Ogbene attacking right back?
at 23:14 5 Jul 2025

Would be fine as a wingback in a back 5 with Leif the other side. Wes can do the same job. But no way as a fullback in a back 4 - that would be suicidal. We tried that with Clarke who supposedly IS an actual attacking fullback (rather than a makeshift one) in a back 4 and we all know how often he got found out...

Electric cars
at 11:00 20 May 2025

I made the switch to Electric in February. Got myself a 2021 Tesla Model 3 Long Range. Would highly recommend - used Model 3s are exceptional value for money right now (best power/performance per £ that you can get at the moment, and it has a premium sound system for my tunes). Never felt accelleration like it. Yes I hate Elon but couldn't turn down that value for money, and I bought it from an independent dealer and NOT Tesla.

Like others on here I have a charger on my house with Octopus Intelligent EV Tarrif. Costs me about a fiver for a full charge which in decent weather will give me 300+ miles of range if you don't drive it like you stole it. The fuel savings vs petrol are immense.

Tesla charging on the go isn't bad either - charging costs from about 35p to 50p per KW depending on where you go and the time of day - which is still much cheaper than most other non-tesla rapid chargers you get, and there are more than enough of them to get you virtually anywhere you want to go.

The cons vs petrol. Insurance is higher. Charging does take longer if you're going to be doing consistent 200+ mile trips in a day (if you are a very high mile-er and touring around the country frequently, I'd recommend hybrid or sticking with petrol). But for me only doing the odd long range trip here and there, a half hour break to get you up to 60-80% is good after driving for 3 hours or so. My commute is only about 40 miles each way so not a problem. The only time I've ever had range anxiety is when I took it up to Scotland on its first ever road trip. No Tesla chargers north of Inverness. But so long as you're not going to be taking it to the Highlands then you should be absolutely fine.

So in summary - I'd highly recommend going electric - unless you're moving to the highlands or doing more than 200 miles a day frequently.

Europe still hates us
at 00:52 18 May 2025

Given that so much of the audience voting is political, the fact that Ukraine didnt give us a single point when we're supposedly leading this coalition of the willing to try and preserve their country, doesn't make me feel that happy.

Yes Europe hates us. Will do for the next decade.

Our song was musically good but it didn't really flow - it was quite stop-start.

Feel sorry for the Austrian guy that won it. Had to have his testes squeezed a second time in one evening to perform again at the end.

Chelsea are currently playing in Warsaw.
at 20:45 10 Apr 2025

Chelsea have so many players that they actually almost have 2 different squads - One for the league and one for Europe.

The team that won that tonight is basically their reserves. Possibly two of those start on Sunday, if that.

So no. No benefit there. Not a massively long flight home either - and I imagine they will fly to Heathrow which is virtually home already for them - there are longer bus journeys that they will take in a season than this trip.

I highly doubt the truth in her story that she 'slept with 100 men in 24 hours'.

That works out at under 15 minutes per man.

There is absolutely no way she did that much sleeping.

Persistant negativity and derision
at 09:52 6 Feb 2025

I think the best explanation is to dive into the fundamentals of human psychology.
We all 'love' our club, to us it's almost akin to a loved one. I believe we are witnessing a dramtic downturn in fortunes - and therefore could be seen to be exhibiting the classic 5 stages of grief. With a supporter base of thousands of course, we will all be in different stages. But I'd go for how I perceive the majority.

We've gone through the denial - "It's only Man City, this wont define our season. We are competitive in all our games. It's just a few silly mistakes that are costing us" etc etc.

I would say the majority are very much in the anger stage. Fans are lashing out and the air is starting to become a bit toxic. We're blaming individual players and the manager.

Some of us have even moved on to bargaining - "It's all the housery", "It'll all be fine if we beat Wolves ands Leicester"

And maybe some of us have even moved into acceptance.

Now obviously I'm generalising massively here and situations can change very quickly in football. I don't want to be all negative and say that we are as good as relegated already (because we aren't). But I am a realist and I must says it's not looking good right now. I do struggle to see how we are going to stay up. Of course I hope we can turn it around as we all must do.

However the good news is that if/once we get past this, the only way is up and we move towards acceptance of our fate - and then the mood will lighten up and the toxicity will subside as we enjoy the ride and look forward to next season.

ferguson to west ham
at 15:41 3 Feb 2025

Also for them to consider us I imagine they would have demanded he be first choice striker - which with Delap isn't going to happen. They wouldn't be happy with him playing only 30 minutes every week. West Ham are short on strikers with Antonio out for the season, Bowen not being a natural number 9, and Fullkrug not favoured - so good chance Ferguson will be first choice for them.

Worth a bid?

30 years old, great prem experience, fantastic set-piece delivery.

Would prefer him to Downes.

Not sure if the Hammers have brought him back to play though under the new manager.

Assume we have the money for one more big signing. Where do you spend it?
at 12:00 23 Jan 2025

I do agree we probably need one of each. We could perhaps do with a reasonable striker on loan from outside the prem. But if I had to pick one for a marquee signing, I'd go for the central midfielder.

We desperately need to add legs to our central midfield. A box to box type player - essentially another Cajuste. Cajuste can't manage 90 minutes. Morsey is a good ball-winner and ball-retainer and a decent passer, but too slow to get up and down the field at this level. Phillips isn't that quick either, great on the ball but not so great off it. And Taylor isn't good enough with the ball.

Its obvious when we break that the midfield struggle to get up to support the forwards, and so many of our attacks break down that way as Hutchinson or Delap have no support and end up surrounded trying to beat 2 or 3 players. Add another dynamic premier-quality midfielder and we stay up I think.
