The state pension will rise by 4.7% next year.
at 17:22 16 Sep 2025

I’m in my mid-thirties and I expect most people my age who think about their retirement are probably not expecting a state pension at all (or at best at some age well over 70) but even at my age a lot of people would have contributed around half of their necessary NI payments and so you’d piss off a few generations of people in ever agreeing to do it.

It is obviously the right thing to do because the cost is just going to increase hugely over time and the tax take won’t be able to keep up, but it will probably be political suicide for whoever does it.

And also create greater disparity when those with parents who don’t own a home won’t get an inheritance against those that will.

There is a horrible gap that is widening before our eyes and a lot of hate being directed at the wrong places because of it.

My friend's wife is Indian and goes mad for Chennai Dosa and also recommends the biriyani place inside the Tower Food Hall in terms of authentic Indian stuff.

Think that was more in response to Nunez coming on and Godfrey having a bit of a mare.

Genuinely made me jump. I was about 30 seconds away from leaving the house without a coat and walking so glad it allowed me to rethink that decision.

I've heard we had a good week or so with the non-international lads (including a win behind closed doors in a friendly) so I was trying to think what our team might have been for that (not that I think it will start):

Palmer
Furlong Kipre Greaves Davis
Matusiwa Cajuste
Philogene Akpom Clarke
Azon

Parking tonight
at 09:17 12 Sep 2025

Not sure whether they are in effect tonight, but there were road closures placed around the ground after the Derby game that meant traffic in the immediate vicinity of Portman Road was gridlocked. I'd look into that and park outside of that region.

Trump’s Oval Office speech after Charlie’s Kirk death is I’m afraid poor
at 08:47 11 Sep 2025

I’d never heard of the guy before yesterday but I’d say his statement on shootings was in poor taste for those who would have died in shootings previously and so I don’t think it is out of line to use it in the same context.

Yes, thankful to have got a code and fingers crossed for Friday.

Would have liked to have seen them abroad but understand (and appreciate) the way they’ve managed the ticket buying process.

WBA 21/22

Palmer - stopgap solution to a problem, not sure he's very good but given the circumstances it was a fine signing. WBA's manager was very adamant that he didn't want him to go.

O'Shea - didn't sign from WBA.

Furlong - captained the side this season and a good Championship player. Adds depth to cover injuries.

Townsend - cheap (and as you say yourself) capable depth.

Kipre - didn't sign from WBA.

I don't see any issue with any of those signings individually, do you? Our 'talent ID' (waanky term) has secured us more incoming transfer fees this summer than we've probably accrued in the history of the club combined so I'm wondering why you're focussing on these relatively unimportant players to have a weird dig.

The ramblings of a madman.

Please don't get too caught up on where our backup defenders came from, it's not important.

The Nations League is actually good and has been a success, I think the qualifiers are the problem.

Szmodics injured.

Think McKenna wants to play a more physical/faster player in that central role as a second striker rather than a floaty 10, which suits Akpom and Szmodics more. Also think he wants proper width from his wider attackers too.
