutes with Young, Johnson and Furlong being bought in so could it be a possibility to bring in one of them and put some balance to the team?

I’m not to sure we are?

The squad is unbalanced, 4 players who’s primary position is RB, Baggot cover for LCB and no cover for Azor or Davis - I understand we’ve got players we can fit it to cover but it’s not there primary best positions.

Last time in the likes of Luongo, Burgess and Morsy, there was an abundance of experience of playing in the EFl, the Azor gets injured, not having the likes of a Lewis Travis to come in will hinder us IMO - we don’t need 4 LCM, we should of loaned Taylor/Humphries out and bought in Cover for Azor, someone like a Travis who knows the league inside out- sent Baggot out on Loan and again bought in a championship experienced CB like a Harry Darling who was on a FREE - and instead of buying Furlong, bought in natural cover for Leif!

Just feels like the squad is unbalanced and we’ve made a lot of mistakes but I guess time will tell! The squad cost £130m and we shouldn’t be looking this unbalanced.

I get this but also buying players doesn’t guarantee success. Look at us in our promotion season, we signed 4/5 players that summer?

The team we beat for promotion:

Leeds
And Southampton in the league

It’s not as simple as buying success and moving onto a ‘new chapter’

I keep hearing this but I don’t get the argument, we want players who can play a position and stick to it. If we just keep moving players about the pitch then there’s going to be so many issues.

Its ok to have a couple of utility players but when half you squad is that, then I really don’t understand what we are doing. After spending £200m you would want players to fit the system really well not finding players that can play multiple positions to an ok level. doesn’t make sense.

That’s half of the problem, I don’t think anyone knows what our best side is and whose best position is where.

You can’t change 75% of your squad like we did last summer and now like we have this summer, to me that just seems like madness.

GK - 3 - palmer, Walton, button - (think we’re ok in this position)
RB - 4 - Johnson, Young, Furlong, Clarke - why on earth do we have 4 right backs!?!)
LB - 1 - Davis - (looks a shell of himself)
CB - 4 O Shea, Greaves, Kipre, Baggott (including baggot which seems like madness, he should be on loan)
CM - 5 Azor, Cajuste, Nunez, Taylor, Humphries (humphries now 5th choice which again seems like madness but probably the position we are best in)
RW - 3 - burns, Mcateer, Sindre (all got a lot to prove for different reasons)
CAM - 2 - szmodics and Akpom (Szmodics not sold on him in that 10 position)
LW - 2 - Philogene and Clarke (Both really have pressure to kick on now)
ST - 2 - Hirst and Azon (Hirst been so disappointing this season so far)

There is so much pressure and so many question marks on this squad in my opinion, with a lot of them needing to step up and show there worth.

McKenna and Ashton have a lot to answer for if this goes wrong…

Woolfie for £4m
at 12:00 1 Sep 2025

Got £4m combined for Woolfy and Burgess (who turned down a deal due to the length of the deal)

For

Greaves and o Shea (combined at least £30m)

I do think last years transfer window is starting to get exposed at how poor it really was.

AAH to Luton - loan

Good deal I think.

Reckon we’ve got £5/£6m for Woolfy and maybe a loan fee for Ogbene of £1m if it’s a season long loan.

£10m for them 3 would be good business I think (with ogbene returning)

Not good enough…. Again
at 19:39 30 Aug 2025

But we’re not even making the runs in behind which is concerning. Philogene had no urgency to run in behind nor did anyone really. If we’re going to score goal we need willing runners to do so.burns, broadhead and Hutchinson would get the ball and drive with it making defenders have to make a decision, now we just pass the ball side to side and make it so easy for defenders.

Not good enough…. Again
at 19:15 30 Aug 2025

The lack of attacking intensity is concerning, we’re nowhere near direct enough. Philogene got the ball in a couple of really good positions and instead of being direct and taking his player on, he did a couple of feints before moving the ball backwards. Davis on the left hand side has completely lost his attacking Oomph, everyone knows he is devastating on the overlap and the times he did it today, he got the ball and delivered the ball in good areas but is not doing it anywhere near enough. Hirst for me has been a real disappointment so dar this season, I really thought he would have a good start to this season but has been really disappointing imo. Mcateer seems a bit lightweight and didn’t do really anything.

I’m struggling to see what we are doing in our attack, there seems to be no fluidity at all. We get into good areas and then seem lost, and not even crossing the ball before recycling and going again, just seems a real concern to go 4 games and score one from open play. We need to be more direct in our play and really pushing forward and stretching teams like we did in our promotion season but we really seem off it at the moment!

Sindre Walls Egeli interview - basically wants to join if clubs agree a few
at 20:58 25 Aug 2025

https://bold.dk/fodbold/klubber/fc-nordsjaelland/nyheder/fcn-komet-bekraefter-bu

Sindre Walle Egeli is aware of the offer from Ipswich Town and feels ready for the next step, even though he is thriving at FC Nordsjælland. The 19-year-old FCN comet tells Bold.

The 19-year-old FC Nordsjælland profile has been reported by TV 2 Norway to be close to a move to Ipswich Town.

The PL relegation team is said to be willing to pay 150 million kroner for the Norwegian.

There have been reports about Ipswich, have you heard about their interest?

- Yes, I know that an offer has been made, so it's up to the clubs to see if they can agree.

arsenal brought on a 15-year-old today

Funnily enough Max Dowman was at Ipswich as a kid and then had to choose between Ipswich and Arsenal at u8s. Unfortunately with his dad being an Arsenal fan, he chose Arsenal 🤣

What could of been! But no doubt even if he had stayed, he would have been cherry picked by one of the top clubs anyway.

I think there’s a lot of problems and it’s hard to say whats needed.

Even if we sign 3/4 players in the next week, we will still look disjointed as they aren’t a team. We’ve let far too many players leave and I think that was partly due to McKenna’s insistence on playing new signings last year which cost lots of money but in reality weren’t any better but more importantly the players we had knew the system and how to play it which money can’t buy.

I made a post last week and got slated. The last 3 transfer windows have been nothing short of dreadful.

Last years was signing players who had wonder seasons e.g. Clarke, Greaves and Szmodics and fair enough Delap and Hutchinson worked but there were many more misses than hits which is quite obvious now. Philogene, Villa signed for 13m and then 6 months later we sign him for £20m despite him not playing and it being clear we lacked physicality in the prem at that time in attack. Just completely baffling.

This year he said we going to get it done early and now we look desperate. Said we wanted physicality and then signs McAteer for £14m?!? Makes no sense and contradicts everything he has said and tbh I don’t exactly trust him to get it right which might sound harsh

The CMs looked ok because Preston let them have the ball as they knew they couldn’t create anything with it. They didn’t even have to defend that hard, as it was always sideways and backwards when we got to their box. We looked completely and utterly lost and out of ideas 30 mins into the game

I don’t even think he says much wrong but his insistence on playing one way and one way only is costing us, no plan B and it’s looking like teams are finding it easier and easier to play against us. It just seems like we’ve lost the spark we once had and I’m not sure it will get reignited anytime soon, everything at the moment just feels slow. Spent £17m on greaves and I’m not sure he’s any better than Burgess but our insistence to play greaves meant burgess didn’t want to play second fiddle. Same with broadhead, I think if we started him last year, he wouldn’t have wanted to move on. Azor looks so far off the pace, doesn’t drive the team forward.

Looks like a team of Individuals rather than a team which is the worrying thing.

I have no idea why people keep pretending this is ok. Don’t think this about being negative but our transfer window has been a joke so far. We haven’t had a clear cut chance in 3 games that I can think of. We’ve looked lethargic in every game. Taylor is somehow still starting 3 games into the season. Clarke is Clarke. Philogene pretends to kick the ball before cutting in and passing it sideways. Davis looks a shell of himself.

Not good enough from the players, to McKenna or to Ashton.
