| News Comment | Leicester Thrash Saints to Go Four Points Clear at 01:24:31
If we win our last three games we go to 98 points. If Leeds win their last two the best they can do is 96points.,.. so it is completely in our hands. There is of course the possibilities of losses and draws to mess up my scenario above however fingers crossed that we can claim second place in some style.... coyb |
| News Comment | Town Down to Third Following Leeds Win at 00:30:28
Well it is still all in our hands. Three wins will keep us in the top two. A few draws or losses for the others will help us as long as we win ....coyb |
| News Comment | Former Blue Evans Promoted From League One Again at 00:19:31
Good to see Evans doing well. He deserves it. I hope that he starts the new season fully fit and ready to go. It will be interesting to see how Portsmouth go in the Championship next season. |
| News Comment | McKenna: Proud Night Individually and For Everyone at the Club at 00:49:18
A great reward for KMcK and the others. It would be incredible if we get automatic promotion and if we win our last three games we will. To put this into perspective one only has to remember all those years in the Championship after relegation. Regardless of what happens I trust that KMcK will continue his project for us next season.... what a remarkable turn around .... coyb |
| News Comment | McKenna Named Championship Manager of the Season at 01:36:15
Marvellous recognition for Kieran's personal efforts and those of the staff, players and supporters around him. We should also recognise his family for their support and the sacrifices they will have made in terms of the time he spends on his work that would otherwise have been spent with them, particularly his wife and children. Hopefully if we can win our last three matches we will cap off an outstanding season with automatic promotion, it is all in our hands...... coyb |
| News Comment | McKenna: A Moment to Cherish at 04:02:05
Marvellous. No reason we cannot win the last six in a row and stay exactly where we are, starting with the mob up the road this coming Saturday. If we win them all then we stay where we are ........coyb |
| News Comment | McKenna: Burns Injury Serious But Surgery Not Required at 00:15:00
While the injury to Wes has come at a really bad time we at least have good cover for him (Hutchinson, Jackson). I am however concerned about Chaplin possibly not being available for this and the Southampton game. Hopefully Keiffer will be good to go, even if just for 45 minutes, with Ali set for the other 45minutes. While 6 points for this weekend would be great I would be happy with 4 if we beat Southampton...coyb |
| News Comment | Burns Withdraws From Wales Squad at 00:20:31
Wes is a critical player for us and I have my fingers crossed that the injury is not as bad as first indicated. That said, hamstrings can be tricky and we need to be careful not to rush him back too soon. Lets all hope for a quick recovery....coyb |
| News Comment | Town Target Six in a Row Against Bristol City at 21:00:46
Even without Wes and Broady it is still a strong line-up. Harness/Sarmiento on the left, Connor in the middle and Omari on the right with Keiffer up front is better than most Championship attack forces. This is an important one to win as Cardiff at their home will be a challenge, particularly if we have any more injuries to key players as we cannot rely on the Foxes and Leeds to keep slipping up.....coyb |
| News Comment | McKenna: It Was a Bit of a Wild Game, Wasn't it? at 01:48:34
The three points and Saints losing were the big things tonight. I am sure that we will front up on Saturday for another 3 points which would put us back in second spot if the Foxes beat Leeds on Friday night. Much to be optimistic about....coyb |
| News Comment | Morsy: We've Just Got to Focus on Ourselves at 06:37:22
Very sensible words from Sam as usual. One thing that I have always thought at this time of the year is that the weather and grounds will be getting better soon and that will suit us better. If we could emulate our run from last season we should finish second by a bit of a margin barring injuries to key players. I am still optimistic that we can finish over Leeds and the Saints. The big thing with the latter will be to knock their halo flying when they visit us ....coyb |
| News Comment | McKenna: Rotherham Are Competitive Every Week at 01:19:31
If things go our way hopefully a 3 or 4-0 win to us as we badly need to improve our for/against ration in case we are tied on points with Leeds or the Saints for the second automatic promotion place. Hard to pick a winner in the Leeds-Leicester clash on Friday night. Leicester seem to have just lost a bit of momentum lately but hopefully for us I hope that the Foxes get back on the scent.... coyb |
| News Comment | McKenna: A Good, Solid Team Performance at 23:35:17
A good solid win and the usual intelligent comments from KMcK. I think that he sounds pretty committed to us and the stability and progress of the club with a progressively improving playing roster. Those things are not to be found at all clubs in the Prem. I hope that we can now put together a run like we did last season. I also hope that we can progressively improve our goals for/against ratio as it could be decisive if we are equal on points with Leeds or Southampton at the end of the season. In the meantime lets be thankful for KMcK and his staff's efforts up to this point and be grateful for the stability that the owners have contributed and the energy and skill of the playing staff....coyb |
| News Comment | Millwall 0-4 Ipswich Town - Match Report at 23:21:04
A good three points and also a good lift for our goals for tally. The latter could be a defining measure in what I think will be a very tight race for the second automatic promotion place. We need a few more big wins to boost that tally as that statistic could end up being vital at the end of the season. A 3-0 or better at Swansea on Saturday would give our goal difference margin another good boost....coyb |
| News Comment | Palace Reportedly Fail in Move For McKenna at 22:45:28
When Kieran signed he specifically praised the history of the club and indicated that getting it promoted back to the PL was a project that appealed greatly to him. On all of his utterances since he arrived he has impressed me as a very intelligent man and a decent one. I also think that he appreciates the solid backing of the owners and the stability and progress of the club since those owners took over. If we get promoted the owners would have the capacity to bring in a few more top quality players to ensure that we can compete at a decent level in the PL. I think that he will still be here for next season regardless of which division that we are in but if we did not get promotion next season, assuming that we might not this season, then I think that he could be pondering other options then. If that were to be the case I do not see him going to a Prem club with erratic owners who have very limited funds. In the meantime I am looking forward to seeing us get promoted this season, either automatically or through the play-offs .... coyb |
| News Comment | Former Blues Defender Smith Makes Australia Move at 01:17:47
Very good player for Ipswich who appeared to have been undone several years ago by a serious injury and did not seem to come back as strong as he was before and was then moved on. I also fondly remember his performances for NZ in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, particularly in the 1-1 draw with Italy. I hope that things go well for him in the A-League. |
| News Comment | Preston North End 3-2 Ipswich Town - Extended Highlights at 21:08:16
After watching Hladky in this game and considering a few recent games I think that it is time to reintroduce Walton. That and the return of Burgess should tighten things up at the back. I also think that we need to mix up our clearances a bit and sometimes kick long to keep the opposition guessing. It would mean that they could not safely have large numbers of players forward pressuring our back line......coyb |
| News Comment | Evans: A True Honour at 03:34:26
This is very disappointing for the player, club and supporters. Lee made a great contribution prior to his latest serious injury. I thought that KMcK provided a very thoughtful and kind summary of the situation and Lee's contribution. I wish Lee the very best of luck in finding a new club and hope that he is free of any further serious injury during the rest of his career.... |
