Former Blues Defender Smith Leaves Sunderland
at 10:23:59

ITFC 73 - I had hoped that Lambert would be the new broom regarding Chambers and a couple of others but sadly that has not proved to be the case. I think that he certainly needs to swing the axe as soon as this season is officially finished but we shall have to wait and see if he actually does it.

ITFC 73 - agree with your comment but he keeps getting picked. Perhaps I should have emphasised that rather than him being good enough. If we are to compete with the top placed teams we need an experienced CB, preferably left-sided, paired with Woolfie (if he stays)

Former Blues Defender Smith Leaves Sunderland

Tommy formed a solid partnership with Chambers a few years ago but it was broken up when McCarthy introduced Berra and we had Chambers shunted to right back. If fully fit I still think Tommy would be a handy acquisition in League 1 as being a natural left-sided cb he would be a very good partner for Woolfie assuming Woolfie stays here next season. The major question regarding the defense for me is whether Chambers will be good enough to play regularly ........

A natural left-sided cb who also popped up with some handy goals. As long as he is injury free I think that we should re-sign him as the partner for Woolfie next season, assuming of course Woolfie is still here.

Dobra: I Want to Help the Club Get Back to Where it Should Be
at 02:37:05

We need players with fire in their belly. It is just a matter of channeling the aggression in a positive way to make sure they stay on the field. How many times last season did we see toothless and passionless performances?
I am looking forward to the return of Lankester and Vincent-Young and hopefully a fit Bishop, Norwood, and Nydam and some of our other young players, especially Dozzel, showing greater consistency......

Lambert: It's an Absolute Disgrace

I think that we have suffered enough humiliation this season. Participation in an extended play-off competition will only bring more. Am looking forward to hearing that play-offs will not happen.........

EFL: Return to Training Delayed
at 00:57:40

Cloddyseedbed - Excellent post. Here in NZ we have moved down to Level 2 today which means life returns almost to normal apart from requirements around physical distancing and the size of gatherings. By international standards we are very fortunate. Having a daughter in England I have followed events there very closely and am greatly saddened by the harm that coronavirus has caused there. Our move down to Level 2 was preceded by having no cases in 4 of the last 10 days and only 2 or 3 cases on the other days. I think that ending the season now is the only sensible step available to you and like you hope that the decision makers put much greater weight on the human rather than financial costs/risks of resuming the leagues. Money can be managed/replaced whereas individual human lives are unique and not able to be resurected..

Chambers: We Still Feel We've Got an Opportunity
at 08:41:24

Looking back at some of the 'best team' selections reminded me of what we used to be. Virtually every selection would overwhelm the team that we have now and exhibit considerable style in doing so. I feel that we need to bite the bullet and replace Chambers and Skuse next season. We need a dominant centre back who has some pace to pair up with Woolfie and an aggressive central midfielder who is equally as good going forwards as backwards, both ideally being mid to late 20s. Beyond that if our better players are fit and PL plays his best team consistently and leaves his fringe players to handle cup competitions then we might make some progress next season.

Chambers: We Still Feel We've Got an Opportunity
at 05:03:37

I think Chambers put his finger on the start of the decline in October which coincided with PL's rotation system. The team lost cohesion with so many changes each week and both of those things were compounded by injuries to some of our better players. I also think that we used up our 'rub of the green' in that period with some lucky victories. If you need a helicopter to take the photo of players who got to start at least one game this season then you know that the season has not gone well.
Frankly, I am past caring whether or not the season gets played out. If I were PL I would be planning for next season and making decisions about who stays and who goes and having a cards on the table chat with Marcus Evans in order to at least try to get the transfer business done as early as possible.....

My Best Town XI: Bartosz Bialkowski

I think that in terms of winning really big things, i.e. a World Cup, Sir Alf would be my number one manager for Ipswich with Sir Bobby a short distance back.....

A great line up, strong all over the pitch. Presumably George would manage it.

Skuse: Performance Showed We’ve Not Thrown in the Towel

Very well put Doctor Earman ......... we need a heart transplant just to see the season out with some small degree of hope...... Perhaps I could add a final comment to your witty list "phew that was a close one, the point from the draw was just enough to stay up....."

Ipswich Town 0-1 Fleetwood Town - Match Report
at 22:11:44

I could not believe the starting line-up for a "must win game" when I saw it.
Alright we had several first choice players either suspended or carrying niggles but only one striker named. Has PL forgotten that to win games you have to score goals. Why were Freddie and Simpson not starting with Keane playing behind them? to at least give notice of some intention to take the game to the visitors....... you could have rounded up 11 toothless sheep and put them out on the park and seen more action and intent than what was on display for Town tonight...... sadly we got what our gutless approach deserved, i.e. nothing!!!

McGavin and Dozzell Start Against Fleetwood

Fingers crossed Freddie gets on early second half and puts a couple away...... he needs time on the pitch to get match sharpness. Also hope Dobra gets a decent amount of time on ........ fingers crossed for a result but hard to see where a goal is coming from with that starting line-up.... coyb

Simpson Signs First Pro Deal
at 07:32:18

Yes Harling. I think Keane is best suited to that as he is good at holding the ball up and finding a pass and if he is the best placed taking a shot himself.... I just hope tonight that Mr Sideways-Backwards is under strict instructions to play it forward ......... if we cannot beat Fleetwood (who also have 2 games in hand over us) then forget the play-offs ..... coyb

With Jackson and Norwood out I would start with Sears and Simpson as the front pairing with Keane in behind them in place of Judge and make changes shortly after half-time if necessary. If we do not win this one then we have major problems ........ coyb.....

Warnock Blues Link Revived
at 04:15:06

Four wins in the last twenty-three games speaks for itself. If we had won even half of them we would be clear at the top with automatic promotion beckoning. If we are to make a change in a bid to rekindle our promotion prospects then NOW is the time to do it with a big run of home games coming up. If we do not want to be in this division again next season NOW is the time to act - what Evans does now is a real test of his level of ambition. That said I am sorry that things have not worked out better under PL who strikes me as a decent guy. I think that he is currently paying for the loss of momentum earlier in the season when we should have looked to ride our great run further rather than postponing games during international breaks and losing impetus. I also had an issue with the rotation policy and how it appeared to have been taken to extremes and led to increasingly disjointed performances resulting in unnecessary defeats. In a number of ways we have been authors of our current slide which is made more depressing by reading the key stats for many of the matches where we dominated possession, number of passes etc but could not translate those advantages to results on the scoreboard. Anyway lets hope for 3 points on Tuesday evening ......... coyb

The injuries that he had derailed him in his last season with us. I think that if he was medically ok we should have re-signed him.
