| News Comment | Ladapo: Everyone in the Group is Feeling Confident at 07:05:51
What a fantastic role model for success: - Leads by example (doing without resorting to excuses when things go wrong) - Avoiding outside influences that you can't control (Other team's performances and social media) - Focussed on individual performance and improving Looking forward to the next game and seeing the same intensity, desire to contribute, from everyone in the squad. |

Great game and a fantastic advert for the youth scene. Some good technique and quality finishing on show - both squads seem to have a few decent players! Good effort , but agree with Ronny, definite red, but am sure the lad will pick his head up and learn from it - we've all done it! |
| News Comment | Burgess in Team of Midweek at 05:30:34
I think most teams have worked they have the beating of all 4 of our centre backs. Thats why they all set up with a low block, draw our high press and knock it long! 50/50 chance of a mix up, why wouldn't you?! |
| News Comment | McKenna Praise For Midfield Duo at 08:18:43
Good to see Evans getting the credit he deserves in the defensive holding/pivot role that he plays. Been our best player this season for me. Quite frustrating that in several games on ifollow last year to hear Alex Mathie calling for him to be taken off and to put Piggot on. I guess strikers talk, but in McKenna we trust! |
| News Comment | Blues Conclude Friendlies at Home to Southend at 12:28:32
Unpopular comment.....but seems to be employing a similar approach and style and squad rotation policy to Paul Lambert. Hopefully, we can finish higher than we did with the Muppets and pittance of a budget he had, which was clearly a pre-sale holding pattern (similar to his role at AV). |
| News Comment | McKenna: It Was the Day We Wanted to Give Supporters at 07:35:35
Well that should keep some of the "same old Ipswich" Doom Mongers from the last few weeks quiet. McKenna has earned the backing he will get for the first 10 games of next season. Let's hope the team he assembles and prepares are sitting in the top 6 at the end of September. We have every chance because we will have an extra player next season, our existing strikers lack ability or pace and have rarely put in a full shift. |
| News Comment | Chaplin: We're Very Frustrated But We Know Where We Need to Improve at 13:03:55
This guy can be key next season, I don't think we have seen the best of him yet. He is busy, quick feet, has a turn of pace and doesn't do his stuff in the right areas of the pitch to be a real threat! McKenna will help him with that, he is a proper old school coach. Looking forward to seeing McKenna and Chaplin push on next season. |
| News Comment | McKenna: Season Won't Fizzle Out at 07:45:58
Mate, nobody is gonna think any less of you if you let those who have performed take an early break and experiment with a few others. Focus should be on getting us off to a flying start, something that Lambert was surprisingly really good at! |
| News Comment | Burgess: Frustrating One as It Should Have Been a Goal at 05:38:29
Been really impressed by Burgess in last couple of games. It helps that the standard required to get a game in the first team has been raised by McKenna. So whilst the defence is stable, McKenna has 2 challenges for Oxford: 1. Re-balance the midfield to compensate for Morsy's absence. Suggest going with Bakinson, Caroll and Aluko in a triangle, with Aluko, being the higher of the three. Bakinson/Carroll combo is more defensive than a Bakinson/Morsy combo, so needs a very forward minded player ahead of them. 2. Find a striker that defenders will actually fear to play up top. Bonne seems to win less in the air than he should and both Pigott and Bonne seem to lack pace. I guess he will have to toss a coin or throw the lad Simpson in, what's to lose?! Norwood also an option, but we do lack height and need an out route when under pressure - can he play that role? |
| News Comment | Aluko: This is the Part of the Season I Really Enjoy at 05:17:13
Just remember that this guy was signed by Cook, as were most of them! Some respect is due, even if they did not produce their best performances in the first 20 games. That being said, this guy is a great guy to have around the place and it's fantastic to see him thriving under McKenna and spreading such infectious positivity around the place. |
| News Comment | McKenna: Good Win From Difficult Game On a Difficult Pitch at 04:16:46
I thought Bakinson made a big difference when he came on. He dictated the play, cycled the ball quickly and covered a good amount of ground to break up the play. Very similar player to Evans and very underated in terms of how he influences the pace of the game, the shape/balance of the team and brings others into the game. If Alex Mathie had been commentating on ifollow he would have been calling for more strikers on the pitch and is usually suggesting we pull Evans or Bakinson off! |
| News Comment | Burns: Two Points a Game the Aim at 06:30:34
Good to hear him speaking out like this, because it does put some pressure on the strikers to re-produce the sort of tenacity and goal scoring instincts that he has shown. |
| News Comment | Blues Legends at Escape to Victory Celebration Dinner at 05:45:01
Great movie, with some slightly dodgy acting! Remember watching it on a slightly rough Felixstowe to Zeebrugge crossing. I think it was enjoyed by most that day, but there was the distinct smell of sea sickness and "pavement pizzas" lining the carpet as I exited the theatre. I can't think why Russel Osman did not get the call for the next Bond movie or Jason Bourne series with this audition "I don't want to go. Let's go back … We can win this!" |
| News Comment | McKenna: El Mizouni's Going to Be an Important Member of the Squad at 05:22:50
Considering we were trying to play a diamond with one holder (Bakinson) and one creative player (El Mizouni) I felt it did not work because Mizouni did not push on in the way that Morsy would have. In my opinion, Harper, a fit Nolan, or even Edwards (in a free role) would have complimented Bakinson quite well in that system. Not sure about El Mizouni's place in the squad in the long run. |
| News Comment | McKenna: Harper Crewe Loan Works For All Parties at 05:06:45
I really like Harper as a player, quick feet, good first touch and good passing skills. One to watch for next season, I expect him to be pushing for a staring position, if he can up his defensive work rate and physicality. |
| News Comment | McKenna: Up to Simpson to Stake a Claim at 05:02:28
I'd like to see him on the bench and get 30 mins soon. Non of our strikers have set the world alight in the last couple of months and that would send the right message. |
