Striker Options
at 06:43 14 Sep 2025

At some point this season, Hirst and/or Azon will be injured/suspended.

Obviously KMc will have prepared for this when allowing AAH to leave on loan, but what is the plan if/when this happens?

Will Hirst/Azon play 90 mins, or will Akpom come off the bench to play in the '9' role?

If both are injured, is the plan to promote Ayinde/Buabo from the U21s?

Are MA, KMc and Owners still aligned?
at 06:57 2 Sep 2025

After a transfer window which KMc is on record as saying had a greater turnover of players than he would have wanted, do we think MA, KMc and the owners are still aligned?

Some players were 'pushed out' because they weren't offered longer contracts, others due to lack of playing time, or a mixture of both.

I think we need a Matt Holland interview with Ed Schwartz, MA and KMc to show the ITFC world that everyone is aligned from the top down.

Not sure I believe that, but time will tell.

We've signed Egeli and McAteer this summer to play on the right and still have Wes to return from injury. I don't think Ogbene will play again for us.

I want to trust the process
at 16:12 1 Sep 2025

I want to trust the process, but I don't. Not anymore with the news that Chappers is being moved on.

IMO the last 3 transfer windows have been scattergun. What is it, 19 players in excluding loans? And 2 of those (Muric and Ogbene) only lasted a season.

This squad are a team of strangers with no cohesion or leadership. Losing Chappers today only makes things worse.

KMc can't be happy with our transfers this summer.

New Signings & Preferred Positions
at 13:33 29 Aug 2025

Apologies if this has been answered elsewhere, but I'm struggling to keep up with everyone's preferred positions. I know KMc likes flexibility, but in an ideal world where do all our new signings fit in?

Nunez - is he seen as an option to rotate with Matusiwa, Cajuste, or both?
Egeli - is he seen as an option to compete with McAteer, Ogbene & Burns?
Akpom - is he competing with SS and Chappers for the '10' or Hirst for the '9'?
Azon - I assume he'll rotate with Hirst?

Better off Skint?
at 16:48 28 Aug 2025

I don't mean better off skint under Marcus Evans, but under the current owners our '21 - '24 signings were much better value than the players signed for £££s since promotion to the PL.

Davis, Burns, Chappers, Hirst, Broady, Morsy, Burgess, Luongo etc. were all fantastic value for money.

Compare that with Muric, Greaves, Jaden and J Clarke who cost £60M+ and our 'player trading' model appears to have gone a bit t*ts up. Admittedly we did make a profit on Delap and Omari, but I can't see too much value for money in the current squad.

Maybe I'm just sad that our B2B team will never be recreated.

It might be only 3 games into the season and so too early to look at table
at 09:31 24 Aug 2025

I agree. In the Championship teams are never really out of contention for the play-offs.

But as it takes 92+ points to finish in the top 2 we can't afford to fall further behind. Already we need to average over 2 points-per-game to finish in the top 2.

Not bed wetting, but we look every bit a Championship team. Nothing like the Leeds and Leicester teams that were relegated two seasons ago.

What is our budget?
at 16:57 19 Aug 2025

I know it's also about wages and loan fees, but as we've received £70M+ for Omari, Delap and Broady this summer, plus have received approx. £50M in parachute payments, what is a reasonable amount for us to spend before the transfer window closes?

So far we've only paid £7.8M for Matusiwa, so if the owners are serious about going straight back up, then surely we should be looking to reinvest a decent chunk of this windfall.

On the Visit Us section of the website, it actually states 'Please note that food purchased away from Portman Road will not be permitted in the ground.'

I can't believe this is actually enforced, nor should it be.

TBF I didn't think they were bad value last season and are actually very nice.

Not worth £4.99 now though.

Bought a sausage roll in the ground yesterday.

Price is the same as last season, but it's now about half the size!

Loans with Option/Obligation to Purchase
at 11:29 14 Aug 2025

Given how difficult the transfer market is to navigate, I like the idea of loans with an option/obligation to purchase IF we're promoted this season.

Potentially takes the pressure off recruitment next summer, with fewer players arriving during August.

I don't think resale tickets will be made available unless the match has sold out (incl. all RV seats).

Doesn't make sense for the club to refund ST holders when there are still general sale tickets available.

If we hadn't been promoted...
at 07:43 10 Aug 2025

If we hadn't been promoted, how many of the 2023/24 squad would still remain?

IMO the following players would still have departed/retired or been sold in Summer '24 :

Donacien
Jackson
El Miz
Ndaba
Ahadme
Camara
Aluko
Ball
Ladapo
Leif (sold)
Omari (not signed)

And the following players would still have departed or been sold in 2025 :

Tuanzebe
Morsy
Harness
Luongo

So IMO the only players who could still be here today from 2023/24 are Hladky, Fridge and Burgess.

I think the point I'm trying to make, is the squad turnover would have been just as high if we'd not been promoted. And we would have been worse off as KMc would probably have left for Brighton and obvs there would have been less £££s to invest in the squad without the PL TV money/parachute payments.

First Town Player to Down Tools
at 07:04 3 Aug 2025

Assuming it's true, is Omari the first Town player ever to down tools and force a move?

It's quite a recent tactic by elite players and their agents, so I doubt it's happened to us before given we'd been out the top flight for so long.

Another reason to hate modern football. SBR would turn in his grave.

I don't think we sold out for many matches that season. Pretty sure there were always RV seats available.

Attendances Next Season
at 18:09 24 Jul 2025

I reckon Gamechanger and MA have overestimated the demand for tickets next season, especially Grade B fixtures that are moved for TV.

Yes GC have successfully rebuilt our football club, but historically when have we ever sold out in the Championship (apart from 'big' matches)?

Ignoring concessions, prices for Grade B fixtures range from £34 to £55. Assuming there are approx. 20,000 ST holders, I don't think we'll sell 8,000 odd match tickets at those prices.
