Just managing expectations, I am fairly confident but also could imagine there's a chance we are all left disappointed. He has very clearly has been keeping his options open, for all we know he agreed in principle and flew down today to basically confirm everything, or he could have wanted to meet face to face before making a choice.
I mean the Teeside thing was a bit of a giveaway really, I am sure there is plenty of private traffic out of Newcastle. Has to be him to be that quick a turnaround.
Glad he sat down with us at least before making his decision. Club couldn't have done any more to try and get it done.
I don't buy into the Spurs stuff at all but there are at least 2 other PL clubs that would not surprise me. Pointless speculating and refreshing twitter
Not helped by a slightly slow summer and a few notable exits.
The club will know they it would be a tough one to pull off and seems like they are close but if it does not happen hopefully we have a back up plan to execute. and fast!
This is a shame, the Patriots first pre season game is the same day as our opener next Friday. They will use the occasion for a statue unveil, so assume he will be in New England not the West Midlands. I was hoping Brady would walk in front of the away end like he did before Wexham and get a similar reception. Would have made for great content!
They're business looks really good to me and they had been out a while, plus were a mess in League 1. I still think our strategy was slightly off last year unless we had all but accepted relegation but we look in great shape for this season.
Without jinxing it I think we will get this done in the next 48-72 hours. Sure, a serious offer may make a PL club act I guess but I just don't see why they would have waited until now to be honest.
The odd rumor without firm interest and the club would not be pursuing this so aggressively if they didn't think he would join us. Boro also need to invest some of it. Things can always break down or things can always happen but I am pretty confident.
Weirdly our PL failure with spending so big a level down last year may have helped us somewhat on this deal.
Had a 15 goal season in 22/23 that you glossed over and 6 in an awful Blades side at PL level, so he has had decent seasons in front of goal yes. That would suggest in a good attacking team he could be a viable option as back up.
You can hate him (I don't know a lot about him tbh) but your footballing description seems to be a bit born out of your dislike for the guy to me.
