Transfer Deadline Day
at 07:36 9 Jun 2024

As we're now competing with the big boys for players, many PL transfers tend to be completed on or approaching deadline day.

Next season we'll have 3 matches before any deadline day transfers are eligible to play.

Also, pre season training will be well underway before the end of Euro '24 and Copa America. Even players who are eliminated in the early stages won't return from holiday until about 22nd July.

We know it takes a while for players to get up to speed with our style of play, so we may have to rely heavily on our existing squad at the beginning of the season.

Obviously Ashton and KMc etc. know what they're doing, but it is a bit of a concern as if we exclude Hladky and players who were out on loan last season, we only have an (imbalanced) squad of 18 players.

Cameron Humphreys
at 07:36 4 Jun 2024

I understand the logic for sending Cameron Humphreys out on loan next season.

But as the only player who won't count towards the 25 man squad limit, I've got a feeling he will stay. We're going to need as many players as possible next season, to allow for the inevitable injuries and suspensions (*cough* Morsy).

KMc - Player Development
at 09:04 2 Jun 2024

McKenna clearly enjoys (and is very good at) developing players.

He's shown that he can do that with Burgess, Woolfy, Morsy, Chappers, Burns etc. while they've played in the first team.

But can he continue to do this in the PL, or will we need to loan players to Championship clubs to continue their development?

For example, I'm pretty sure Al-Hamadi would have featured next season in the Championship. But I'm not sure we can give him the game time he needs in the PL.

Cobbold Stand - D Block
at 16:49 1 Jun 2024

Just seen a photo on Twitter which showed the stairwell removed and seats ripped out of D block in the Cobbold Stand.

Guess that means this section (and the seats behind) will now be used by away supporters.

Feel sorry for the long standing season ticket holders, but this should really help the atmosphere.

Chelsea have extended Omari's contract
at 17:11 28 May 2024

Chelsea have exercised the option to extend Omari's contract until 2026.

Assume this means they have no interest in selling this summer, which is hopefully good news for us as a season long loan is more realistic.

FA Cup - Road to Wembley
at 11:50 25 May 2024

Maidstone are bound to feature quite heavily in the build up later (and rightly so).

At the time it was highly embarrassing, but as we'll never know what positive effect it had on the rest of our season, I just laugh when I'm reminded about it now.

Maybe we should start a campaign to remind Man Utd, Chelsea and Brighton about this result.

KMc has spoken!

KMc's comments can be interpreted a number of ways, but given the hysteria i'm happy listening to this interview.

It's got to help ten Hag keep his job if Utd qualify for the Europa League.

Sounds like there is a fair bit of work to do at Portman Road this summer.

Does anyone know if the builders have arrived yet?

SBR Stand - Iconic Moments
at 06:49 14 May 2024

Given our phenomenal success over the past two seasons, surely it's time to update some of the iconic moments on the SBR stand.

I know Macauley Bonne's 'he's behind you' moment is quite memorable, but we drew what turned out to be a meaningless League One match. IMO this has to be replaced by Sarmiento's winner against Soton.

Any others that should be replaced?

So who could start on negative points?
at 09:36 12 May 2024

We already know that Leicester could start next season on negative points. But who else?

If Everton go into administration, I guess they will do it ASAP so they can take the hit this season.

Obviously Man City are facing these 115 charges, but unless they are relegated will probably still win the league even with a points deduction.

If L*eds are promoted, I think they could be facing a points deduction for outstanding payments of £190m.

And Chelsea could be in trouble if they don't sell players before 30th June.

Is anyone else walking an FFP tightrope?

TownTV
at 12:37 10 May 2024

Generally I'm only interested in KMc's interviews and Town in Five, so haven't felt it necessary to subscribe to TownTV.

But I do wonder if more content will only be available to TownTV subscribers next season.

I would have liked to watch Mark Ashton's end of season dinner speech and I'm hoping at least some of Town In The Premier League is available tonight for free.

I understand the club want to maximise revenue and it's only the price of a pint, but I think it will be a shame if too much content is restricted.

Omari
at 09:47 9 May 2024

I've got a good feeling about this.

Omari wants to stay
KMc wants him to stay
Chelsea want him to play on a regular basis in the PL

I think he'll sign a new contract at Chelsea and we'll pay a loan fee to keep him at Portman Road next season.

Unless a club is prepared to offer £££s to sign him permanently, I can't see there is a better option for Chelsea or Omari.

Retained List
at 18:05 7 May 2024

Obviously there is going to be plenty of speculation about who we'll buy this summer, but I think we can expect the retained list to be announced this week or next.

My guess is:

Hladky: new contract offer
Walton: 1 year extension triggered
Burgess: 1 year extension triggered
Tuanzebe: 1 year extension triggered
El Mizouni: 1 year extension triggered (view to selling)
Ball: released
Camara: released
JD: released
Jackson: released

Camara has a 1 year extension clause, but given his injury record I don't think we can expect to get a transfer fee.
